It is sad. I have many fond memories of NYC. My mother loved the Broadway shows, so we enjoyed many vacations in the city. We would even write for free tickets to our favorite TV game and talk shows. I used to think it was so exciting to take the subway to Coney Island... fun times. I have no desire to return even though my son lives there. NY has a hold on him. That Girl was also a favorite of mine, although I always wondered how a starving NY actress could afford such great clothes.
It’s how I see the AC too. A man who’s focused to go against the Catholic Church and it’s magisterium.
This interview is at once illuminating, horrifying and, ultimately, heartening. Profoundly Catholic, charitable and clear sighted. He has republished an old book (extremely prescient) in which a Msgr Dillon examined the roots of Modernism, decried by many Popes in the past. Many references to the Gospel, Church Fathers, etc. He is devoted to Our Lady of Fatima and says a Rosary daily. Highly recommend. Thanks, Mario!
I live in NY ( not city..suburbs) and I can tell you there are many good and solid Catholic Christian’s here. Despite everything we are faced with here , we are doing our best to live and walk our faith. It does bother when I see almost nonchalantly comments that seem to disregard this. Or when I read “when NY is wiped off the map”. We in many ways are in the belly of the beast. Perhaps we’ve been “assigned” the job of witnessing?
I said that new york will be wiped off the map because I believe that the sins of a nation fall under its great metropolises; how Paris, according to Saint John Bosco, will be destroyed by fire; it doesn't mean that I want it or that I am indifferent to this issue; just like when someone posts about the deadly effects of vaccines it doesn't mean they are indifferent to people's health or their peace of mind for saying so.
I wonder regarding Israel: if the legal\political capital becomes Jerusalem and not tel-aviv; will jerusalem get destroyed, then?
Where sin abounds there does grace much more abound. The devout Catholics are the 10 good men Abraham looked for. We should be grateful for your presence. I don't blame you for being disturbed by such comments.
I wonder about this too, Miker. I'm moving to the country but right now I'm still in the heart of a giant metroplex full of all kinds of corruption, even though there are lots of good Catholics here too. Unfortunately, when Our Lady in Akita said fire would fall from Heaven, she said it would spare "neither the good nor the bad."
no doubt. I think point is no matter where you are…. Be ready. Repent. Luke 13:1-5 It was just about this time that some people arrived and told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with that of their sacrifices. At this he said to them, 13:2 'Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than any others, that this should have happened to them? 13:3 They were not, I tell you. No; but unless you repent you will all perish as they did. 13:4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower at Siloam fell, killing them all? Do you suppose that they were more guilty than all the other people living in Jerusalem? 13:5 They were not, I tell you. No; but unless you repent you will all perish as they did.' MT 5:44-45 But I say this to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; 5:45 so that you may be children of your Father in heaven, for he causes his sun to rise on the bad as well as the good, and sends down rain to fall on the upright and the wicked alike.
BTW I thought the capital city of the USA was washington DC? but its actually new york city? im confused!
It’s DC. But New York City is a huge center of commerce and banking and also the location of the United Nations.
. Me and my family live in NY (Long Island). I worry about NY being a target and pray that if it is, God will take us swiftly. Need to stay in a state of Grace.
That Girl was my fav also! But you think about it though, it was the 1960s that these tv shows started to change the culture by pushing back on “old fashion” tradition.
