I never said the list was modern, I said it was proven false, as were other modern mystics. I’m well aware of when the list appeared.

A plain interpretation (and what most people say) is that Peter the Roman should’ve been Francis. Well, the final judgement didn’t happen in his pontificate, so it’s been proven false. People should not base their rejection or acceptance of a pope on a dubious prophecy. I always thought the list was odd anyways, seems like a strange prophecy for Heaven to give random vague Latin phrases that often have no true relevance to a pontificate for people to interpret.

I personally think it’s a bogus forgery. Leo XIII, Fatima, and Akita are legitimate and must be considered still, but remember the chastisement will always be conditional, up to the very last moment, so there is still hope. Maybe Pope Leo XIV will do something to prevent such calamities.

I apologise, I think I had misunderstood your text, then I responded too quickly. Meanwhile, I have corrected my reply. Please take no offence, I need to be careful not to write in a rash tone, and especially I need to read what people are actually saying. Sorry! All the best, and God bless!

May God bless the new Pope and guide him on the path of a true shepherd of God who will guard his flock and strengthen God's house on earth.

What I especially like is that he comes from the USA, which is the starting point of all modern conflicts between liberal ideology and conservative ideology, which then spreads to the rest of the world, especially the battle for the family. Also, he looks at the problem and conflict with Russia from a more neutral angle and there is no fear of subjective influence like in Europe. On the other hand, his Italian-Spanish roots give him that European flair along with his education in Rome. Which in turn is an indicator of tradition and knowledge of the historical European circumstances of the Church.

We live in very challenging times, he will need a lot of strength and faith to lead the Church through this period.

It's hard not to speak rashly at this critical moment in Providence, I was letting fly myself in some of my comments, as 'my dander was up'! I suppose we're mostly getting to the point, without the softening of equivocation.

It's good to have lovely, kind things to say about a new Pope to think and hope for the very best.:)

Lovely that his grandmother was Irish. :):)

I see he was born on September 14th

My first inner reaction yesterday was disappointment. Probably because I had somehow expected one of the well-known conservatives or even ‘Petrus Romanus’.
The feast day of Our Lady of Pompeii and St Michael, the radiant sun over the Vatican - Pizzaballa or Sarah would have been just perfect for my emotional state.
Well, Prevost fits for God now.
He just doesn't have a charisma that would have caught me personally straight away.
But maybe I should project the positive signs onto him.
Honestly, I can't push away my sceptical feeling, but that's how Pope Leo can positively surprise me.
In a preliminary report, before the election, there was talk of a US cardinal from Chicago, who is probably one of the most progressive, and immediately after Cardinal Prevost was announced as pope, it was said on TV that he comes from Chicago. But he was only born there. And maybe I got Chiclayo in Peru acoustically mixed up. And then a grinning Cardinal Kasper was shown and other progressive ones and I was negatively triggered.
When Pope Leo then mentioned the term ‘synodal church’, I was completely disappointed. Maybe and hopefully he was just being polite.
Then I remembered that a visionary and the ‘wolf in sheep's clothing’ were mentioned here in the forum. Luther belonged to the Augustinians...
What was positive in his speech was that Pope Leo spoke of justice, after Francis spoke almost exclusively of God's mercy.
Well, I'm writing all this because I have to ‘let it out’ somewhere.
Since last night there have been many pages of comments here, which I will now read. Perhaps I should have done that before writing. It could well be that it helps me to reduce my scepticism.
God is in control, I am always aware of that.

Given that the Pope spent a good part of his pastoral life in Peru, I looked at the numbers and Catholics make up about 75% of the faithful.

What surprised me was that they fell from over 98% there in the 1960s, and that Protestants have grown to over 20% according to the new figures.

As far as I know, something similar is happening in Brazil, and some other Latin American countries. I don't know if the results of the 2022 census for Brazil have come out regarding religious affiliation. Maybe Luan knows?

This surprises me because in Europe, and also in the West, Protestants are the first to lose believers a lot, in the USA Mormons are quite strong (political influence?!), but as far as I know other communities have lost faith, they have become Sodom and Gomorrah churches. Germany, Sweden, Denmark and other cradles of Protestantism in Europe are running out of strength, the churches are empty, their priests and "priestesses" have become an extended arm of left-liberal ideology.

In the West, there is a falling away from religion, some cults of humanism, yoga, Eastern religions and islam( because of immigration) to a lesser extent are growing... However, Protestantism is being rejected. Catholics, on the other hand, are somehow the most resistant to the decline of believers.

Latin America shows exactly the opposite trend.
I am interested in how the Pope will influence this phenomenon as a religious leader with far stronger powers. He knows the situation very well, even better than in the West, and yet unlike Pope Francis, he lived, worked and ultimately grew up in the West.

I will tell you how we will know for sure. If he does away with the False Church Synodal pathway right away we will know all is well.

If he doesn't...well....time to take to the hills.

By the way, a few days ago I wrote about an interview with our Cardinal Puljić, who is the oldest ordained cardinal in 1994. Yesterday he was on the same balcony as the Pope on the far right.

He stated today for our Catholic press agency that the first vote was very scattered among many candidates (which indicates different positions).

He also stated this, and I quote him: It was clear that he had the capacity to be a leader. In particular, the cardinals appointed by Pope Francis gave him strong support."

I can't understand why a Protestant would dislike him so much? What has he done that they should think that way?

Although I do know some Protestant commentators are very disturbed about the number of conversions to the Church recently . Especially the prominent ones like JD Vance or Gavin Ashendon.

The first thing he did when he was made Bishop in Peru was to lead a Eucharistic procession in his Diocese.
