This sickens me. To propose it and then demand it and get away with it.

This leaves the Catholic Bishops in the North in a terrible dilemma. Are they really going to permit Abortion access to be taught in Catholic Schools...and what happens if they refuse?

I would love to confidently state that the Bishops may grow a pair and say a firm, 'No'. But after their group cowardice during the look downs I would not bet good money on it.

The thing is though , if they permit Abortion access to be taught in Catholic schools they will look like clowns. So pride will be waging a battle against cowardice.

I don't have a lot of confidence in any of them anyway. If any of them had any back bone they would would have raised a ruckus about it years ago. Like a bunch of treed cats.

Still I dare say they're sweating blood about this wondering furiously what to do, seeking some way to slip out from under..

Now we will see what the Catholic bishops of the north are made of. I suspect a meek response and a mere whimper.

The Catholic schools of the north were built by contributions of parishioners in the parishes and dioceses through blood, sweat and tears without much help from the Protestant, unionist state.

Thank God I retire from teaching on 30 June I have only a few weeks to go it would haunt me to think I worked in any school that promotes this evil.

Yes but I was thinking of the Catholic teachers and parents too. Would they put up with this? All of them?
Even the young students. Would they surrender to this..and from an English Government Minister in Ireland, imposing this on Irish Catholics?

..and what about the priests and the teaching nuns?

It is a real den of worms. I think they may have gone far, far, far too far in this. I think it will be withdrawn. The English Government would be insane not too. This is a fighting issue. People in Ireland will get furiously angry.

Why would they risk getting folks back up like this?

Parents still have a right to take their children out of these lessons.

Some Catholic teachers will refuse to cooperate.

Yes and they would be relying on a Protestant Police Force, often very Conservative themselves, to enforce it. As to
Protestant Politicians, many of them would choke at the very thought of it.

    No.

This bird ain't gonna fly. It's one of the few things Catholics and Protestants in the North would unite on, they all hate abortion like poison, English Minister or not.

They might be just testing the waters to see what they can get away with.

In practice it will mean pupils have to be taught about issues like how to prevent a pregnancy, the legal right to an abortion in Northern Ireland, and how relevant services may be accessed.

They probably asked the ladies from Sinn Fein and the Alliance Party and thought from their enthusiastic agreement, go along, get along, that it was a done deal.

They're all in for a big surprise then, they have, all of them, massively over reached.

I must have been meant to read this thread. My missus just after saying to me that our 7 year old is to take these classes. And we have the option of withdrawing her.
    We're opting her out.

You'll be far from the only one...and what teacher would dare teach it? Telling kids were to go if they want to murder their unborn child and how to go about doing it?

..and in a so called Catholic School..I mean really?

It might soon come to a time when Catholics in Ireland north and south will have to home school.

The current 'conservative' (irony) British government in the past few years have imposed abortion on the north of Ireland, imposed exclusion zones near murder mills (where even silent prayer is banned) and now are enforcing their death propaganda in our schools.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-65497779.amp

The Brits like nothing better than killing Irish babies, they have a history of genocide on this island.

Sinn Fein and the SDLP have capitulated to this culture of death, the Irish bishops are useless and as a result the Brits are getting free reign to spill Irish blood once again through the hands of traitors and collaborators.

Sinn Fein (who received the LARGEST vote in recent local elections and whose vote is almost totally 'catholic') have not merely capitulated to the British government, they have enthusiastically welcomed the British Government's decision to extend abortion 'rights' to Northern Ireland. See below from the party's own website:

Sinn Féin has welcomed a demand by the British government for progress on the introduction of abortion services in Northern Ireland, as the party denounced Democratic Unionist opposition to the provisions as “shameful and disgraceful”.

Northern Ireland’s deputy first minister, Michelle O’Neill, accused the DUP and the Ulster Unionist party of trying to reverse legislation imposed by Westminster in 2019, which provided for terminations in cases of fatal foetal abnormalities.

“This is madness that needs to stop. Women are entitled to this. It needs to be delivered,” said the Sinn Féin leader at Stormont.

This is the party of choice for a substantial majority of NI 'catholics'. Shame on them and judging by the way they vote, only a minority of them have any problem at all with abortion. Long live the DUP and the UU parties (never thought I would ever say that).

We and our kids are having serious discussion on home schooling grandkids here in NY state. At this point in US, I don’t believe the government could mandate this type of instruction in private schools. But, that may change.
