Apparently Ukraine has a dark side--bio labs, human trafficking and money laundering. The people themselves are in the grip of evil leaders. Maybe its Russian propaganda but Putin's intent was to get rid of the bio labs and stop human trafficking. Only God knows the true causes of the conflict but if the evils mentioned above have been interrupted even stopped then good. Good for Ukraine. Good for the world.

Every country has a dark side. Nurturing fascism and glossing over it by rebranding it as brave national heroism is like putting lipstick on a pig. Putin's plan is to prevent the balkanisation of Russia and to protect his country from NATO. To him, that's an existential threat. That makes him neither good nor bad. What we must be careful of is the age-old tactic of whipping up hatred against people we don't know. Dismissing Russia and Russians as backward and barely civilised ignores their Christian history. Yes, the Orthodox are in schism but they have valid Holy Orders and Apostolic succession with a valid Eucharist which only the Orthodox and Catholics have. It's sad that the Orthodox are plagued by secular interference in their internal affairs. That's not peculiar to Russia and is probably a holdover from Byzantine times. Their split from the Pope probably gave them security at the time of the Schism but it's proving to be an ever increasing burden for then in these times. Let's not forget that the US media (probably urged on by their government) celebrated the group of women whose only claim to fame was baring their breasts in Orthodox churches. There's a video of one of them (Ukrainian) exposing herself to Patriarch Kirill. Is there any wonder he doesn't want Western depravity taking a hold in Russia, even if it takes a war to protect his country. That doesn't make the Patriarch right, but it goes some way towards explaining his position. It's not just America. I don't know anything about Alastair Crooke. He could be evil personified for all I know, but in this interview with Judge Napolitano he makes more sense than most: The world is changing. Even if NATO prevails this time, change is coming. Already we see comments from people in the developing world demonising Americans and Europeans. The day is coming when we could be at the receiving end of the "nothing good about Americans/Europeans" slurs). We're Catholics first and we must resist that kind of broadbrush denouncing of people. We aren't brainwashed into hating Germans because Marx and Hitler were German (some say that Hitler was really Austrian but we aren't conditioned to hate Austrians and rubbish their culture). We don't demonise all Georgians because Stalin was Georgian. But somehow it's ok to sneer at Russians supposedly for the sake of democracy in Ukraine. This evil practice needs to stop, and that can begin with us. If we don't put a stop to those tactics now, we'll have no grounds for complaint when we're on the receiving end.
I am not alone in seeing more and more similarities between Putin and Hitler. 1. Both were democratically elected but soon ensured that any opposition was threatened into submission/murdered/imprisoned. While Hitler dispensed with elections, the Putin appointed (and recently deceased) Election Commissioner openly declared that he was Putin’s man and would take orders from him. These apparently included accepting instructions on the majorities that were to be declared in each region. 2. Both stated that their people were being mistreated in neighbouring countries which was intolerable and that they sought only to protect them and bring the territories in which they were a majority, into the national fold – the Sudetenland and western Poland in Hitler’s case and Crimea and eastern Ukraine in Putin’s. 3. Both claimed provocation by the governments of the relevant countries. An attack on a German radio station in Poland’s case and the claimed presence of bio-labs (as well as other fabrications) in Putin’s. 4. The leaders of both countries sought to blur the distinction between themselves as individuals and the nation as a whole, thus being able to depict those who opposed their leadership as opposing the nation’s well-being. 5. Both created a common enemy who were depicted as seeking to do them harm and to steal their assets. In Hitler’s case the Jews and in Putin’s the ‘west’ in general. 6. Both depicted the democracies as depraved in contrast with their own country’s love of family and traditional values. While threatening/ murdering/torturing and imprisoning the political opposition in labour camps or driving them abroad. 7. Hitler’s minions took blond, blue eye-ed Polish infants from their parents to be adopted by German couples and raised as Germans. Putin’s minions took Ukrainian children from their parents to ‘Summer Camps’ in Russia and many have not been seen since. The Russian Families Minister proudly announced that she had ‘adopted’ one such child. Putin was a KGB agent. He was not conscripted into that murderous organization. He made several attempts to join. If he really had no idea what a murderous outfit he had joined, the opening of their archives after the Soviet Union fell, would have opened his eyes but he still proudly boasts of his membership and has stated that he regards the fall as the most tragic event in modern history. And he has, in power, surrounded himself with former agents. He did not rise far in the KGB hierarchy apparently because his reports (also viewable for a short time) stated that he was a man without empathy. His superiors sure got that right! I wonder where they are now?

It wasn’t the Cubans. There has always been an American military base in Cuba. It would not have been a difficult task to have ousted the Castro’s. Many feel, for whatever reason, our State Department and CIA were content with having Castro as Cuba’s communist leader. We're meant to be constitutionally 'neutral'. Given her intent to everywhere export and enforce abortion and sexual perversion, I find it difficult to see the United States as not being the greater of the two evils in our present clash of empires. Even China does not seem to be as spectacularly corrupt and that's saying something.
