How do others on the forum deal with family members brainwashed by the covid fear narrative?

I can't get through to some of my sons who have totally bought into vaccines and boosters that's their decision which I have to respect but they don't respect my decisions.

Actually I have had to hold back as they don't really listen to facts presented. They think their old Dad is off his trolly lol

    Strange old times.

It’s definitely a hard situation. I can only offer - approach it with and through prayer knowing ultimately it’s the evil one who is using all of this to create disharmony. I guess it comes down to - we have to agree to disagree but we all still love each other. In the end, perhaps they are motivated by fear- they are worried for you and don’t want to see you become ill? So maybe they react forcefully in that sense out of love for their dad. But, even if not, all you can continue to do IMO is hold your tongue. Think of the Lord in front of those who wanted to crucify him. He opened not his mouth. Peace

I have a similar situation with some family. Its difficult. I'm trying to avoid the subject when we meet up. It's definitely a cause of division. I'm promising to keep my my trap shut on the subject over Christmas.

Though our children at times think Dad and Mom are "fuddy duddies", we're not in your camp. I'm sorry you've gotten such pushback from those you care for so deeply! :( Some of us have refused the shots, others have not. But at this stage, no one in my immediate family is pointing fingers. My wife's sister and her family, however, are on the opposite end of the spectrum. It is an upside down world.

Holy Mary, intercede for garabandal's family. Let this not devolve into a rift. May your Maternal care prevail!

Its hard. "Division" is a powerful spirit right now. I try not to feed it.:) They can't hear what you tell them. They are looking through a different lens entirely. I just keep silent. And pray interiorly. Its hard. Last summer husband and son came at me about ny religious and political views. Hammered me actually. I stayed silent. I felt like I was being interrogated. Unpleasant but so many are going through this with loved ones.:(

All of my family are together with us for Christmas - for the Turkey and Ham dinner I suspect.

I think I will ban talk of covid and vaccines. My house, my rules.

And have a few glasses of wine with my turkey.

    And chillax lol

Yes AED, this has been a spiritual fight. It cannot come with words and I too pray quietly. Those who seek to "divide" are no longer listening.

I read a really brilliant interview given to a Professor of Social Psychology. He says that before the Pandemic populations were suffering from , 'Generalised Anxiety Disorder', in much the same way as Germany in the 1930's. He cited the amount of Medications people were on and the rates of mental illness. You could say folks were half mad anyway. The virus gave people something to focus on and go totally mad about.

He says the best way to help people is to gently and persistantly tell them the truth to try and talk them down. He says eventually all this madness will burn out.

My own guess is that anyone who does not have a living Faith is more than half mad anyway and that hell is a kind of lunatic asylum.

Some places which have the most totally rejected God like Australia, New Zealand , Australia, Germany and Ireland are total , total lunatic asylums.

Kindness and truth telling and prayer for the poor head cases is only answer. But I am afraid letting them rattle on till it all blows over and God intervenes seems the only way....

May God have Mercy on them and us for having to put up with them.:)
Fear is a terrible thing, I wonder who and what they'll all turn on next?

    Someone to blame.

I didn't celebrate Christmas with the family last year because my state was in a very serious state of pandemic with the hospital system at its limit, now the whole state is at the blue level of the pandemic which allows us to have a Christmas dinner; and frankly perhaps people value family ties more after a long period of isolation.

Just the same with every other lie people try to force me into believing: "no", "I don't believe it", "I'll think it over", etc.

Here are some examples of me dealing with lies:

    -Take communion in the hand!
    -no
    -(lies come)
-I don't believe that(or I'll think about it(which further convinces me more not to take it))

    -Take the vaccine!
    -no
    -(lies come)
    -I'll think it over
    -(more lies come)
    -(I remain silent)

-X died of covid. And some people still don't believe.
    -were they vaccinated?
    -(lies and anger come)
    -I don't believe it.
    -(more lies come)
-(I don't press the issue more)

I've been told that I don't believe in anything, and plenty of people get really really angry sometimes if you don't believe the same lies they do. But I am fine with that, I know in Whom I believe.

Yes Padraig I am living in a lunatic asylum (here in Australia).
Probably a more severe asylum than yourself.

I can not work without the Jab.
As a Registered Nurse my qualifications are null and void and I can not work anywhere in Australia because I have not been jabbed with the death jab.
Out of my seven living children, 5 have received the doubled dose jab due to needing their jobs for survival!
    What to Do?
    I don't know.
All I do is pray and cry.
I depend so much on many saints.
But St Monica seems to be the one God is calling me to emulate
She died at the at the age of 56 I think. However She prayed and cried for Her children especially her son Augustine, that God heard her prayers and saw her tears and answered her prayers.

The above depiction of St Monica is my favourite.

It is so humble and pleading.

St Monica Pray for me, and my wayward children. Amen.
    So May it be.

How dare you exclude Canada on this list!!

Seriously though, my family is very divided on this issue. I won't be seeing my mother or 3 siblings (and their families) this Christmas not because we won't see them but because they won't see us. We've got the plague (meaning very healthy yet shot free and willing to test). It's been many months of so much tension, anger and division. Like any process it has now somewhat exhausted itself. We are avoiding the topic and mostly maintaining a very subpar text/email/phone relationship with them. Sadly, I admit, my desire to see them is really low now too. I pray we can repair things in the future.

On my wife's side we see her mother and sisters family quite regularly. Somehow despite some of them fully believing in shots they don't believe in separation or fear.

This is a cross that we have been offering up for months. I don't have any advise other than endure and unite your cross with Christ's suffering for everyone's sake.

This is a very, very great Cross indeed. Last Christmas I was invited up to my sisters for Christmas dinner , which I quite enjoy. The invitation was withdrawn because (as I found out later) my nephews who had recently returned home from England strenuously objected that I would put them all in danger of life and limb by my presence.

What a pain in the ass.

But I managed to keep my cool. Almost.:)

But I comfort myself with the thought that this is their choice, not mine.

But it leaves me thinking..well. if I am not welcome at Christmas...well..when am I welcome..when well I ever be welcome...? ..at my funeral...but even at my funeral will I permitted to have a funeral..would it even be safe to bury me?

Should my body and that of my two dogs be shot into orbit? :D:eek:

Sometimes I wonder if I might be better of believing in all this crap. Maybe it is better to be nuts whenever everybody else is..not to know any different.
    A kind of happy insanity.
