    An interesting theory...

If Our Lady did not count Pope John Paul I in the list of popes relating to the Garabandal apparitions, it is possible that one could exclude the same pope from St. Malachy's list.

    That would mean that:

    * JP II is "Of the half moon" rather than "From the Labor of the Sun/Of the eclipse of the sun"

    * Benedict XVI is ""From the Labor of the Sun/Of the eclipse of the sun" rather than "Glory of the Olive"

    * Francis is "Glory of the Olive" rather than unknown or "Peter the Roman"

In light of that, one could possibly correlate Benedict XVI's abdication as part of the 'eclipsing' of the sun... Also, Pope Francis & Argentina have a connection to olives and planting them as part of representation for peace. Pope Francis planted olive trees several times to represent peace.

That would also mean that the Peter the Roman could be the next Pope to follow Francis. That man might even take on the name of Peter, which would be less taboo now that someone also took Francis.

Anyhow, just some interesting things to contemplate!

This has always puzzled me too because if Francis is the last then where is the Pope that rises up in St. John Bosco's dream? The one to attach the church to the two pillars. The pope to rise up and save the church from the enemy within. One would say that could be a whole new line of popes outside of Malachy's prophecy because he saw to the end of the church in the old era and a new smaller but with much richer faith church would once again rise from the ashes of the corrupt one and the corrupt pope.

    St John Bosco’s Vision
It is under the title of Our Lady Help of Christians that Saint John Bosco had his famous vision about Christ’s Church and the Blessed Virgin.

John Bosco was an Italian priest, who from childhood onward had vivid and mystical dreams which helped him in directing his life and which described in great detail conditions and events that would occur in the future. He persistently astounded those around him with the accuracy and precision of the prophecies he made that came to pass during his lifetime. He was also a miracle worker, healing thousands, and he was the founder of the Salesian Order. He and his followers helped tens of thousands of street children in Italy and in the Western Hemisphere develop job skills and a moral and spiritual life. He died in 1888. One of his more remarkable mystical dreams occurred in the spring of 1862, when he had a vision of the near-term future of his beloved Catholic Church. He described the dream as follows:

“Imagine yourself to be with me on the seashore, or better, on an isolated rock and not to see any patch of land other than that under your feet. On the whole of that vast sheet of water you see an innumerable fleet of ships in battle array. The prows of the ships are formed into sharp, spear-like points so that wherever they are thrust they pierce and completely destroy. These ships are armed with cannons, with lots of rifles, with incendiary materials, with other firearms of all kinds, and also with books, and advance against a ship very much bigger and higher than themselves and try to dash against it with the prows or burn it or in some way to do it every possible harm.

“As escorts to that majestic fully equipped ship, there are many smaller ships, which receive commands by signal from it and carry [IMG]out movements to defend themselves from the opposing fleet. In the midst of the immense expanse of sea, two mighty columns of great height arise a little distance the one from the other. On the top of one, there is the statue of the Immaculate Virgin, from whose feet hangs a large placard with this inscription: Auxilium Christianorum—“Help of Christians”; on the other, which is much higher and bigger, stands a Host of great size proportionate to the column and beneath is another placard with the words: Salus Credentium—Salvation of the Faithful.

“The supreme commander of the big ship is the Sovereign Pontiff. He, seeing the fury of the enemies and the evils among which his faithful find themselves, determines to summon around himself the captains of the smaller ships to hold a council and decide what is to be done.

“All the captains come aboard and gather around the Pope. They hold a meeting, but meantime the wind and the waves gather in storm, so they are sent back to control their own ships. There comes a short lull; for a second time the Pope gathers the captains around him, while the flag-ship goes on its course. But the frightful storm returns. The Pope stands at the helm and all his energies are directed to steering the ship towards those two columns from whose summits hang many anchors and strong hooks linked to chains.

“All the enemy ships move to attack it, and they try in every way to stop it and to sink it: some with books and writings or inflammable materials, of which they are full; others with firearms, with rifles and with rams. The battle rages ever more relentlessly. The enemy prows thrust violently, but their efforts and impact prove useless. They make attempts in vain and waste all their labor and ammunition; the big ship goes safely and smoothly on its way. Sometimes it happens that, struck by formidable blows, it gets large, deep gaps in its sides; but no sooner is the harm done that a gentle breeze blows from the two columns and the cracks close up and the gaps are stopped immediately.

“Meanwhile, the guns of the assailants are blown up, the rifles and other arms and prows are broken; many ships are shattered and sink into the sea. Then, the frenzied enemies strive to fight hand to hand, with fists, with blows, with blasphemy and with curses.

“Suddenly the Pope falls gravely wounded. Immediately, those who are with him run to help him and they lift him up. A second time the Pope is struck, he falls again and dies. A shout of victory and joy rings out amongst the enemies; from their ships an unspeakable mockery arises.

“But hardly is the Pontiff dead than another takes his place. The pilots, having met together, have elected the Pope so promptly that the news of the death of the Pope coincides with the news of the election of the successor. The adversaries begin to lose courage.

“The new Pope, putting the enemy to rout and overcoming every obstacle, guides the ship right up to the two columns and comes to rest between them; he makes it fast with a light chain that hangs from the bow to an anchor of the column on which stands the Host; and with another light chain which hangs from the stern, he fastens it at the opposite end to another anchor hanging from the column on which stands the Immaculate Virgin.

“At this point, a great convulsion takes place. All the ships that until then had fought against the Pope’s ship are scattered; they flee away, collide and break to pieces one against another. Some sink and try to sink others. Several small ships that had fought gallantly for the Pope race to be the first to bind themselves to those two columns. Many other ships, having retreated through fear of the battle, cautiously watch from far away; the wrecks of the broken ships having been scattered in the whirlpools of the sea, they in their turn sail in good earnest to those two columns, and having reached them, they make themselves fast to the hooks hanging down from them and their they remain safe, together with the principal ship, on which is the Pope. Over the sea their reigns a great calm.”

Now maybe the good Pope was Benedict, and Francis is truly not valid so doesn't count in the line and the new Pope, Peter the Roman is the final pope still in this story. Words like soon, immediately etc, mean a whole different thing to us than God's time. Francis did not do for the church what this dream suggests. He is like the enemy that infiltrated in. He was placed on the chair by man ie Soros possibly and when history looks back may even be declared invalid. Did you see that Cardinal Vigano wants DOGE to investigate the plot to remove Benedict?

With PF age and current health crisis, I’m seeing the proverbial lists of potential next popes. I can’t imagine anyone elected of taking the name Peter II, so I wonder if this means the next Pope’s first name will be Peter. I’ve seen a few cardinals on those lists with the name Peter.

I suppose it does little good to speculate. I know the future Convlave does the will of God even if it’s political and manipulative. It’s a great mystery that God’s permissible will allows us humans to use free will. All we can do is pray.

The next pope will likely choose the name John as a message that he intends to stabilize the course set by Vatican II and as an appeal to the Johannine motto, "That they may all be one."

His name doesn't have to be Peter or even take the name of Peter. It could always refer to something else tied to Rome. Peter the Roman could signify that the last pope on the list will bring the church back anew and thus a brand new start. That would make complete sense how God works. The church is reborn and reborn back to how it started. This new pope could be from Rome or have some other connection and thus St. Malachy called him Peter the Roman. The first shall be last and the last shall be first. Plus this won't be the last Pope, just the last Pope in this era. I would think we have many many more to go after the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. This pope will take us to that era God willing and please come soon!

Perhaps he will only become similar to the first Peter when facing persecution or martyrdom. As for the epithet "The Roman" in Saint Malachy's motto for the last pope, it is difficult to take it literally, considering the current composition of the College of Cardinals. In fact, the last pope born in Rome was Pius XII.

  9. I think it is cardinal or Bishop Pizzabella. Pierbattista is his first name. Pier means Peter and rock. Also he is italian...he struck me as extremely humble.

Yes, you only got his last name wrong,Pizzaballa, which is not very hard to do. His double name sounds like a combination of Peter and John the Baptist. I believe the only factor that works against his chances in a future conclave is that he is very young. I might be misreading the situation, but I think this same factor reduces the chances of Tagle and Zuppi in the next conclave.

My personal interpretation of the “Prophecy of the Popes” is that “Peter the Roman” isn’t the last Pope, just the last Pope to be in Rome before its destruction. I think he’s the martyr pope. Only later comes the Angelic Pontiff (Pizzaballa actually fits a lot of the qualifications!) and then his successors (during the Triumph).

Wow!! This guy is interesting especially given what his role is and diocese he serves. His official seat is in what most consider the most holy place in all of the Church in the Holy Sepulchre!! That is wild:

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem (Latin: Patriarchatus Latinus Hierosolymitanus) is the Latin Catholic ecclesiastical patriarchate in Jerusalem, officially seated in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It was originally established in 1099, with the Kingdom of Jerusalem encompassing the territories in the Holy Land newly conquered by the First Crusade. From 1374 to 1847 it was a titular see, with the patriarchs of Jerusalem being based at the Basilica di San Lorenzo fuori le Mura in Rome. Pope Pius IX re-established a resident Latin patriarch in 1847.

The Latin patriarch of Jerusalem is now the archbishop of Latin Church Catholics of the Archdiocese of Jerusalem with jurisdiction for all Latin Catholics in Israel, Palestinian authority, Jordan and Cyprus. The Latin patriarch of Jerusalem also holds the office of grand prior of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. The office of Latin patriarch of Jerusalem became vacant on 24 June 2016, and the patriarchate was managed by Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa as apostolic administrator. Pizzaballa was appointed Latin patriarch on 24 October 2020.[1] He took possession of the see on 6 November 2020.

It is exempt, being directly subject to the Holy See (and exceptionally its Roman Congregation for the Oriental Churches, which normally handles Eastern Catholics). It is not within an ecclesiastical province, and has no metropolitan functions.

The title of patriarch in the Latin Church is retained by only five archbishops: the Latin patriarchs of Jerusalem, of the West (being the pope himself), of Venice, of Lisbon and of the East Indies. Until 1964, there had also been the honorary patriarchal titles of Constantinople, Alexandria and Antioch; still others were abolished earlier.

Outside the Catholic Church, the title of "Patriarch of Jerusalem" is also used by the Greek Orthodox patriarch, the Armenian patriarch, and within the Catholic Church it is also used titularly by the Melkite patriarch.

When Pope Francis met with Russian Patriarch Kirill in 2016 in an attempt at reconciliation, they agreed to hold the meeting in Havana because it was considered a "religiously neutral territory" for both.

Jerusalem is a neutral territory because, paradoxically, it both unites and divides the three religions descended from Abraham at the same time.

Imagine that the ecclesiastical event of the Day of the Great Miracle is a Patriarchal Council bringing together leaders of the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church in an attempt to achieve a unified expression of faith—or at least the beginning of one, such as the unification of Easter. In this case, Pizzaballa could participate, honoring his office as the Patriarch of Jerusalem while also highlighting the sacred role of the first among equals, which emanates from the Apostolic See of Rome.

I’ve always thought it was the beginning of the unification. Then I imagine the great and final Church council will be convened and will declare numerous dogmas and bring the Church to her golden age.
