Trump & Vance Humiliated Zelensky

Unbelievable. President Zelensky patiently tried to deal with Vance and Trump trying to humiliate him. I am impressed with Zelensky and how he tried to be civil the entire time. Sadly this event today was a major win for Putin. Extremely embarrassing for Americans. Not civil at all from US leadership.

Putin invaded an independent nation. If Putin would pull out his troops the war would end IMMEDIATELY.

 

I disagree. Zelenskyy tried to embarrass the Pres and VP in front of the world. He kept interrupting and said very little of substance. He wants our boys to go to Ukraine and die for him. That’s not going to happen. Trump wants peace not dead bodies and destruction. Zelenskyy has an entitlement mentality. We don’t need another Viet Nam.

 

I agree. I heard President Trump tell Zelensky several times that he, Zelensky, was going to start WWIII.

 

Zelensky is and has been absolutely deplorable. Just a funnel for all that is wrong with NATO and the west.

 

During Biden's term, Zelensky came to the US wearing camouflage clothing and appeared in our Congress asking for funds. That didn't happen today.

 

I believe Zelensky is seeking an outcome that will ultimately benefit him. He wants the USA to provide their army to stand up to Russia because Ukraine's Army has essentially been eradicated.

Lord, Prince of Peace, guide all nations involved to seek a cessation to this conflict, so the lives of the innocent may be spared!

 

The problem with this view is that it presumes that the whole history if the Russia-Ukraine conflict began out-of-blue on Feb 24th 2022. It ignores the spread of Nato like dominoes across Europe after the collapse of Soviet Union. It ignores the Bucharest declaration in 2008.

At the NATO summit in Bucharest in April 2008, NATO decided it would not yet offer membership to Georgia and Ukraine; nevertheless, NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said that Georgia and Ukraine would eventually become members.

Would this not be viewed legitimately as a threat to Russia? To have Nato on its border with missiles 7 minutes from Moscow.

It ignores the fomenting of the anti-Russian Maidan revolution and the deposing of the legitimately elected pro-Russian President, Yanukovic. It ignores the fact that Russia faced losing access to its Naval base on the Black Sea in Crimea because of this illegal activity.

It ignores the fact that there are at least 50 percent Russian speaking peoples in the eastern region of Donetsk and Crimea. It ignores the fact that the vast majority of the Crimean people voted to stay Russian.

It ignores the fact that the newly installed anti-Russian government expanded the military to prevent any breakaway groups in Donetsk from gaining ground. It ignores the brutal war between the separatist groups in Donetsk and Lugansk. It ignores the nationalist groups with Nazi / Banderite background who fought and continue to fight on the Ukrainian government side.

It ignores the invitation by the self-declared independent people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk to Russia to come to their defence.

It ignores the grievances that the Russian speaking people of these republics had about suppression and eradication of Russian culture and language in eastern Ukraine.

It ignores the fact that the city of Donetsk was routinely shelled with mortars and missiles by the Ukrainian side - hitting people's homes etc. This was because the Ukrainian side held the high ground to the west of the city. All this shelling stopped when the Russians finally took Avdiivka and the high ground and pushed the Ukrainian military back.

It ignores the way Zelenskyy's military kidnap unsuspecting males and put them on the front line. It ignores the using of people as cannon fodder in this war where countless lives have been lost due to a failure of diplomacy. It ignores he plan to solve the shortage of military of Ukraine by lowering the age for military conscription to 18!

It ignores the fact that there were at least 3 opportunities for settlement of this dispute and resolution of the core problems. Minsk 1, Minsk 2, and Instanbul.

It ignores the fact that the former German chancellor, Angela Merkel, actually admitted that Ukraine and its western backers never intended to implement the Minsk agreement fully - that they were just playing for time to build up the military to confront the separatists in Donetsk and Lugansk.

This is a problem somewhat akin to the past war in Northern Ireland. And as such it requires a solution which recognises the legitimate fears of both sides of this conflict.

 

Bravo. Exactly. It was refreshing to see an American president say emphatically " i want peace"
It is very clear Zelensky does not want peace. He was rude and demanding. I was not impressed.

 

Were we watching the same thing?
If Russia stopped fighting the war would end
If Ukraine stopped fighting Ukraine would end

 

The initial peacetalks with Russia were to stop fighting. Zelenskyy does not want peace. He wants US troops and ammo in the Ukraine to keep the Russians at bay. He does not want to sign a peace treaty. That's when things went south. He doesn't trust russia to actually stop fighting, or that they will build up their armory and strike again. Russia has agreed to a cease fire.

 

He wants his country safe…. The European countries will step forward ( since they have actually been providing more money then the US- fact)…

The United States has fallen on the world stage.. and for my catholic friends- USAID funded 50% of catholic charities

 

It might be wise to not mix the USAID fiasco with this thread.

But Ukraine now needs someone else to supply soldiers if resisting Russia is to continue, because Ukraine has wiped out their fighting-age population! I would be shocked if any other European nation is willing to take that step, and Trump will not oblige.

The whole thing was terrible and Zelensky seemed very childish. I wish it would have been done more respectfully behind closed doors, but I think that Trump wanted the world to see that Zelensky doesn't seem to want peace. Sometimes concessions just have to be made, when your country is losing a war, to get the bloodshed to stop. I don't understand enough to actually know what I'm talking about, but there's been so much strange about Ukraine...The elites seem to want Ukraine to be in this mess endlessly, and it sits very badly in my spirit. Zelensky seems to me to be immature, and the puppet of others. His endless words during the exchange with Trump and Vance seemed empty, like he was just told to make noise and not agree to anything. Just my opinion.

 

I think that's what the diplomats call a full and frank discussion.

 

And THESE are the facts which the western media routinely ignores.

According to colonel macgregor and other serious analysts 1 million Ukrainians and 100,000 Russians have died or been seriously injured in this needless war whose only purpose was to destroy or at least harm Russia so as to keep western hegemony.

Things didn’t quite turn out like that.
