    Hi everyone,

I've been interested in this verse for sometime, it's Psalm 45, or Psalm 44 in the Vulgate; verse 11, it reads:

"Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: and forget thy people and thy father's house."
    (Douay-Rheims Version)

In its historical context, it's clearly meant to refer to a gentile wife being called to cast off her pagan upbringing and become part of God's Covenant. I myself, tend read it as calling us to reject our old father, the devil and become Transformed by Christ. However what have the Fathers, Doctors and Saints said about this passage, have any of them commented on it?

I don't know what the saints and Church fathers have said about it, but I hear in that quote the call of God to the individual soul to detach and let go of the world and live for God alone.

I know it’s in the Little Office of Our Lady. So it probably has something to do with Her.
