Hi all, I've just heard the Irish bishops are to consecrate Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the 15th August next!! Please God this will turn the abortion legislation on its head.
I am thrilled about this, I participated in the Rosary crusade for this intention and signed the petition which went to the bishops... an answer to prayer!
It was done twice before Padraig. The first time was c.1650-1, during the same assembly of the Confederation of Kilkenny at Loughrea that recognised the Marquis of Clanrickard as viceroy of Ireland, the first such appointment of a Catholic since the Reformation, and the second time by the Irish bishops in the late 19th century. But I'm not complaining, it seems like good news to me!
Actually there are differences between these previous consecrations anyways. These occurred in 1650, when we were consecrated to Our Lady, under her title of Immaculate Conception, as Patroness of Ireland, and 1873 when we were consecrated by the Bishops to the Sacred Heart of Our Lord.
"AND THE LAMB WILL CONQUER AND THE WOMAN CLOTHED WITH THE SUN WILL SHINE HER LIGHT ON EVERYONE...YES THE LAMB WILL CONQUER...!" Yes, please do send this Good News far and wide! Blast it from the Roof Tops. Let us assemble in our thousands for Our Lady on the 15th August -(Our lady of Knock's Shrine) be there for Her as She has always been there for each of us. Ad Jesum Per Mariam (To Jesus through Mary)
As an American with Irish ancestry, I would love to be there in person, but will be there with you all in spirit.
More news on this... I've heard from a reliable source that Ireland is not to be named in the consecration.. Only some bishops will be present.. and the consecration prayer is to include individuals, families etc but not naming Ireland.
I'd like to know what people will be mentioned in this? is this another all too familiar 'It's not what you know, it's who you know' situation? If it is, I'll despair...
The US was last consecrated to Our Lady on November 6, 2006. Pilgrims in Medj prayed a patriotic rosary (where each of the 50 Hail Mary's represented a state being consecrated) during the time of the consecration in the US and Mirjana was very happy when she heard of the consecration, and joined in the special rosary. From an article: Mirjana, who was upstairs from the dining room, heard the group praying this special Rosary, singing the patriotic prayer songs between each decade, and she came down and joined the pilgrims for the rest of the Rosary—they in their English language, she in Croatian. The prayer was very deep and reverent. At the end of the Rosary, Mirjana asked all those present to join her in praying the seven Our Father’s, Hail Mary’s and Glory Be’s for the consecration of the United States to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart. Mirjana finished the prayer by saying, “God Bless America” and they then gathered around a computer in Mirjana’s home and listened live to the consecration that had just begun in Washington D.C. in the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Mirjana told her American pilgrims that when she heard that this consecration was going to take place, she cried, because she knew how happy this was going to make Our Lady. She said she only hopes that many other countries, seeing this example, will do the same. http://www.medjugorje.com/medjugorj...rselves-and-your-own-future-mirjana-talk.html http://americasfinesthour.info/pray...-states-of-america-to-the-holy-mother-of-god/
I'm thinking of heading to Knock for the Consecration. Would it be ok if I suggested that whoever from this site is thinking of going, that we might meet up for a cup of tea in the big dining hall there? For a nice chat? What do ye think?
