He still looks calm, level headed and no signs of anger against his persecutors in the interview which is a very good thing, that tells you he is still in control of his emotions, unlike to what happened to Fr. Altman...

I was reading about a possible answer to this problem. The person (in the US) said that he gave money to his parish on condition that the payment went for a particular local purpose such as a fund for maintenance of the church building, Masses for the Holy Souls (which are paid to the officiating priest), a personal gift to one or more priests in the parish, etc. in this way the donations can be kept purely local and are not subject to deductions for the diocese or by the Vatican.

We can do that at our parish, too. And Christmas and Easter collections all stay within the parish.

I think if I was in a Parish were I had concerns about what my money was to be used for I would not be in that Parish in the first place (Peter's Pence apart).

I think the words of Jesus ring so true here,

    Matthew 22:15–22

15Then the Pharisees went and plotted to entrap him in what he said. 16So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and teach the way of God in accordance with truth, and show deference to no one; for you do not regard people with partiality. 17Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to the emperor, or not?” 18But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites? 19Show me the coin used for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. 20Then he said to them, “Whose head is this, and whose title?” 21They answered, “The emperor’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” 22When they heard this, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.

Jesus is kind of handing it over to us here to act in accord with our hearts and conscience in any particular situation.

We sometimes have a duty to give, but sometimes we also have a duty not to give.

A good example might be , if we were in Germany and knew our Pastor had been a Nazi and was giving some our funds to his Party which we knew was evil we would have a clear duty not to give.

..and time to vote with our feet by leaving the Parish too, perhaps. That's what the good God gave us feet for.

Padraig, here in the US, a portion of the weekly collection is “taxed” by the Diocese. Then it ends up in the Diocesan coffers.
That is the concern. It’s unavoidable unless we stipulate where our donation will
    be used in the parish.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Difficult times, but the Church has gone through far greater crises, heresies, and it is a path of suffering so that salvation can come.

Whoever wants to follow Christ must take up his cross and follow him.

By this action , this pope reminds the rest of bishops, priests and Cardinal to comply as simple as that. If.you are not , you are out. Please offer mass, pray, fast and whatever each of us can do to support Bishop Strickland.

 God have mercy on our poor, suffering Church. The people in Bishop Strickland 's diocese must be devastated. Prayers for the good Bishop to persevere through this persecution. :(

Goodness, he never stops does he? Not for a second. If for nothing else I admire him for his energy, a man of his age.

I do my best not to think about him but he is like some kind of Cancer, hard to ignore.

    Prayers for the poor Bishops.

I hope Papa Frankie gives it a rest for a while now. But I am not holding my breath.
