Good advice from Cardinal Burke https://x.com/cardinalrlburke/statu...s://wdtprs.com/2025/05/card-burke-on-leo-xiv/
I think you are right. One of my friends speaks Italian and she emailed me that she understood his Italian.
I believe this proves, in a certain way, that the supposed prophecy attributed to Saint Malachy is not authentic. The same goes for the messages of various alleged Catholic visionaries. By the way, many of us sometimes expect a prophetic timeline that we ourselves associate with the arrival of a specific pope—I did that myself during the years of the previous pontificate and again now, during these days of sede vacante and anticipation of the conclave. Above all, I hope that Pope Leo XIV will succeed in revitalizing faith in the Old Continent and throughout the world. I regret to say that, perhaps in the coming decades, we Catholics—and Christians in general—may become a minority worldwide, as is already the case in highly secular countries like Germany and Sweden. There is still strong popular religiosity in Brazil, but I don’t know how many more decades it will last.
I too agree that “St. Malachy’s” list is now proven false. Same with some of the modern “mystics”. Hopefully we can now focus on and better understand the legitimate apparitions.
i am political too, but I do think it is a matter of whether a persons faith influences their politics or their politics influences their religious beliefs.
The prophecy of St. Malachy is not comparable to "modern mystics", many of which are false prophets. The St. Malachy-prophecy was published in writing in the 1600s, paintings of St. Malachy with his prophecy in hand exist from the 1300s. There is new research about this by Prof. Hermann Joseph Hiery. This was discussed elsewhere on this forum. I am not necessarily saying that I believe in the prophecy of St. Malachy, although I find it interesting. I am not sure at all that it is now proven false. If I understand Prof. Hiery correctly, with Pope Leo XIV we now have the Pope who is titled De labore solis. This brings to my mind the Fatima sun-miracle of 1917, the Akita-prophecy of 1971 "fire will fall from the sky", and the 100-year period of Satan's reign, according to the locution of Pope Leo XIII. These are approved or evidenced apparitions, all of them occurred on 13 October, in different years. Specifically: 13 October 1884 - locution of Pope Leo XIII in which Our Lord granted Satan 100 years to attempt to destroy the Holy Catholic Church (ecstasy by Pope Leo XIII after saying Holy Mass witnessed by many who assisted at the Pope's Mass, the Pope then rushed to his chambers and composed the "St. Michael the Archangel-prayer"); 13 October 1917 - sun miracle at Fatima, witnessed by at least 30,000, possibly over 100,000, documented in the book "Meet the Witnesses" by John Haffert (people had the impression that the sun is falling onto the earth, many thought it was the end of the world); 13 October 1973 - apparition or locution of the Blessed Virgin to Sr. Agnes Sasagawa in Akita ("fire will fall from the sky...") - miracle of tears of the statue of Our Lady witnessed by hundreds (including Bishop Ito and the mayor of Akita) and filmed by Japanese television channel, snippets of the original Japanese footage are still on YouTube, as part of an English-speaking documentary. The 100-year period could end in 2029, as Our Lady of Fatima's request for the consecration of Russia was given to Sr. Lucia dos Santos in 1929, in Pontevedra. I am not convinced that the consecration has been validly completed, neither by Pope St. JP II who did not mention Russia as he was pressed to be diplomatic, nor by Pope or anti-pope Francis. There is also quasi-approved prophecy of Three Days of Darkness. All these things could have something to do with the sun or a cosmic event. The new Pope has chosen a title which makes him a direct successor of Pope Leo XIII, name-wise. Also, name-wise, if one was to take the St. Malachy-prophecy and Prof. Hiery's interpretation seriously, he would be called "De labore solis". I do find that interesting.
It is proven false if PLXIV is considered valid. If he is an extension of the legacy of Pope Francis, he may not be considered valid.
