I firmly believe that the work spoken of regarding abortion etc, has to come from the ground and move its way up until no one "agrees" that ending a life is an option, etc. Imho, that change will come from individual Catholics living their Faith, and living it without apologizing for it or making excuses for it. Just "be" a Catholic. Living an authentic faith leads to the greatest joy and hope, and people notice that and wonder, why are they so happy, or at the least, at peace with life. It cannot be forced though. And it won't happen because DJT is president. But perhaps he will provide the room for Catholics to in fact live out their faith in peace. The current guy (along with his "friends") appears to do everything in his power to hinder that.. ..

  3. It's starting to look as though the shooter wasn't politically motivated, in my opinion. Weird turn of events.

I'm also concerned by a lot of the conspiracy theories I'm seeing around, I don't know why people would think most of this nonsense.

A couple of thoughts here. The President and Vice President for that matter are the leaders of the United States and all the people within the United States. They are not just the leaders of the Christians in the United States. They have to govern to all. Their faith is a huge part of who they are as they are of all leaders and through their faith in leadership, the hope is that faith rubs off to others. Being upset that there are speakers from other beliefs than ours seems so familiar to when Peter and Paul got into over gentiles versus jews. Christians are to be shining beacons in this world to attract all to Christ. That attraction can take years but seeds need to be planted. Are we to not want others to be involved in this movement to save the US? If we only want Christians then I don't think the job will get done because many Christians still vote blue due to long long histories in that party. Do I personally want to hear prayers to other gods, no but it didn't offend me to see that because there are different beliefs in this world. Do I want any form of abortion? Absolutley not, but I get that an all or nothing candidate will not and has not been able to win. To defeat the evils of the world the Christian leaders need to win and plant seeds and lead by example to begin to turn others who have differing beliefs. Look at how God works. He always chose the broken and changed them. Trump to me still fits that same narrative that you read about over and over again in the bible. We shall see if he is a changed man now and how those beliefs could change but even if his internal beliefs may have now changed over issues like abortion and we don't hear about those changes in the run up to the election, I personally am ok with that because I am thinking about the bigger picture here. If he is truly chosen by God, then we have to get him elected and let the work that God will do through him, come to fruition. Who knows, maybe he wasn't saved by God and it was pure luck. That could still play out ahead but for me it is worth my vote to see where it goes because the other candidate is awful and the people behind him are truly trying to destroy the world.

Vance to me is a great candidate. I loved his speech last night. There is much we don't know about him but we do know he has lived a very hard life and was pulled out of nothing to where he is now. I also don't think we can dismiss someone just because he is Catholic and his wife is not. Let me ask all of you, how many others do you know personally that one spouse is Catholic and the other is not whether they may be protestant or something else or nothing at all. I know many but there is one Catholic voice and leader that that family. In this case of Vance that leader is the father and about to be the Vice President of this nation. Is he like Biden and Pelosi and not a true Catholic, time will tell, but I will say this, he lives in Cincinnati. This city is very Catholic and this city has a beautiful, huge protector that hangs high over the whole city in the Blessed Mother. This city also gave the world Sister Mary Ephram and Our Lady of America. Have faith, hope and trust in the Lord and his plan. It is always at work but I truly believe we saw it at work this past Saturday and for that I am so hopeful for a turning of this country and the world!

Yes, Canton, (I was thinking Steubenville) so that's about 4 hours from Cincy. Now just south of Cincy where I live, is that giant Sacred Heart flag that was hung up over the interstate.

This is incredible writing. I also find it amazing how Vance put virtue over prosperity and God made him VP. He sounds like he has a relentless and crushing conscience. Yet in spite of all of this, he also supports Israel completely. I have to question, where this kind of position comes from, because I don't believe it is entirely political. Reconciling the full support of Israel with what Vance wrote, for me is difficult.

I watched JD Vance giving his speech this evening. He was so inspirational and I found his story quite emotional. Every human being is flawed in some way but if their hearts are open and good God can and will use them. Even though I am not American I pray for both Trump & Vance to be led by the Lord and that America will recover its soul and faith. I think if America completes its mission then all our countries will be restored.

I went to school with a girl who was raised Catholic and married an Indian gentleman who was Hindu. I would hope that Catholics would not dismiss JD Vance because his wife is Hindu. I do believe however, that his wife’s faith is a point of interest for Catholics, including myself, because many of us will be praying for her conversion.

I only knew about him through reading reviews of his book on the hillbillies. I had certainly liked and admired him for such an anti-zeitgeist book.

Consider this: three prominent proposers of peace in the Ukraine:

The Japanese Prime Minister-shot dead by a 'random' gunman.

The Slovakian Prime Minister-survived being shot by a 'random' gunman.

    Donald Trump...

Of course, nothing to see here, but Victor Orban should be locking his front door every night, may God protect him.

  19. Similar to what I was thinking, I don't think the shooter was politically motivated but if he was hired whoever hired him was. The only things that seem plausible to me are that he was hoping to become something akin to a comic book villain and the rally just happened to be in town (like he would have done the same thing to Biden if given the opportunity) or that he was hired. It would certainly cause a lot of political problems if it's the latter.

I got to see Orban speak a couple years ago in Budapest (had no clue what he was saying but it was still fun, lol). In retrospect there wasn't that much security (Hungary is stunningly safe), so I hope they're taking more precautions.

  20. The shooter was in a Blackrock commercial in his high-school. The shooter was obviously there and even the crowd was pointing at him. Pretty obvious especially with a ladder.
