Whats your favourite hymns and why??? after all when we sing we pray twice.. 1st Be not afraid.... this hymn, I describe as my concrete block it has helped me in times of need and most recently in the greatest battle my household endured, I felt that God was not there in fact I thought he had abandoned my world, this song ignited my fire once again as did Pope Benedict's recent remark "it felt like God was asleep" his words pierced me so deep, I thought to myself here is a man who is so close to God he can nearly touch him and yet he has felt what I have felt ? remarkable.. 2nd Quiet my mind Lord ..... I find the only time that I can truly pray is when things are quiet and my mind is not racing... 3rd Hiding place (vard sisters)...... as above if I pray in silence and my mouth does not speak I get totally lost in the Spirit and as the song says "I go searching for your hiding place" well sometimes just sometimes I find it..
Where to start? I think I have to categorize them in order to shorten my list. The old standard, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty speaks volumes to me because it focuses on who God is: the only One worthy to be worshiped! I Am the Bread of Life because it so closely echoes Scripture and points to the greatest, most intimate gift, this side of the grave! Hail Holy Queen is my favorite Marian hymn! More to come... Safe on the Father's lap.
City of God is a most joyest song. I can't wait to get there! Servant Song best describes my plight to understand what God wants from me. How can I make God happy?
Don' t think i have ever heard it sung would love to hear the version you talk about as it is my favourite prayer reminds me of a battle cry..
I asked the Holt Spirit for a short prayer to say during the day, looking for something like Jesus, Mary and Joseph we love you, save souls, since I say morning prayers to the name of Jesus and Mary offering up masses, the passion and death of Our Lord Jesus, ect. for all of us, the Holy souls, the pope and the church. But the Holy Spirit had other ideas and the Sanctus kept pouring out of me. Lately, it switched and the Agnus Dei keeps pouring out of me. I love this video after I pray
1. Amazing Grace 2. O Godhead hid, devoutly I adore thee ( Aquinas) 3. In Christ Alone, my hope is found. 4. There is a redeemer, Jesus God's own son. 5. Salve Regina
this is a great thread! My husband is enjoying all the music everyone....a beautiful, peace filled Sunday afternoon, a one hour walk on the tow path with my pup, family dinner in the oven and my two grown boys coming home for some Prime rib Sunday dinner, just like old times!
It is your will. It is your desire to burn within me as a consuming fire...Sanctify! Thanks Hope! By the way, as we were singing various parts of the Holy Mass today I marveled at what a beautiful worship song the Gloria is! Safe in the Father's Lap!
The Bocelli Our Father always sends shivers up my spine, too. This kid and her Our Father rendition is beautiful, too. Where is that voice coming out of a little kid like that?
Mine would be Amazing Grace How Great thou art Morning has broken Be not afraid The Lord is my Shepherd
