Argentinian Catholic lawyers ask Pope to revoke Fiducia supplians

ARGENTINIAN CATHOLIC LAWYERS CORPORATION PETITION TO THE HOLY FATHER

FOR LOVE OF THE TRUTH AND IN FIDELITY TO THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

The Catholic Lawyers Corporation of the Argentine Republic, publicly makes this petition to H.H. Francis, requesting the abrogation of the Declaration "Fiducia supplicans" of the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

This is due to the grave damage to the Faith and to moral customs that its content generates in the People of God through the teaching effect of the law, given that through the Declaration "blessings of couples in irregular situations and of same-sex couples" are permitted (n. 31), which implies that they are not made to the persons that integrate them individually and separately, but to the couples as such, in spite of maintaining a common life outside marriage, in an objective situation or close to the grave sins of adultery or fornicating or sodomitic concubinage, with the only condition that the couple requests it.

Rift widens over gay blessings as Hungarian bishops reject them but Indian cardinal says yes

India’s most senior cardinal has defended Fiducia Supplicans – the controversial new Vatican text approving non-liturgical blessings for same-sex unions – as a rebellion by bishops against the document spreads into Europe.

Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Mumbai (pictured with Pope Francis) said that in Indian culture, asking for and giving blessings is a widely accepted custom, a “natural” for his country, calling it “an affirmation of our spirituality and a gift”.

“Jesus never refused a blessing … that’s the idea,” he said, explaining his position in an interview with Crux.

The cardinal, a close adviser to Pope Francis, spoke shortly after the Hungarian bishops became the first major European church to reject the demands of the document by telling priests they must avoid blessing same-sex couples and others in irregular relationships.

His intervention is rare because, although most bishops have remained publicly silent about the document since its publication earlier this month, few have chosen to endorse it.

Increasing numbers of prelates are rejecting it, however, with bishops in such countries as Ukraine, Brazil, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Cameroon, Malawi, Nigeria, Angola, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Sao Tome and Principe, and Kazakhstan openly refusing to allow the blessings of same-sex couples in their dioceses.

On Wednesday, the Hungarian bishops’ conference collectively issued a statement to say priests must always avoid blessings “for couples who live together in a mere partnership, in a marriage that is not valid in the Church or in a same-sex partnership”.

In Britain, the Confraternity of Confraternity of Catholic Clergy, to which 500 priests belong, also issued a statement before Christmas to say the blessings of such irregular relationships were “pastorally and practically inadmissible”.

Cardinal Gracias argued, however, that in his opinion Fiducia Supplicans has been misunderstood.

“There is no change at all in the Church doctrine of a marriage between a man and a woman. The tradition of the Church, the magisterium is very clear and there is no contradiction at all,” he said.

“The blessing is like when a person is going on a journey, when they have come on a pilgrimage, they want a blessing asking God to be with them,” he said. “Everybody has a right to God’s love and God’s compassion, calling the teaching on blessings in the document a “natural consequence” of this principle.’

Explaining his position to Crux, Cardinal Gracias said: “I once met the Prime Minister, and he asked for prayers. I assured him of our prayers and our blessings.

“Our Indian mentality is so inclusive, understanding people of other religions and other faiths. All are searching for God, all are searching for the truth, all are searching for spirituality.”

Cardinal Gracias also said that Fiducia Supplicans is consistent with his own pastoral practice with the LGBTQ+ community.

“In the past I have said this and I want to say it again, they are part of our family, they need our pastoral care. I have met them when they have come to me sometimes privately in my office.”

As a concrete example, in October 2018 the late Indian fashion designer Wendell Rodricks met Gracias. Rodricks also headed a group called the “Global Network of Rainbow Catholics,” which worked on the pastoral care of LGBTQ+ Catholics. The purpose of the meeting was for Rodricks to ask Cardinal Gracias’s blessing on a plan to open a hotline for the LGBTQ+ community, in part to them being closer to the church.

In a social media post after the meeting, Rodricks described his deep emotion when Cardinal Gracias responded positively.

“I was moved to tears when Cardinal Gracias not only gave his total approval and support but also agreed to advise his clergy to be more compassionate and less condemning of the LGBTQ community,” he wrote.

“At the end of our meeting, His Eminence placed his hand on my head and blessed me in a special way: ‘Christ bless us for the work we are doing for society’. Suffice to say I felt blessed, grateful and immensely joyful. In smog-filled Bombay, my heart felt a rainbow in the sky,” Rodricks wrote.

Cardinal Gracias insisted that such blessings do not court doctrinal confusion.

“I think people have interpreted it as meaning a step forward towards giving a sacramental marriage,” he said. “Absolutely not. I can say that categorically, at 100 per cent.”

Cardinal Gracias said he’ll use his own social media channels to try to dispel any confusion.

“One of the interactive question and answer sessions I will have on the Archdiocese of Bombay YouTube channel, which has 122,000 subscribers, this is the first thing I will take up. I will take the question and explain in detail that it has been instrumentalised, misunderstood and misinterpreted much more than is normal,” he said.

Well I would agree we have to show the highest respect for any Pontiff, that goes without saying. But I think that Frankie is not Pope, ergo no respect whatsoever is coming to him from me.:D:D

    As to this thing,

'We can't just say Pope Francis isn't the pope,'

Well I respond, well, errr, why not?

According to a post on Substack, “On Sunday, December 17, 2023, lightning literally pulverized the key and halo of the statue of Saint Peter, located on the facade of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary of San Nicolas, north of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The news was reported by the Telegram channel ‘The Pope’s Pearls’: it seemed to be fake, given that no news could be found on the web, but the event has just been confirmed by the Reverend Father Justo Lofeudo, a priest who supports the current Pontiff. The priests of the Sanctuary have issued a statement that rejects the symbolic interpretation of the fact, but not the fact itself: ‘The Sanctuary does not agree with the interpretation that has been given with respect for the damage produced in the image of the apostle Saint Peter.’ What is striking, in fact, is that the event occurred on [the Pope’s] birthday, the day before the publication of the Fiducia supplicans declaration which opens up blessings for gay couples.”

We have not been able to confirm this, and so are treating it with due caution.

It is thus far mainly the stuff of Facebook and blogs. Let this be emphasized: we have not directly confirmed it.

We have confirmed that the statue existed at the church before the reported strike:

Agree. A Pope who contradicts, confuses, and bows to heresy automatically becomes an antipope.

  10. Another thing about this event is that early on in the apparitions to Gladys, the Virgin Mary asked Gladys to search for a statue of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus with a rosary, a statue that had been brought from Rome and had been blessed by Pope Leo XIII. Being guided by the Virgin Mary, Gladys found the statue on Nov. 27, 1983. It was in the belfry of the diocesan cathedral. ++++Fast forward to December 17, 2023 when a statue of Saint Peter the Pope is struck by lightning and the symbols of the papacy are removed seems highly significant to the history of this approved apparition in Argentina. Finally it is noted that the messages coming from San Nicolas were approved and disseminated freely until 2017, when a new Bishop in union with the Vatican announced that the messages could no longer be published. The decision, endorsed by the Vatican, aimed to divert attention from private revelations and to focus attention on Jesus

Well I don't suppose it would do any harm for folks to continue to believe Papa Frankie is Pope if they really, really feel the need to.

The only thing is it might cause considerable confusion, the way it might if we thought a square was a circle or black was white. It isn't logical.

But whatever, I suppose continuing to believe such a thing might be a good comfort blanket, so, fair enough.

I was looking at the Church were lightening hit the statue of St Peter in Argentina.:

  12. Also, by allowing each bishop to interpret F.S. in their own way, takes away from one, holy, catholic and apostolic Faith....which is a crying shame.

There’s something for all of us to learn in the case of good Father Mark.

As Our Lord predicted these are very very dangerous times unlike any other. Times when even the elect might easily be deceived and fall if they don’t stay very close to God and fail to hear His voice..

With thousands of voices now raised against this document and what’s going on in the Vatican it’s painfully clear Father Mark failed to call a spade a spade.

He placed himself in the camp of the lukewarm, the camp of the wolves, the camp of those who want to foster confusion, obfuscation and deception.

He resorted to sophistry and deceptive reasoning when we need clear, simple words.

Hes obviously a good man, full of passion and love for the Lord.

And yet he failed his flock. He failed to be the watchman on the wall. He failed to see the truth through the smoke of evil and deception coming from Rome.

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’

Pope Francis has a disconnect when it comes to "war". He does not seem to get that the wars being waged now, in the world and in the Church herself, have their root in the "big war" that won't end until The End; the Spiritual War that's raging and growing worse now by the day. As the Spiritual War increases in intensity, the wars in the world also grow. The last 12 months is proof of that, imho.

Pope Benedict, God rest his soul, understood this very well. With the release of Summorum Pontificum, came a great out pouring of grace as people answered the call to "come and see". Many people who were blessed to have been allowed access to the TLM ran like a thirsty man to an oasis and discovered something they never knew was possible in the worship of God. The places where this moto proprio was crushed out of the gate were done a great disservice by those individual Bishops who invoked whatever section in canon law allowed them to say "Not in my See". But Benedict respected what the law allowed and did not intervene. Pope Francis is now acting like every one of those Bishops who used the law like a sledgehammer, but at the same time calls for dialogue. It's total contradiction.

Personally, I would rather not "dialogue" with confusion and contradiction. Am I being too rigid?

He doesn't connect the raging Spiritual War with what's happening in the world. And the Spiritual War is a battle we can never stop fighting because that "enemy" never sleeps. It's the most JUST WAR there is; It's both personal to each and every one of us, as well as communal. As he tears up Benedict's legacy, he's giving the real "enemy" of humanity the upper hand. But, as said above, we cannot give up.

He seems to want everyone to be a "Martha" because there's no point being a "Mary" just sitting around. I seem to remember it was said Mary chose the better part, but whatever.......not everyone is called to be a Martha and being told it's ok or even forced to be something you are not is a BIG problem, especially in the Spiritual realm.

He's actually stoking the fires of war, whether he realizes it or not.

It's mind boggling really. He does not appear the slightest bit able to connect those huge dots.

To all the poor and marginalized out there, especially those who are now running for their "blessings", how do you reconcile your trust in all this when a "brother" has now had his income and domicile taken away, and the document signed off and released one day now apparently "doesn't say what everyone was lead to believe it says"?

It's all a mishmash of confusing rigidity......nothing good can come from it.

One thing I feel at the minute in a huge feeling of oppression as though the ground had opened under my feet. I did not mind so much the abomination of blessing Sodomite liasons although that was bad enough. But what really hit me was the reaction of the clergy, especially the Bishops. Many spoke out especially in Africa, but here is the West and In Ireland they just stayed silent or spoke out in support. I had no idea whatsoever that the Church was in such a terrible condition. It is as if the roof had fallen in.

I suppose it shouldn't sadden me so much , but I love the Church very much and it is as if the roof had suddenly fallen in. Saddest of all I have great feeling of dread that far,far worse is to come...

    How long Oh Lord?

It's been a horrendous couple of decades as society plunges into complete darkness and the church becomes increasingly anemic and even irrelevant.
