Blessed Elena Aiello Blessed Elena Aiello (1895-1961) gave a prophecy in 1954 that said: the world will be overturned in a new and more terrible war. Arms most deadly will destroy peoples and nations!” In another prophecy, given in 1959, she further said: “Russia will march upon all the nations of Europe, particularly Italy, and will raise her flag over the dome of St. Peter’s. Italy will be severely tried by a great revolution, and Rome will be purified in blood for its many sins, especially those of impurity! The flock is about to be dispersed and the Pope must suffer greatly.” A further prophecy given on August 22, 1960 is similar: “Another terrible war will come from the east to the west. Russia with her secret weapons will battle America; will overrun Europe.”
There used to be a member of the forum who ran a Garabandal center . I am not sure if it was in Dundalk or somewhere near the border but I have not been in touch for a while. I think it is a bit like the Old Testament. When the Hebrews got out of line God chose another Nation as stick to beat them (so to speak). That does not mean the other nation is any better than the Hebrews are themselves, they are simply a instrument of chastisement. I think , from Fatima especially Russia is the chosen stick to beat us. I notice people can get starry eyed about Russia and about how much better they are than ourselves in the West. But really this is not so. Their abortion rates, fro instance, are a total horror picture . far, far, far worse than anything in the West. In fact many people appear to use it as first means of recourse for contraception. Another big trouble with Russia is their alchoholism which is totally horrendous and dwarfs anything even we in poor old Ireland . Thirdly and even worse there rate of Church attendance is microscopic. So like I say they are no better than us. Just a stick to beat us with. To say Russia had converted....well in a small sense, they dropped Communism. But I would not really say they really converted.
As you note above, the solution is simple, not simplistic. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
◄ Psalm 2 ► Douay-Rheims Bible Acts 4:23-31) 1Why have the Gentiles raged, and the people devised vain things? 2The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord, and against his Christ. 3Let us break their bonds asunder: and let us cast away their yoke from us. 4He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them: and the Lord shall deride them
AA has their 12 steps, and the 1st step admitting that a person is an alcoholic. Amazingly enough the AA has its origins in Christianity. Admitting that we are all sinners and that anything good comes from God is kind of the first step. The second step in AA is a leap of faith, believing that a higher power can restore us to sanity. In Christianity I would think this translates as only God can convert us, but it takes faith. Faith that we are powerless and only God can convert us. There is this kind of surrender that happens that is outside of our control via the cross. How this happens with whole nations I don't know, but maybe through collective crosses.
Given that Lucifer has so much evil power in this world, and due to the fall of Adam and Eve, I doubt that nations are entirely converted. But “happy the people whose God is the Lord.”
The Philippines is one of the few countries where abortion is prohibited, and the people there seem to be very enthusiastic about Catholicism and the papacy.
This is a good point. Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the threshold is for a nations conversion. 60 years ago no abortion was the norm so I don't know if it is the standard, but it would definitely be a criteria. I would add that Russia's position on the lgbtq stuff seems like another criteria that would need to be met. I would also think something like over 70% weekly church attendance.
I believe that the way a state relates to the freedom of Catholic proselytism is a key criterion for assessing whether a country is undergoing a process of conversion — which is a particularly problematic case in Russia, especially considering that even the Soviet Union embraced moral conservatism while keeping the Catholic Church banned. In fact, I believe a specific issue with the Russian state is a false dichotomy between East and West, in which the Church is seen as a byproduct of the latter. Furthermore, I would say that the spirituality of Fatima, which offered two special remedies for the salvation of the world, is a determining factor in whether or not a country is undergoing conversion.
In the time of Saint Athanasius, two-thirds of the Church succumbed to the Arian heresy. Even so, we know that the indefectibility of the Church was preserved as a whole. If we consider the Church as a single organism with diverse shared structures, perhaps the divine proportion is one-third—a faithful remnant within a country. Honestly, I’m not sure whether that would be considered a pessimistic or optimistic statistic
Prompt: Summarize the thresholds for what was considered a nations conversion to Catholicism based on averages of historical data. Response: Based on historical patterns, a nation was typically considered "converted to Catholicism" when: Ruler’s Conversion: The monarch or ruling elite converted and declared Catholicism the state religion (e.g., Clovis I, 496 CE; Mieszko I, 966 CE), often followed by institutional changes like establishing dioceses. Majority Population: Roughly 50% or more of the population identified as Catholic, often marked by widespread baptism (70-80% of infants in medieval/modern contexts) or census data in later periods. Cultural/Institutional Dominance: Catholic practices shaped laws, education, and public life (e.g., church-run schools, Catholic festivals), with Catholicism often enshrined as the official religion. These thresholds varied by era, with medieval conversions driven by rulers and modern ones by demographic trends. No strict universal percentage or metric exists. We have a long way to go.
The World is so interconnected these days. It is like we are all part of some vast Empire. A kind of New Babylon.
I think a clue of a path to God's Mercy is found in Scripture: Genesis 18:26-33 NASB1995 KJVNIVNLTNKJVESV So the LORD said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place on their account.” And Abraham replied, “Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord, although I am but dust and ashes. Suppose the fifty righteous are lacking five, will You destroy the whole city because of five?” And He said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” He spoke to Him yet again and said, “Suppose forty are found there?” And He said, “I will not do it on account of the forty.” Then he said, “Oh may the Lord not be angry, and I shall speak; suppose thirty are found there?” And He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.” And he said, “Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord; suppose twenty are found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it on account of the twenty.” Then he said, “Oh may the Lord not be angry, and I shall speak only this once; suppose ten are found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it on account of the ten.” As soon as He had finished speaking to Abraham the LORD departed, and Abraham returned to his place.
Some areas in Israel beginning to look like Gaza. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Put your sword back into its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.'" Romans 12:19 ... 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
I was just thinking of the poor children who have died and who will die. The Palestinian children, the Iranian children, the Israeli children. It made me think less judgementally about everything and to have a kinder, more compassionate way of looking at it all. The poor dead children, prayers. All the same I can't help thinking that the Israelis have cooked a poisonous brew which they are now being forced to drink themselves. What goes around ,comes around. Karma. As you sow, so shall you reap. Those who live be the sword ,shall die by the sword.
I must pray more for peace. As Our Lady asks. The big problem is all these bombings and mass killings go on and on and on and we kind of forget about them. You get used to them. You forget. A for instance ; when is the last time you thought of and prayed for Russia and the Ukraine? It's just one war after another at present. We forget.
