An interesting look at the genetic origins of the Irish people, especially on the West Coast, with black hair and dark eyes.
Not all red haired with green eyes and freckles as the postcard images might suggest. :)

I saw this a few days ago. It blows apart the Spanish Armada theory.

Indeed it does. I saw a program on RTE (National Irish channel) a few years ago about the Irish DNA story and was very surprised to learn that the people who created the well known mound at Newgrange bear no genetic relation to the current Irish population.

This is very interesting! My husband is about 75% Irish….his family has black hair, blue eyes and very pale skin, as do a few of my kids.

I've always thought black hair, blue eyes and pale skin is the most stunning combination. Every time I see someone with that natural combo it stops me in my tracks. I'd hoped maybe I might get one child like that, but all my kids have come out with pale skin, blue eyes...and brown or blond hair. Not quite! Lol
