The end of an era is about the present Church, and not about a Jewish temple. It’s about “Old Israel forming New Israel.” Modern apostate Church, which is what is forming today through the Synod, is another Jerusalem harlot. Our modern apostate Church is sitting on the beast. Why would any of the many Christian sects follow a Jewish Antichrist sitting in the New Israel’s seat, which is in Rome?

It is believed and most logical for the antichrist to be Jewish. The reasoning behind this is that the Jewish people would never claim as their messiah as someone who wasn't a Jew. It is the antichrist that they will claim to be the messiah.
Many commentators identify the "false peace" with the first, white horseman of Apocalypse 6. But I think St. Paul is more clear about it in 1 Thessalonians 5: 1 But of the times and moments, brethren, you need not, that we should write to you: 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord shall so come as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say: Peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief. 5 For all you are the children of light and children of the day: we are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do: but let us watch, and be sober. 7 For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breast plate of faith and charity and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us unto wrath: but unto the purchasing of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us: that, whether we watch or sleep, we may live together with him. 11 For which cause comfort one another and edify one another, as you also do. Note that St. Paul is contrasting the watchful Thessalonians with those who are not "watching." Those who are not "watching" will be deceived by the false "peace and security" and experience "sudden destruction" instead of true "peace and security." But the Thessalonians will not be deceived, again because they "watch and pray." The Thessalonians will not be overtaken unexpectedly by "a thief" (think of the description of Judas as "a thief" in the Gospel of John 12:6). They will recognize the Antichrist's deception with God's grace. The Thessalonians, as part of the faithful remnant, are "not appointed unto Wrath" (the punishment) but "unto the purchasing of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (the deliverance).
But it has nothing to do with a peace treaty. The deception of an apostate Church, that so many are following today, promises a false peace and security. Where in Scripture is an Antichrist going to stop a war, and come up with a peace treaty?
For instance the Climate Change issue that Pope Francis follows promises false peace and security. Just as the social justice agenda does. Maybe that’s what it means.
Hi Andy3. "Messiah" is the English transliteration of the Hebrew word for "anointed one," historically referring to a king who will save the just people and bring peace to the world. The Greek word with the same meaning is "Christos." So, "messiah" just means "savior." The CCC sections quoted above are using the phrase "secular messianism" in the sense of a "secular savior," a human savior of humanity in this world.
Not following your point here. My point is the antichrist rises in Israel and takes the throne/seat of the temple. Many don't see how this could occur from anyone other than Jewish background otherwise this "anointed one" would never be able to sit on the throne and be accepted by the Jewish people as their savior. They still await the "messiah".

Hi Byron. As in almost all prophecy, you must "read between the lines." The words "when they shall say: peace and security" implies that there will be a group that will promote the idea of "peace and security." This normally happens when a peace treaty is signed. But this "peace and security" will be false because "sudden destruction" will follow, not lasting "peace and security." In the Catechism passage quoted above, you can see that the Church has interpreted the Bible verses in the footnotes to predict a "secular messiah," who will claim "to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgement." That "messianic hope" is the hope for "peace and security." But the only one who will bring true peace is Our Lord Jesus Christ, when he returns. Until then, there will be no lasting peace. Anyone who claims otherwise is a "false Christ" or "false messiah" or "false prophet."
Yes, PNF of course, but the false peace and security can be interpreted, as a false Church, leading us into a false sense of peace and security. Which is exactly what our apostate Church is doing today by accepting gay marriage etc. It’s the compassionate thing to do, “who am I to judge.”
Hi Carol55. Any Catholic bishop/Pope has three personas: "priest/alter christus, prophet/teacher and king/leader." The antipope/antichrist will also have three personas: the dragon (after he has been possessed by Satan), the False Prophet (as the teacher of lies), and Beast/king as the leader of the counterfeit church. In all the other Bible verses referencing the Antichrist, the reference is to a single human being. In Daniel, he is called the "Little Horn." In 2 Thessalonians 2, he is called "the Man of Sin" and the "Son of Perdition." The Apocalypse 17 refers to him as "the Eighth."
I agree completely. The most important "false peace" will be that inside the Church. But I think that current world events point to a secular analogue (the end of military wars) that will justify the actions within the Church that will come a little later. The man who ends or prevents WWIII will be able to get away with whatever he wants in the Church. So I think the two things are intimately connected.
PNF, I see the Dragon leading in a sneaky way. He is subtle, clever and conniving. Mystery of iniquity may not be this Messianic bombastic leader who takes over and proclaims himself God loudly to the entire world. I see him doing the work of the Dragon (Satan) more quietly.
I just don’t know where there’s a WWIII in Revelations. I think the war is inside the Church. And that war nobody will be able to stop except Jesus and the Blessed Mother.
Hi Byron. Sneaky is right. Sneaky implies "deception" and "falsehood." This is what Jesus warns us to "watch" for and "pray" about so we can discern "the signs of the times." Most people (Catholics) will be deceived because they are not "watching" and "praying." As the Catechism says it is a "religious deception," in other words, a person who can deceive Catholics. And his deception is his offer of a solution to "problems at the price of apostasy from the truth." So, yes, it is all about sneakiness and subtlety and conniving and manipulation. It is precisely not "bombastic" and obvious and "in your face" for most people who are not "watching and praying."
Byron, I suppose that is why what Saint Hildegard (doctor of the church) says about the end times makes so much sense and imho fits with Garabandal and Fatima. She states that there will be a large conversion of the Jewish people into the Catholic Church and then a period of peace and a sort of Springtime for the Faith until the great apostasy, the time of the final AC. This fits with what Frances Hogan is saying also except that we have a way to go yet. It also fits with what scripture says, it’s just a little different than what many think of.
