Thats what worries me. Getting bronchitis. Hoping for the best. Are they better now? I hope so. Good for you for escaping it. BTW my niece who lives in Cohasset had a ton of damage ftom that storm too. Their gas grill blew off their deck and smashed. That's a heavy thing to blow away. Wind force must have been horrible.

Thanks Jo. I take all the supplements but I have gone to 25 mg of zinc with quercetin. I will add 500 mg of C too.Yes I've been making green tea with raw honey. Hoping and praying I have a light case. My son was really sick with it.

They are much better now. Grandson had a lingering cough, but he does have asthma. The storm really ravaged the whole area, we will be cleaning up for many days. The damage from this storm is much worse for us than Hurricane Bob back in the 90's. Yes, that must have been some intense gust of wind to toss a heavy grill like that. There were objects from people's yards all over the roads. All schools are closed, gas lines are super long, and some stations are running out. There are thousands with no power, crews here from Canada, NH and NY. Still no power at my daughter's house, they've lost a whole freezer filled with food. I am totally amazed that we were able to hang onto our power, and cable/internet, I can only attribute this blessing to prayer.

I'm so sorry to hear of the power loss and the freezer situation. Horrible. You were truly blessed to hang on to power. My niece and her family have moved in with my other niece in Conn. Because they have wifi and both my niece and her husband work remotely. That was really a terrible storm!

Wonderful young people. Extraordinary. To be honest I don't know if I'd go so far. I'd have to pray long and hard to Our Lady to ask her what to do. So strange the pandemic is coming to and end, this will be clear shortly so I hope they don't have to suffer too much.

This is a Trial Run for the Great Persecution. No doubt about it.

There was a lady in work the other day who put a smile on my face. She has taken all the jabs and boosters but says she fully supports me in not taking them. This is because her 90 year old mother has dug her heels in and won't take them at all.

She says we have the right to refuse that it's our body and our choice. This surprised me.

    You never know.

I think if they tried to force me they'd have a job catching me.

But prison is a really, really great place to pray, better than any monastery. Especially in Solitary confinement when they beat you.

It wouldn't be the end of the world. I have done it before on three occasions, so it wouldn''t be something new for me.:)

    Call me Papillon.:)

But camping way out in the middle of nowhere would they could not catch me would be even better. Your feet,as they say in Ireland, are not just for dancing with...

But you know when they come for me to put me in prison from my Faith itself I am sure I would happily go, if they could catch me. :)

If you have nothing worth dying for, well then, you have nothing worth living for.

    Dying is nothing.

Dying and then being sent to hell on the other hand is quite something.

That's where Apostate Catholics who deny Christ and Spit on His Cross go, to Hell, to the Eternal Flames forever and ever.

In case folks have forgotten. Forever and Ever.

The Eternal Screams. I hope that puts a bit of back bone in certain people.

This Generation appears to have forgotten the Back Bone thing.

with the pandemic coming to an end, I would like to see some statistics on how many non-practicing Catholics have returned to exercising their faith by attending the Eucharist at least weekly.

I think that like Our Lady we must store all these things in our hearts .

But we can't change what other people do, only what we ourselves do .

As Pope St John Paul said, what the Church needs most is saints. May God grant us the grace to be so.

But there is no doubt that the Church in Ireland is dying very rapidly.

If the Church were a person it would be on a Ventilator by now.

But the Church is the Bride of Christ.

He sees her dying. The Bridegroom will rush to save His Bride.

    This fills me with hope.

FWIW, not that many Christians were fed to the lions. Yes, there were those who broke and ran, but the majority stayed kneeling and praying. This was so much the case that the examples of these Christians inspired others and led to the growth of Christianity.

This is a very modern and human take.

The view of the Fathers of the Church, the Pope's, the Saints and the Ordinary Faithful has always been that the Blood of the Martyrs is the Seed of the Church. This view is supernatural and mystical one and is to see events on Earth with the eyes of heaven.

Yes, my very holy parish priest of over 20 years, (Father Paschal O'Halloran) said in one of his homilies (given within the last 5 years of His parish life here at St Patricks South Grafton ) Sentiments as follows,,,,,

"We are living/free today, by virtue of the many sacrifices and sufferings of our forebears; those that have gone before us!
They suffered much, physically and spiritually. They handed the faith/truth to us. We are indebted to them!
Let us pray that God will strengthen us and provide forbearance through their intercession."

This homily, was given years ago, yet it made a deep impression on me because, I realised that the early Catholics in Australia had suffered many privations as well as persecutions, which I had not previously thought about.

Isn't it amazing and wonderful that a homily can stick with you for decades, so much so, that it still invades your thoughts!

Thank you Lord for this human trait. It is superb!

    Blessed be God Forever!

I read something wonderful about Martyrs that I had never known a little while back. That they are counted amongst the Virgin Souls that follow the Messiah in the Book of the Apocalypse. This is because having being washed clean in their own blood they go back to their Baptismal Innocence and are cleansed of all their sins.

This would be I suppose the reason why we would say that Martyrs when they die go straight to heaven and should be at once regarded as Saints:

144000 ; such an interesting precise number.

    Revelation 14:4

    The Lamb and the 144,000
…3And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. And no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 4These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever He goes. They have been redeemed from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. 5And no lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.…

Among the Martyrs we should never, ever forget the Victim Souls. Chosen souls who willingly accept being placed on the Cross their whole lives as a living oblation.

    Recently I heard a Carmelite Nun being asked what she thought her vocation was, to which she gave the truly wonderful heart - stopping reply;

'My Vocation is to hang on the Cross with Christ'

Which reminds me of the Words of St Therese of Liseaux,

'I am called to be love at the heart of the Church'

    Wonderful examples of Modern Victim Souls were Padre Pio and Alexandrina De Costa;
