Just reading this after attending a brunch where very "woke" friends recounted sudden deaths of several young people they know. One of them said "what on earth is going on?" Because I am a coward I said nothing. I could have said "let me explain it to you" but I would have suffered a barrage of denial and brought an atmosphere of contention to an otherwise nice gathering. Sigh. I just don't think it does any good to challenge their "orthodoxy" anymore. But I still feel like a coward.
I don't blame you for keeping silent. I just pray that the Lord opens their eyes. I have done something similar. You considered the timing and the place. I think that was important in your decision. Maybe there will come a time soon when it is a different scenario.
I have as well, it isn't fear based. Unfortunately when there is a group of "woke" people together , in unison they don't hear anything that is different from their belief. I find the best way is to pray for them and approach each one individually. May by God's grace they hear you then.
I've actually reached the point where I have just decided to pull away from certain social engagements. I barely made it through a reception this weekend where I was apparently seated at the woke table. I agree with you, praying for them is best when you are in a difficult situation.
Well, I’m headed to a shower this Saturday, where the majority are all liberal. And it’s difficult for me to stay quiet. Pray that I can get through it by staying silent.
