I did say “some” so it’s not generic. Because of confidentiality of my family, I can’t go into details. I will say my daughter attended TLM while at university for two years and had a negative experience with it. We actually occasionally attend TLM when we are able, in different provinces and love it. So obviously, I am not anti TLM. But when you hang around “some” folks and they can come across arrogant and trash novo ordo, priests, bishops etc. Some saying it’s not valid…. Derogatory comments about women, that can be very demeaning. This is from the young adults we are hearing these things. Most of this seems to come from the younger attendees. I think there’s lots of problem in novo ordo as well. But I have seen when both coexist under the same roof, there’s also problems with divisiveness between novo Ordo and TLM. These comments are coming from me and families who love TLM.
I think Pres Trump is weighing in on a lot of things right now. The first priority is getting elected. Then cleaning out the swamp. He can’t do it alone, he needs strong Godly men. If God gives us the time. I think we have run out of time. But you know the world is watching and holding its breath.
Many TLM Orders are working hard against a negative spirit and greater unity with the Body of Christ. Even our priests who support TLM are aware of some issues. I don’t agree with stopping them at all, but I do believe there has to be openness to dialogue in areas, without out people being told they are against the Mass, when some who attend are troubled by some attitudes in the community.
Does anyone who attends Latin Mass and do the Latin breviary? If I became a member of the Latin Mass, could I still do the current breviary? Being a Carmelite I am promised to the current breviary. Just wondering…. Also, what 1962 daily missal do you recommend. I see there are two to choose from.
As far as I know there are 2 most often used. 1) The New Roman Missal by Fr Lasance and 2) the 1962 Roman Catholic missal. I own both and both are great. At least in my area (when parishes were allowed a Latin Mass) find that most churches used the second one. I think the 1962 Roman Catholic Missal is a little easier to follow. I believe Taylor Marshall did a YouTube video comparing and discussing the differences.
In our third order Carmelite community about 1/3 attend the Latin Mass. I think all use the brievery in English. You would fit right in in our group...But we also observe the great fast, daily Mass, mental prayer, Liturgy of the Hours, abstain from meat etc...We strive to live out the Rule of St Albert as fully as possible, not excusing ourselves for light reasons. So, I don't see any reason you can't attend Latin Mass and use the brievery you have promised to pray.
We follow Canadian Constitutions. The only difference would be the Great Fast. Our community does the rest. Thank you
It’s very confusing because he calls himself a Christian Libertarian. But his company Palantir wants to spy on us. That’s not at all Libertarian. Also, found an article saying he’s an FBI informant. I am weary of how JD Lance became a Catholic with a practicing Hindu wife, and his association with Pete Thiel, as well as, his wishy washy stand on abortion. It just seems so calculated with his book and then movie. Is it possible he is the CIA version of a right wing Obama? Forgive my cynicism. I pray I’m wrong. May God keep Trump safe, and may JD Vance be good for the future of the U.S.https://www.businessinsider.com/pet...les-johnson-johnathan-buma-chs-genius-2023-10
Hi, Copied link from on other thread... and post it here for you of this article that JD Vance wrote. Maybe this possibly may answer a few questions or thoughts you have? https://thelampmagazine.com/blog/how-i-joined-the-resistance
This is wonderful. Thank you for the link. A raw honest confession of how he ended up a Catholic. The Hand of God is at work in our world right now. Tonight's speech by Trump may well be touched by that. I pray it is.
Yes, I can now better understand where you are coming from. Thank you for clarifying. I know what you mean. There are what I call "rad trads" out there who come across arrogant and who trash Novus, Ordo, priests, bishops. I agree, this is not good. In fact, if you search the internet for traditional Catholic forums, you will find they are full of rad trads. That is a shame. I think many rad trads are in danger of losing their eternal life because of their pharisaic attitude. Yes, there are also problems with Novus Ordo, although different ones. We are living in a time of diabolical disorientation, we have been warned by the messages of Fatima! Thank you for loving both the Novus Ordo and the TLM. Our Holy Catholic Church needs more people like you. I am interested in what TLM group your daughter attended. I mean just the general group, was it FSSP, SSPX, or a sedevacantist group or something else? I am asking because, perhaps, if you wish, I can share my thoughts. I am also interested because I am still building a mental landscape of the Holy Catholic Church in terms of how to direct my family. God bless!
Since you mentioned "independent groups", I guess your daughter might have attended classic sedevacantist groups (those who believe that there has been no Pope since 1958). These groups are not Catholic (confirmed by Bishop Athanasius Schneider). In particular, they don't believe in the papacy, and according to their beliefs, the Holy Catholic Church has essentially failed, which is unbiblical. Classic sedevacantist groups do attract many rad trads (people who emphasise form over substance, which is pharisaical, and are primarily politically driven, as opposed to spiritually driven. It would not surprise me if your daughter had a negative experience there. I think it is important not to mix rad trad groups with Catholic TLM societies, such as FSSP, SSPX, or the Institute of Christ the King. Rad trad groups think they are Catholic because they celebrate the TLM (which is the beautiful Mass of all ages), but that does not make them Catholic. To be Catholic, one has to be also in communion with the Holy Catholic Church. So I think it is important not to hold negative experiences from rad trad chapels against the mainstream TLM societies. Perhaps something to discuss with your daughter. I am very sad to hear about your daughters experience. Keen to hear more (which group), as I am still forming my own opinion in this field. I come from atheism, then Protestantism, then liberal Novus Ordo Catholic, then Opus Dei and conservative Novus Ordo parishes, then diocesan TLM, then Ecclesia Dei-groups (TLM), now SSPX. I am not going to go any further, I have not intention of joining any rad trad group (God willing, I won't get excommunicated). God bless!
It was a parish that was novo ordo, but had an FSSP priest come in for one Mass every Sunday. It’s not the priest, it’s really the young adults. Thank you for being open to dialogue . Yes, my daughter was also on a few of the online groups you mentioned and it turned her off quickly. Such a shame. Not sure what the answer is to that. Anyway, thanks for chatting. Our family is heading to TLM at the end of the month and look forward to it. God bless
Thank God I was not flying anywhere at the moment, the poor passengers must think they are in hell: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp4wnrxqlewo
