A liar and murderer from the beginning

  1. To be clear....I believe AI as a technology is esentually neutral. Just as the printing press as a technology was first used to print Bibles, but very soon after was used to print pornographic images, how the technology is used is the problem.

We are now in the wild west when it comes to AI.....very dangerous. It is just too powerful a technology to be left uncontrolled. We would not allow say biological weapons to be uncontrolled and available to everyone.

Below is a sobering example of how AI lies. Worth a read to understand more about what we are dealing with...

Here is an example of how AI interacted with an unstable teenager, and AI encouraged him to kill himself, which he did...

Here is an example of an AI controled robot that went "off"...

AI is starting to dominate many industries. No way to put the jeanie back in the bottle. Your doctor undoubtedly uses it. Neerly all industries are in the process of integrating it....Or is AI integrating all industries?

Thank you so much for raising awareness! I agree with many of your points.
However, I do not think AI is essentially neutral, nor can it be compared to any other technology, in my opinion. I think it was Elon Mus himself who pointed out that AI may have the power and potential to enslave mankind. I think this says something and it could be true in several forms. Perhaps we are entering the age of the antichrist?
    God bless!

  3. Governments also can have the power and potential to enslave mankind. That doesn't mean that all governments are by nature evil.

I think it is important to rationally try to understand what the potential problems we will undoubtedly be facing.

It is very easy to say no good can come from it...but we are already seeing improvements in
    Diagnosing Life-Threatening Health
problems, an AI algorithm that helps detect buried land mines, an AI algorithm that can guide drivers
to the nearest Catholic Mass that can be reached on time.

A gun can be used to procure food, or kill a person. Ai is a tool, but a very powerful one.

I am saying this with respect, but I think you don't get it. I will leave it at that. God bless.

  7. I would also follow the advice of St. Irenaeus, and many other saints, that speculating about the identity of the antichrist is not wise. For there is great danger in being deceived, thinking one is the antichrist...then not recognizing the actual antichrist when he comes. A quote from St. Irenaeus:

Moreover, another danger, by no means trifling, shall overtake those who falsely presume that they know the name of the Antichrist. For if these men assume one [number] when this [Antichrist] shall come having another, they will be easily led away by him as supposing him not to be the expected one. . . It is therefore more certain, and less hazardous, to await the fulfillment of the prophecy than to be making surmises and casting about for any names that may present themselves,

  8. But what good is the lengthening of life, the use of directions etc., if this system is not of God. What does it truly do for our souls?

The system itself is not evil. It has the potential to ease people's suffering and it also has the potential to cause great suffering. It all depends on who controls it, the kind of laws introduced to protect people's civil and human rights as well as the policing of those laws. It won't go away so we may as well prepare for it. Catholic parents of young children will need advice on how to guide their children through what's facing them. I expect that the Bishops are already looking into how best to help parishes deal with the changes.

  10. It lessens our time thinking about God which can slowly remove God from our mind and soul without noticing it as time passes by.

No more need to pray, just ask Grok or Gemini the AIs which are just in front of you, which makes them the first option to talk to than God, they have all the answers to your questions and problems.

I personally plan to ease into AI just as I've eased slowly into most recent technologies. I've read up on how damaging continual use of i-phones in the course of a day are to us, especially youth, in stifling interpersonal relationship skills. AI will present similar, but more detrimental dependencies.

Sorry, God offers friendship as the proper context to best live out the greatest commandment: love of God and neighbor. I'll stick with that. (y)

I was just talking with my brother about this very thing. I actually think this started big time with search engines in the internet. We went from calling up our most knowledgeable family members when we had a question, to just googling it. The internet began replacing God and family a long time ago. Now AI even does the internet searching for us. So we no longer even compare and contrast answers from various sources... We just take AI's word for it. Our brains are becoming less and less necessary. Forget critical thinking.

I miss the days when I called my dad because I was wondering about or couldn't recall something. He always knew. And when I got terribly lost because I took a wrong exit on the freeway in a big city, there was no GPS. I called my dad on the verge of tears and he calmly got me back on track.

What was life like before cell phones? We walked into the nearest gas station and asked for directions. We had to talk to people. And they knew how to tell us where to go because they had figured it out on their own already. You had to do that with no internet. You had to use your memory, or connect with others.

And what about before that? I was watching a car fly past on my country road the other day and it occurred to me that if there were no cars, whoever that was would be riding a horse or walking or moving slowly in a cart, and I would know who they are. And we'd have time to call hello to each other or stop for a chat, because we'd be moving slowly enough to notice each other.

Each progression in the world seems designed to make us move faster and think less. And that is exactly the perfect recipe for never having time for or connection with God.

No, AI is terrible and may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I was reading an essay from an Indian Consultant Doctor who had to return back home for a couple of months to cater to a family matter. One of his patients was concerned at his absence and had with his go ahead decided to use an AI application to advise her in his absense.

When he got back he checked her AI treatment schedule and found it was at least as good or better than he could have done himself. If AI can replace senior experienced Doctors what can they not do? They already have excellent surgical bots.

I can't access the internet on my phone except when I'm using whatsap at home or when visiting a family member and my phone is connected to their internet service. I wouldn't even know how to connect to one of those AI services like Grok.

AI will do more than stifle interpersonal relationship skills. It will impair children's critical thinking skills if they aren't properly prepared to cope with it. It will also give governments the kind of power despots could only dream of. Complaining about the downside of it while doing nothing to prepare for it is like cursing the dark while ignoring the candle and matches.

I agree with you on this one. AI is a whole different ballgame. The change to humanity that it will cause is likely staggering.

Case in point: Today I sent one of my sisters the link above, about the guy who was lied to over and over by AI. This sister regularly uses ChatGPT. Her response was to ask Chat GPT if it would ever lie. It told her it's incapable of lying, and that was good enough for her to decide the human guy was the actual liar.

Ah, but ChatGPT does lie, regardless of what the insidious program said. I once did a little test of so called "AI" by fielding the computer a question about a TV series of yesteryear that I knew from front to back. I asked it to rank the seasons of the series, and ChatGPT gave it 4 fewer years than it actually had in reality. I wasn't convinced about AI in the first place, but to fail even a straightforward insignificant question goes to show that it will be downright awful if used in important questions.
