There are words of Jesus regarding Judas which often give me thought. That is when he described him as, 'Son of Perdition'. This appears to me that Jesus was saying that Judas was Predestinate for Hell. That he was born with the mark of hell on him. Predestinate is not the same Predestined. Predestination of course being a heresy. But if Judas had the mark of hell there are probably others born from their earliest days evil. I think you see this is the symptoms of Sociopaths who often seem to behave similarly from early childhood. For instance a fascination with fire, a tendency to torture animals, a lack of empathy and so so. Sons of Perdition.
A Pope proven to have intentionally and unambiguously contradicted the words of Our Lord Jesus Christ, would not be a Pope, but a "Pope". I'm hoping that PNF's inverted commas are inserted conditional to such an outcome.
Is this not a form of determinism and a denial of free will? If one is created a monster, one cannot be held responsible. Judas must have made his choices. Indeed, some of them are described to us. The same surely applies to others. If one is created with a faulty brain that lends one more readily to violence, surely God's Judgement will take this into account. Of course, only He can distinguish the true level of guilt and such monsters should not be given any quarter on this side of the grave, because that would be to play God.
No they do use the word, 'Predestinate', in Catholic Theology and in Catholic Mystical Theology. This is not Deterministic. For instance the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception implies Predestinate Grace. I think this Predestinate Grace is referred to in the Cathechism of the Catholic Church: PART THREE LIFE IN CHRIST SECTION ONE MAN'S VOCATION LIFE IN THE SPIRIT CHAPTER THREE GOD'S SALVATION: LAW AND GRACE 2001 The preparation of man for the reception of grace is already a work of grace. This latter is needed to arouse and sustain our collaboration in justification through faith, and in sanctification through charity. God brings to completion in us what he has begun, "since he who completes his work by cooperating with our will began by working so that we might will it:"50 Indeed we also work, but we are only collaborating with God who works, for his mercy has gone before us. It has gone before us so that we may be healed, and follows us so that once healed, we may be given life; it goes before us so that we may be called, and follows us so that we may be glorified; it goes before us so that we may live devoutly, and follows us so that we may always live with God: for without him we can do nothing.51
Ahh I found someone who describes this far better than I ever could: https://www.womenofgrace.com:8443/blog/?p=17241 The Predestinate Posted on November 3, 2012 by Women of Grace Staff “If Jesus Christ, the Head of men, is born in [Mary], then the predestinate, who are the members of that Head, ought also to be born in her by a necessary consequence. One and the same mother does not bring forth into the world the head without the members… So in like manner in the order of grace, the head and the members are born of one and the same mother.” St. Louis Grignion de Montfort True Devotion, 32 For Reflection: St. Louis de Montfort uses the term “predestinate” and Paragraph 62 from Lumen Gentium makes reference to “the elect.” Read Paragraphs #600, #2782, #2823 in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. How have you been predestined by God in Jesus Christ? In light of this, explain in your own words how it is that Mary is our spiritual mother according to St. Louis de Montfort. Ponder all of this. To what extent does this enlarge your understanding of yourself? Of Mary? Of God’s love for you?
Sorry, may I call "Jorge Mario Bergoglio" by his official title in the 2020 Annuario Pontificio, which is..."Jorge Mario Bergoglio?" I ask this because I don't want to put my own personal opinion above the official position of the Roman Catholic Church. I just feel it is the safest bet when one is trying to be a true "Son of the Church" to follow the Annuario Pontificio. See this article in LifeSiteNews that explains the change that occurred in 2020: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/pope-francis-drops-vicar-of-christ-title-in-vatican-yearbook/ Since the informal title of "Pope" (meaning "Father") is typically reserved for the "Vicar of Christ" in Roman Catholicism, and "Jorge Mario Bergoglio" has officially renounced the title "Vicar of Christ," in the 2020 Vatican Yearbook, I think we should be obedient to his wishes and not call him a name that he has said is a "historical title." What does everyone else think? EDIT: Here's more information on the official title changes that "Jorge Mario Bergoglio" has been making since 2013. Seems he doesn't like "titles" at all: https://www.ncronline.org/blogs/fra...francis-officially-de-emphasizes-papal-titles
Ephesians 1:4-5 Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, Romans 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. I think maybe when we talk of the, 'Mark of the Beast' , we are talking of a Judas kind of thing.
I suppose the Mystery, immeasurably greater than my capacity to get my head around It, is that our omniscient God's prior knowledge of our final destiny doesn't exclude our free will.
Yes. I think Liberal/Progressives are inclined to think people are all naturally good. But this goes against the Doctrine of Original Sin. Also may of these people do not believe in sin , only wrong choices. But in fact some folk are born hit the road evil from their earliest days on Earth, just as some folk are born hit the road holy. We see this in the case of John the Baptist who honoured Christ in the Womb from his own Mothers Womb.
I have a personal understanding of the case of the Egyptian pharaoh, often used to talk about predestination (to execute evil), it seems to me that even though he freed the Hebrew people more than once because of God's punishments and wonders, he never renounced idolatry and the false Egyptian religion, so contempt for the true faith (even having full knowledge of God and his power) would be the root of all the evils and behaviors that led to his personal disgrace and that of his court. in the case of Judas he saw the power of God manifest in Christ and the apostles but probably wanted to use it for his own benefit like Simon the Magus.
Pope Francis jokes that either he or John XXIV will attend World Youth Day next year https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/...hn-xxiv-will-attend-world-youth-day-next-year
What about contradicting the Council of Trent? Heck, he called proselytism solemn nonsense, which is what Jesus commanded his apostles to do, instead of feeding the poor, caring for the environment and having fraternity with all false religions.
You have me racking my brains. Firstly what is a , 'Dogma'. ? I think it is a Kind of Doctrinal Foundation Stone on which the Church rests. https://www.newadvent.org/cathen/05089a.htm Apparently there are 255 Infallibly Declared Dogmas of the Faith? http://www.traditionalcatholicpriest.com/2015/09/19/a-list-of-the-dogmas-of-the-catholic-church/
