"Decide for yourselves whether to bless
    homosexual unions"

Words that are a knife in the hearts of the Faithful. Like Ceasar, PF has washed his hands of it. We have been
betrayed. I am afraid to think about the
repercussions of these "decisions" that will ultimately
trickle down to all of our parishes. :(

I can already see the difference. In my parish, the new Monsignor, who began as an orthodox, and even brought the Latin Mass, is not the same priest. We no longer have the Latin Mass. Sadly, his homilies have changed.

Not in the sense of the sedevancantists who believe the Seat has been empty since 1958. They’re a whole different breed, very difficult to deal with.

It’s no different than any interregnum, or period between the death of one pope and the election of his valid successor. That period can technically also be called sedevacante, because the Seat or Chair of Peter is indeed vacant.

Pope BXVI only died nine months ago. If Pope Francis is and has always been an antipope, then the Chair has only been vacant for nine months. Historically I think the Church has gone much longer periods without a pope.

If Pope Francis has lost his papacy due to persistent manifest grave heresy, the Chair is vacant from the point the Church determines he is a heretic.

Myself? I’m not at all worried about what term to use. I’m just a faithful Catholic.

So stick with your parish. And if they change the word of consecration??

This is a very interesting post, I think. Thank you Brian. You may be right.
Or, alternatively, it is interesting that Pope Benedict died on 31 December 2022. If there is a state of sede vacante for other reasons (I cannot judge this), it could have started on 1 January 2023. This is a Marian feast and also the beginning of a new calendar year in which the world seems to be rapidly falling into a chastisement. For example, the war against Russia seems to be heating up, and NATO appears to be getting more and more involved. Also, there was an Aurora Borealis recently, which reminded me of the blood-red sky on 25/26 January 1938, the signal of the beginning of World War II as prophesied by Our Lady of Fatima. According to Father Malachi Martin (who died in the 1990's, when Ukraine and Russia were still on very friendly terms), the Third Secret of Fatima has to do with "Kiev and Moscow".

That a seating pope is saying homosexual unions can be blessed in some instances or under certain conditions is something I thought I will never see in my life, and that will never happen in the history of the Church.

It is a bombshell of the highest caliber - an atomic bomb just at the start of the synod.

We knew very well that Amoris Laetitita a few years back was just the beginning.

I don’t know what to make of all of this. We are in uncharted territory, but I am sure God has a plan and will not abandon us.

He is being abandoned by all of us though, particularly by the prelates that could speak and in their cowardice remain silent.

When Christ was taken by the Jews and Roman soldiers, I could see some of the apostles not only scared and in hiding, but also interiorly angry at Him. Those 3 days must have been of total confusion, similar to what we are experiencing now.

They abandoned Jesus, but they probably also felt abandoned as we do now.

I think it’s time to let God be God, bring our complaints to Him, trust in Him, and hope and pray for his prompt intervention.

Are you (not you in particular Jarg, this is just a general / rhetorical question) really that dismayed right now? Or taken by surprise?

Did you really not see this coming? At least for a couple years?

    How could we not?

The signs he was a “bad pope” were apparent for anyone with eyes to see within the first year of this “pontificate.”

The signs he might literally be an antipope have been apparent for at least half that time.

In our guts, we suspected this was coming.

How can we react as if we were blindsided by all this just now, today, the beginning of October 2023?!?

    Myself?

I’ve been warning people for almost ten years this was coming. I guess I was written off as some kind of kook or crank.

But it’s always seemed perfectly obvious to me, so when I see him doing what he’s just done this week, I’m not surprised or dismayed, I’m just wondering what took him so long.

God will take care of this. Soon.

But it’s not gonna be pretty.

The next change in teachings will be the liturgy.

  11. Why are there quotes around these words?
That would indicate a direct quote of the Pope.
NO WHERE DO I READ THESE WORDS AS A DIRECT QUOTE.

    Please correct me.
Is this inferred, or a direct quote of the Pope?

Thank you Brian, I personally think that your insights have been most valuable, alongside those of many others here. It seems we have entered the point of no return now. We need to hold tight to our Rosary chains and put on the helmet of salvation and the other pieces of the armor of God.

    Some typical headlines today:

I’m sure if this wasn’t the pope’s intent with his words today, he or the Vatican will clarify that the global media simply misunderstood his dubia response.

If they don’t, then that was probably his intent in the first place, regardless of a “direct quote.”

This was his actual response to the dubia questions:

    https://www.lifesitenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Vatican-reply-en.pdf

Nailing down what he’s saying here is like trying to nail jello to a wall. Of set purpose.

  15. Well I will not judge if it was purposeful or not. It is obscure. I read the translation here:
    https://wherepeteris.com/unofficial-translation-of-popes-response-to-dubia-2-0/
We must be very careful at this point that we do not post anything that is not completely factual.
We are facing a very serious situation.
The evil one will sew falsehoods on both sides.

We must have humility. We must pray. This is Christ's Church. As I am sure you are aware... Clarity and not sensationalism is needed

I’m not judging. What Francis is doing is not in the least obscure. He knows exactly what he is doing and how the media will run with what he just said. Please don’t be naive. We are called to be innocent as doves but also wise as serpents.
