    Hmm I beg to differ.

The popes below were very bad popes.

What we’ve had since 2013 is an entirely different animal.
    • Pope Stephen VI (896–897), had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.
    • Pope John XII (955–964), gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Distinction must be made between dangers to the body and to that of the soul. One thing to be a sinner and cause great scandal; an entirely different thing to attempt to undermine the very fundamentals of the Faith.

    I think you’re exactly right.

To try to supersede the words of Our Lord and 2,000 years of tradition with a new globalist “gospel” had never been attempted before.

BXVI "went along with it" because it is all part of God's providential plan for Salvation History. The Plan (God's Plan) is outlined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (675, 676, 677). The Roman Catholic Church serves a purpose in that Plan. The Roman Catholic Church had a beginning, and it will have an end. The end occurs when the Antichrist usurps the highest authority in the Church of Jesus Christ. At that point, Jesus and Mary step back in.

We know we are in the time of the end (what the CCC calls "The Church's Ultimate Trial) because what is happening has no human solution. BXVI was wise enough to understand this. And, we should also expect that, as a true Pope, the Holy Spirit was guiding him in his decision.

God's ways are not our ways. But He gives us many clues to figure out what His ways are. One of these clues was given to St. Malachy in his Prophecy of the Popes. There are many other prophecies that tell us the same things. It should be blatantly clear that we are within a handful of years before all of these prophecies of the "end times" are fulfilled.

Instead of fearing Jesus Second Coming, prepare for him and be excited that you will finally see Him and His Mother face to face [2 Timothy 4:8].

  7. One thing that I read that puzzles me is that Pope Francis calls the Bishop in Gaza every night from the hospital.

I've known many people with pneumonia, including myself, and I know that facetiming on a call during this severe illness seems pretty impossible.
It just sticks with me that the big blow up of Catholic Charities and the stinging letter of Pope Francis to the Bishops in U.S. preceded this illness.
The timing is just crazy and none of it sits well with me.

I feel the same way. Now that the Bishops have lost their free money they are getting nasty. Pope Francis calling JD names doesn’t make sense to me. Like they are trying to divide the church. One report says the Pope is on his way out, the next one says he is up and chatting and in a chair. Not with pneumonia! I see many things crumbling right now. Even the weather is strange.

EricH, for you, I will post this again.

The Antichrist will appear to die, but will be healed. This is confirmed by St. John in Apocalypse 13. All the Church Fathers agree with this interpretation of St. John's words.

St. Hildegard von Bingen relates the same situation, but with a bit more information. Keep in mind the St. Hildegard is using prophetic language, so the events might not occur exactly as described:

St. Hildegard von Bingen on the Antichrist’s pretended death

    From Scivias:

But I [the Antichrist] will die for you and to your glory, and rise again from death; and so I will deliver my people from Hell, that you may live gloriously with me in my kingdom, as that deceiver [Jesus] pretended He had done before." And he will tell his beloved ones to run him through with a sword and wrap him in a clean shroud, until the day of his resurrection. And he will delude them into thinking they are killing him, and so they will fulfill his commands. Then he will pretend to rise again, and bring out a writing as if for the salvation of souls, which is really a dire curse. And he will give this to people for a sign and command them to adore him. And if any person of faith refuses for love of My name, he will kill that person in great suffering and torture. And thus all who see and hear this will be struck with great wonder and doubtful amazement, as My beloved John shows... (Scivias, Book III, Vision 11, 31).

    From Book of Divine Works:

For so too will he [the Antichrist] pretend to die, as if to redeem his people by his death, and to raise himself up again to return to life. He will also have an inscription written upon the foreheads of his followers, through which to introduce into them every evil, as too the ancient serpent, after deceiving humankind, kept them captive by stoking them with lust. Through that scripture he will inspire them by magical craft to oppose baptism and the Christian name, so that they will not desire to leave him, and all will style themselves after him, just as Christians are named after Christ. (The Fathers of the Church, Mediaeval Continuation, Volume 18. St. Hildegard Von Bingen, The Book of Divine Works. Pages 469, Part III, Vision 5, Chapter 31).

Speculation: Perhaps he resigned because it was discerned that the resignation was the only way for "all the poison lurking in the mud to hatch out". And if it was that bad, what could the "good cardinals" really do at that point that would not lead to the complete shattering of the Church? imho, the good ones are working at shoring up the faith of the "little children" who are fighting to keep their faith in the midst of this trial. Pope Benedict's last public contribution to that effort, imho, was to contribute to the book written by Cardinal Sarah to help shore up the good priests. Cardinal Sarah was removed from his post the same day it was published, if memory serves. Perhaps that is what they were called to do, and not an easy task either. Those called to be the warriors are doing their work, maybe not perfectly, but they are doing it be they archbishops or laity. What's being exposed now would have been unfathomable for most of us to even imagine, let alone believe to be true.

This coming Lent is not going to be like those of years gone by ~

  14. Yes. The condition of the Church right now affects everything on earth..
I feel like I'm at a tennis game, looking to the left and then quick to the right.
And I see many are questioning the same things, so I know I'm not too crazy lol

I have often wondered if BXVI had divine guidance in doing what he did--in other words it was time for the restrainer to be removed. Of course there is no way to know nor is it my right to know. Just giving in to speculation.

Pope Francis is in stable condition and his blood tests indicate a slight improvement, as the 88-year-old pontiff continues to battle pneumonia in hospital.

"The Holy Father's clinical conditions appear to be stable," said a Vatican statement released at just after 7p.m. local time on Wednesday evening, Feb 19. "Blood tests, evaluated by the medical staff, show a slight improvement, particularly in inflammatory markers."

The statement also noted that the pope read newspapers and did some work with some of closest advisers. He also received the Eucharist prior to lunch.

While Francis has undergone four hospitalizations — two related to intestinal surgeries and two for respiratory complications — this marks the most serious health crisis of his 12-year papacy. The pope has been hospitalized for six days for a respiratory infection that has developed into pneumonia in both lungs.

Vatican sources say the pope does not need supplemental oxygen and that he is getting out of bed to sit in an arm chair from time to time. They also note that the pontiff's heart remains in good condition.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, visited the pope to offer him well wishes for a speedy recovery.

"I am very happy to have found him alert and responsive," she said in a statement. "We joked as always. He has not lost his legendary sense of humor."

With the exception of a few close papal aides, Meloni is the first known outside visitor to call on the pope since his hospitalization began six days ago. According to a Vatican statement, the two spent 20 minutes together meeting in private.

On social media, U.S. Vice President JD Vance also issued a Feb. 18 appeal on behalf of the pontiff.

"Let's all say a prayer for Pope Francis, who appears to have some serious health issues," he wrote.
