There was a police detective one time who deeply believed all banks and bankers were good and so never did anything wrong. This did not aid him in his career he never arrested a single banker or brought a single bank to book . His discernment his detective work was skewed to see no wrong. It is the same thing with apparition sites and visionaries. If we believe so strongly they are right we may end up like the detective in no longer exercising proper discernment. We always believe things to be right because we want them to be right and because we cannot conceive a possibility of them being wrong. But it is far, far better for true discernment to take each message on its own merits. Thus maintaining objectivity . I don't think that this is happening here . I think people are casting round for reasons for it to be right because somehow they think it has to be right . This is not discernment, it is confirmation of innate bias. Like the poor detective with the banks.
The messages have been going on for 40+ years and have born much good fruit. For this I give the benefit of the doubt.
This aptly describes how most of us have been taught over the past few decades; we haven't been taught to think, we've been taught what to think. A great injustice was done to many minds, including my own, as not being able to think clearly for oneself is a great impediment to seeking, finding and believing in the Truth, regardless of what others think or believe. When people could actually think for themselves, they at least could make a good effort to get along because what was considered right and wrong was mostly agreed upon. Very small children are growing in to this problem now as they progress in their "schooling". It's not difficult to notice this phenomena if you spend time with grandchildren, etc. They are not being taught how to think, but what to think. If they wander off they are herded back or shamed. If you are not part of the "collective", you are, as St. Anthony the Great predicted, considered to be mad. And as Father Ripperger recently said, we are all infected by this in one way or another. What's the antidote? Imho, we are too far gone for anything now but Divine Intervention of some sort.
The antidote is to pray the rosary and meditate on the mysteries continuously so that ones cognition is conformed to the gospel. The rosary is the weapon for these times.
I love this. Mark 8:24-25 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
It is!! But that can't be done by anyone but our own selves.....Not our spouses, our siblings, etc. We can pray for people, but we can't pray FOR them. We can do this ourselves, as individuals, and hopefully someone notices the difference it makes in how we live and act.........just do what you can and leave the rest to Him. That's all God expects of us, imho.
I am not claiming all the messages are wrong just this simple one One bad apple does not a bad harvest make. There are many examples of saints and mystics making errors in the past. Just the same it does give pause and makes one wonder If your engine gives you trouble you might say it usually runs fine I'll drive on . But the best course is to stop the car, lift the hood and look under the hood to check. Cars don't fix themselves. Neither do bad messages
Whats scary is this. Satan plays the long game. He will be glad to give you consolations and good feelings and "miracles" of a sort. If in the end he can infiltrate poison with one false strand. As I heard a preacher say once "he will cure your cold in order to give you cancer" Not making judgements on anything. Just saying if your Holy Spirit " spidy senses" are tingling you/we must pay attention.
The greatest saints of our time & before battled evil spirits. St Faustina burned her journal thinking Jesus told her to. What makes us think the Medjugorje visionaries are immune?
I've had reservations about this particular seer, Marija, in the past. But I've never met her in person, as I have several of the others. There's just been some strange things connected to her. I'll tell you something though. I am NO fan of Terry, the guy who runs Caritas of Alabama and refers to himself as "A Friend of Medjugorje." And since he is very involved with Marija, that may color my strange feelings concerning her.
I have met Marija & attended one of her apparitions. What's more, her niece is our local guide. Please forgive association w him. I don't know enough about him but I am sure of her!!
While, we're on subject of Marija, the visionary, (but not that there's any relevance in the following...) Quite awhile back, I think I had read somewhere... that Marija's husband is Archbishop Vigano's nephew. Correct me, if I'm mistaken.
Oh, there it is... (re: Vigano /Marija) From in this article.... https://medjugorje.com/no-middle-ground/
