New Dubia? Walter Cardinal Brandmüller, Raymond Cardinal Burke, Juan Cardinal Sandoval Íñiguez, Robert Cardinal Sarah and Joseph Cardinal Zen Ze-Kiun. https://www.tfp.org/on-the-eve-of-t...et-of-dubia-to-pope-francis-we-are-concerned/
I just bought an autobiography of Doris Day from her diaries?Have you read it? What a totally amazing woman/ saint.
I have been seriously thinking about the Carmelite Lars Anders Arborelius (who would be the standard of our lady of Mount Carmel coming before the warning) or Peter Turkson who is "the knife in the apple" that transcends the label of progressive or conservative.
Just read an email from Cardinal Burke that the four Cardinals that submitted a dubia in July regarding concerns on Synod topics, have never been answered. He was just letting the faithful know. Our Church is praying on Wednesday as they start this synod.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We, members of the Sacred College of Cardinals, in accord with the duty of all the faithful “to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church” (can. 212 § 3) and, above all, in accord with the responsibility of Cardinals “to assist the Roman Pontiff … individually … especially in the daily care of the universal Church” (can. 349), in view of various declarations of highly-placed Prelates, pertaining to the celebration of the next Synod of Bishops, that are openly contrary to the constant doctrine and discipline of the Church, and that have generated and continue to generate great confusion and the falling into error among the faithful and other persons of good will, have manifested our deepest concern to the Roman Pontiff. By our letter of July 10, 2023, employing the proven practice of the submission of dubia [questions] to a superior to provide the superior the occasion to make clear, by his responsa [responses], the doctrine and discipline of the Church, we have submitted five dubia to Pope Francis [select the link below to read them]. By his letter of July 11, 2023, Pope Francis responded to our letter. Having studied his letter which did not follow the practice of responsa ad dubia [responses to questions], we reformulated the dubia to elicit a clear response based on the perennial doctrine and discipline of the Church. By our letter of August 21, 2023, we submitted the reformulated dubia [select the link below to read them] to the Roman Pontiff. Up to the present, we have not received a response to the reformulated dubia. Given the gravity of the matter of the dubia, especially in view of the imminent session of the Synod of Bishops, we judge it our duty to inform you, the faithful (can. 212 § 3), so that you may not be subject to confusion, error, and discouragement but rather may pray for the universal Church and, in particular, the Roman Pontiff, that the Gospel may be taught ever more clearly and followed ever more faithfully. Yours in Christ, Walter Cardinal Brandmüller Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke Juan Cardinal Sandoval Íñiguez Robert Cardinal Sarah Joseph Cardinal Zen Ze-kiun
Y Yes, it is quite wonderful, although prepare for a few shocks, he doesn't pull any punches at all There a great interview with him and Fr Groesgel, EWTN on utube
Yes bless them all everyone Vut why, oh why so few? Now of all times when they are most needed? All that is required fir while to triumph is for Good Cardinals to remain silent
I think that there was only one martyred bishop , St. John Fisher of Rochester, named as a Cardinal before his death.
The Times (UK) on Saturday carried an article by an English Catholic bishop about the Synod. There were no references to Jesus, repentance, conversion, heaven or hell but a lot about accompanying especially those on 'the margins' (didn't the religious orders of charity and preaching provide that during many centuries for those marginalised by misfortune, illness or need of conversion?). There were also references to 'finding a new way to be church' which phrase is so vague as to be terrifying in its possible implications. The bishop warned that those involved should not arrive with any firm views, apparently the Holy Spirit is going to be the author of any output and He needs open minds with which to cooperate. Apparently the Vatican has been concerned at the widespread lack of interest in the preparation for this synod displayed by the vast majority of lay Catholics. This fact is, I suppose, spoiling the hopes that were cherished that any heterodox and heretical output could be claimed to be considered only by reason of the insistent and loud demands for radical changes by the great majority of the laity. In fact most, it seems, could hardly care less except, ironically, for us traditionalists whose positions are regarded as obstacles to the envisaged 'progress' and 'developments in doctrine' and will be totally ignored. It will be a farce, they might as well all stay at home and allow me to write the final documents which I am confident will include everything that we fear it will.
I think the saddest thing if all was that he was betrayed by a fellow Capuchin, one who was very close to him. Padre Pios heart must have been broken But the wonderful thing though wad that ordinary lay Cathokics clung to him like cglue through thick and thin. It was the clergy who put the boot in. This tells us a lot about the Sensum Fidelium of Catholics. They gave an inhere t sense of right and wrong and can also sense the Holy Very touching But Oadre Pio went through total, total hell and for most of his life too Astonishing, really
Yes I was thinking of Cardinal Pell this morning. He is now fighting for us from the other side. Thank God we still have Cardinal Burke
