There is no control when the imperial empire has got your back. When anything goes, funnily enough, anything tends to go.
I never said this was a mere social media site, though this accusation keeps being leveled at me. However there are patterns which happen here which are common to all message boards which I have pointed out. Not everyone will agree with each post, there will be different kinds of consensus formed, people may say seemingly mean things. You also have yet to see where Mark or others were supposedly treated unjustly, he only made allegations. Being that you are a staff member, perhaps you are better informed about this. Did a bunch of users pile on Mark or others unjustly at some point regarding the Israel/Palestine conflict? Because I do not believe it even happened in the first place. If it did happen, which I doubt entirely, it happened months ago and the guy is still holding onto such grudges, derailing threads regarding it. I kindly replied to his post the first time, the second time he went into his grudges I made a point. He clearly has no interest in having a conversation, and wants everyone to apologize to him or something. My conscience is not bothered at all, I stand by what I said initially.
“France won’t tolerate ‘deliberate’ targeting of UN peacekeepers by Israel”, says Macron French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday condemned the “deliberate” targeting of UN peacekeepers by Israel, stating that France will not tolerate such actions after two peacekeepers were injured in Lebanon, as reported by France 24. Earlier, France summoned the Israeli ambassador to discuss attacks on three UN bases in southern Lebanon, which the French foreign ministry described as “serious violations of international law.” The ministry added, “The Israeli authorities must explain themselves,” France 24 reported." https://risingkashmir.com/france-wo...ing-of-un-peacekeepers-by-israel-says-macron/ "As of May 29, 2024, there were 72,255 United Nations (UN) peacekeepers. These peacekeepers are deployed across 11 peacekeeping operations in regions such as Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East." There are around 200 countries in the world. With around 10,000 from each country, they would have 2 Million. I don't understand why they don't have a much larger peacekeeping force. Anyway, Israel will keep doing this if it feels it can get away with it. With some pushback, hopefully they may stop. Attacking an international peacekeeping force is shameful. Hopefully, things change soon.
"Israeli missile destroys Catholic church in Lebanon; at least 8 dead "A church of the Melkite Greek Catholic Eparchy of Tyre, Lebanon, was hit by a missile from Israeli airstrikes in the country’s south Oct. 9, killing at least eight people, the British branch of the pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) has reported. Local sources told ACN that the church, located in the town of Derdghaya, was sheltering people displaced by the conflict. A priest’s house and a three-story building housing parish offices were also completely destroyed by another missile. Pope Francis called for peace in the Middle East on X, stating that “all nations have the right to exist in peace and security: Their territories must not be attacked, their sovereignty must be respected and guaranteed through dialogue and peace.” https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/...ys-catholic-church-in-lebanon-at-least-8-dead
Indeed, it sums up this oasis of reason. For my own part, I find this Mark affair a storm in a tea-cup. Maybe I'm not very sensitive, but I saw nothing wrong in those disputed exchanges. There are some people who are very quick to take offense and use it as a 'passive-aggressive' tactic. And, as I pointed out in one of my earlier posts, while he couldn't take it, he was well able to dish it out. Anyway, sometimes one needs to generate a little heat in order to produce light.
This forum is not for everyone. A lot of people have left over the years for various reasons but I am sure many who do still will have an occasional look at the forum.
In all sincerity, I was actually being charitable. Because when people act like that, often no one has called them out on it. I was hoping the guy would feel a bit embarrassed by his behavior and snap out of it.
I don't know about language barriers here but Americans like Victor Davis Hanson and Larry Kudlow have a far different opinion than I of the definition of Western civilisation. I've seen videos where they declared that the Israelis are defending Western civilisation. Perhaps demonic savagery is what passes for civilisation in their corner of the globe but I wish they wouldn't pass it off as applying to the entire West. For anyone concerned about the trustworthiness of sources, here it is straight from the horse's mouth. Perpetrators of genocide tend to suffer from the master race delusion and the Zionists are no different. They're so proud of their evil that they like to boast about their war crimes. And here they are demonstrating how they terrorise the Palestinians as they steal their land in the West Bank: In case TRT doesn't meet the standards of forum members, maybe the BBC will be more acceptable, although it is the BBC World Service: Fortunately, Jews with a conscience have the courage to oppose evil. Unfortunately, many of them point out, accurately, that the greatest number of Zionists in the US are Christians. Shamefully, the worst of the genocidal zionists is the apostate in the White House who no doubt continues to receive Communion every Sunday. Genocide deniers in the US can huff and puff to their hearts' content as they scratch around for excuses for what they are funding, arming and their military is aiding and abetting but the rest of the world sees and will remember. I suggest that those of you with children get down on your knees and pray that collective punishment doesn't come back to you because what's done to Palestinian children would shame even the demons. A Jewish American doctor who spent time in a Gaza hospital before the IDF demolished it described seeing the bodies of pre-teen children who had been shot twice, first in the chest and then in the head. As he said, nobody shoots a child twice by mistake. Those children's parents have feelings, even if they aren't quite as human as Jews or civilised Westerners. Whose feelings matter more: those parents' feelings or the feelings of people who can't be bothered checking into the targets of the hundreds of plane loads of munitions being supplied by their own government? All empires come to an end eventually. Any good done by Americans in the past will forever be overshadowed by this genocide. The rest of us can hang our heads in shame too because we know it's wrong but all, even the UN, cower in fear of American wrath. In years to come, only the Yemenis will be able to look the Palestinians in the eye.
I think the Americans you mentioned confuse material wealth with civilization, something which is rather common with my countrymen.
IMO Bibi and company are pulling out all the stops because they currently believe, delusional or not, that they can currently eliminate all of their perceived enemies. Which is why you see weird propaganda like "Israel being the beacon of democracy in the middle east". Which is why Israel can accurately target their enemies with exploding pagers, but cannot figure out that an attack by Hamas was imminent before Oct 7th, even when Egypt told Israel. They are a nation of only 9 million, surrounded by roughly half a billion in other Islamic nations. The only reason they have come as far as they have, is because they have the US in their pocket. It has finally been announced that US troops are going to Israel. https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-...-israel-operate-missile-defence-system-report It also isn't a question of if Israel will launch a counter attack on Iran but when. It appears to be imminent. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/us-officials-israel-iran-strikes-targets-rcna175140 So the questions for me are these. Is Israel ready to kill millions of people for it's security? Is the US ready to follow Israel into a conflict with Iran? because clearly a nation of only 9 million cannot do this on it's own.
