Apparently the term "deaconesses in the spirit" comes from an early Christian treatise Didascalia Apostolorum. "Appoint a woman for the ministry of women. For there are homes to which you cannot send a deacon to their women, on account of the heathen, but you may send a deaconess ... I also have no idea if the German deaconesses will only be ministering to women, which seems to be the role they were originally given according to Didascalia Apostolorum.
Prayers. There is not really anything we can do about these things as laypeople but pray and leave it all in the Hands of God. I do feel for Faithful German Catholics though it must be agonising for them. At the time of the Protestant rebellion in Germany it was very common for Catholic Archbishops and Bishops to become Protestant and indeed entire Dioceses and Archdioceses to switch and become Protestant. So I suppose there is nothing really new in any of this. None of us will go to hell for what other people do. So we will just have to pray for them and leave them to it.
