Jon, would you mind explaining what do you mean by the sentence in bold. Thanks. Hope you are not suggesting the possibility that Pope Francis might not be the true Pope. This is simply unacceptable for a Catholic faithful to the Church.
I was essentially just taking that theoretical devil's advocate position. I certainly hope that is not the case. However, I think I have developed such a distrust for evil in this world, and how powerful it has arisen over the last 100 years specifically, that I guess I don't take much that is presented in the modern world as 100% true unless it is truly tested. (kind of like all the terror and violent incidents in the US these days....I don't trust how it is occuring, and who is creating it, and how it is being exploited). Remember, at some point, Jesus did warn that a desolating sacrilege would occur (allusion to Daniel's abomination of desolation, as I mentioned before). What does Jesus say we must do when we see that occur? (and when you read what he says, also remember that while those in the church will be doing what he said to do at that moment, which seems like the absolute low point of His Church in the world, we can be certain that the gates of hades are still not prevailing, and it would be a necessary crucible for what will likely be a remnant to pass through...)
This is mentioned in various places in the Bible Jon. Funnily enough, not so long ago I was compiling them together to ask people to spend time in Adoration whilst they still had this privilege. To my mind, and I am quite certain of this. It will be those from outside our Church rather than in who will stop the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, plus confession also, (unless priests agree to no more secrecy in the confessional) I also think that the Sacrament of Marriage will be taken away too (regardless of their empty promises atm) as we will be told that we are discriminating against gay people.
I feel I need to explain my intentions for posting the above comment, firstly I am no theologian in fact a lot of the deep stuff goes right over my head,I have however since 1990 been moved spiritually by God in one direction which always points to the messages coming from heaven and the end times, I was meant to go to Garabandal and have been drawn to it for so many years but I ended up at Medjugore I have been there three times the last time was several years ago I spent four weeks building a roof on a little chapel (fantastic experience) I have listened to peoples story's of visions of our lady and also seeing different things I cant say the same as it would frighten the life out of me,I only ever once saw which I truly believe was our lady in Mount Melleray when I was a young man which I have regrets over as I should have been prostrate and lying on the ground at such a vision, from that day God has spared me anything of the supernatural. I deeply believe that this generation will experience God and I feel that for a very long time Our Lady and the saints have been screaming this to us, therefore by saying that "I am on the fence watching" I only mean I am being prudent as God has warned us to watch, I had an instant feeling of wow and was very happy when I saw pope Francis my wife and I both proclaimed "he's lovely" but then when we study the messages from the saints and heaven on this subject..(May God forgive me for being human and wrong in my thoughts) on what times we live its very difficult to listen and watch especially when we get it wrong..My own personal interpretation of the revelations and where we are at in this present time is divided we could be in the time of the false prophet based on a evidence gathered i.e St Malachy's and other saints prophecy's, or my own deep deep feeling which I got instantly when I saw Benedict and Francis praying together I felt as if God was saying in my soul "Two witnesses read Rev 11 again John". So that's were I am at now, I take great courage in knowing I must be a catholic as I am confused and have guilt . I hope I made a bit of sense on this
I think many people are afraid to believe that the Pope is how he seems because of the many false messages. Our Lady constantly asks us to pray for priests and the Pope. Thats all we are asked to do. Jesus has promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against Peter leading His church. There have been many less than desirable Popes in the history of the church but the promise given Jesus has always held true. We are told not to get involved in critzeing priests. The Pope is the supreme priest. He needs our love and prayers. Pray Pray Pray Mary
Our Lady warned us in the last Medjugorje message to pray for the priests and lately I have been wondering that if they fail, maybe we the parishoners may be held accountable because we didn't pray and fast enough for their vocation and their ministry.
Mary Ann! I would kiss you if I could see you! We talk about our consolations in prayer etc, often it is our priest who through trials, tribulations and temptations has earned these for us. Jesus never asked anything for Himself, all the blessings came from His hands to others. It is the same with the priest with consolations etc. He rarely gets any, if any at all. They go to his parisoners or another soul of God's choosing. Conversions come about in this way too. Absolutely, we should pray for our priest, fast for them too.. I believe wholeheartedly that God will ask me how I supported them. I would die if he looked in my hands and all he saw was gossip and tearing them down.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to the forum. Jon, It sounds like you equate the election of a Pope with any political election or any human event, which we Catholics know it is not. We don't need to wait and see how a Pope behaves to know that he is the Rock on which Jesus Christ is building the Church TODAY, with the power of the Holy Spirit -no room for "healthy" devil's advocate on this case, it would be plain devilish confusion. It is pretty dangerous territory to put our human judgment ahead of faith in this case, as by so doing we really open BIG the doors for the enemy to obfuscate us. We have had more than a share of not holy Popes throughout history, but the Holy Spirit has never allowed them to make decisions in maters of faith and morals that would lead the Church astray -the Spirit remains on the alert on that, we have many proves. This issue seems to me to be especially critical in our days, when we think we can have a free opinion on everything -and we practice that here in the forum a lot with private revelations. A legitimately elected Pope is the Vicar of Christ, and that's not open to opinion -this is not a private revelation , actually it is pretty public (meaning "official" or "canonical") . Although, of course, we can have our own personal opinion about the man, but not about the role. Just my two cents
Incorrect (and somewhat judgemental). I will never equate the church with a human institution or simply an organization. It is a living organism...the Body of Christ. I don't even like to hear any inferences from those that do make those parallels in the media (which occurred over, and over, and over during the conclave...continuously giving an inordinate voice to those who want the church to be a democracy that adopts popular culture as truth). I am just openly wondering how paragraph two in my response could ever come about. Especially in the context of prophecies that mention the Pope going into hiding. My disdain for the continuous lies and propaganda coming from the governments of the world, (and the money that backs them), was just included to illustrate how frustrated I am at the level which evil is permeating our world (at what I believe to be the closing moments of the 100 year attack on the church). When you also contemplate the information contained in that video Glenn posted detailing the communist agenda and its inflitrators into the seminaries and ultimately the hierarchy (and the papal confirmations of it as it happened), it just makes my heart ache for the Church and the times we live in. Here is Glenn's original post: Glenn said: ↑ This is a very interesting video , on how Communism would infiltrate the Church ,slowly over time. As Conchita ,and Mary Loli have stated from their messages from Mary, Communism will rear its ugly head once again, before the Warning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL1RvQdj7Bc&feature=youtu.be I am actually interested in how others foresee paragraph two of my previous response coming about. However, I really just inserted the devil's advocate ramblings to shine a light on something I perceive as very evident here. First, I will put it in context of my limited experience. I only have strong memories of popes going back to JPI, so really, a sample size of three popes is what my mind is working with here. Of the three (JPI, JPII, and Benedict XVI), one of these, JPII, by his actions over time, became a giant in the church and literally moved the world. Because of the greatness of his papacy, we all hunger for that now in these critical times, and we trust in the Holy Spirit to move in the church in this way. However, I sense something premature when I see an emotional "cult of personality" emerging around Pope Francis almost immediately, without any time having passed, or substantive actions having been undertaken. I understand the desire and the hope, but the papacy is not meant to be based on those emotional personality things, even though they evolved naturally out of JPII's many years because of the genuine, empirical, observable, realities the manifested through his evident holiness and leadership of the church. So, maybe I have been too jaded by thoughts like those in the communist attack video above. And, therefore, maybe it is not right for me to postulate on how the crucifixion of the church might occur, and how it might relate to the desolating sacrilege, and what constitutes the exact time when Jesus said we will need to "run for the hills", and how it fits with private revelation. Maybe you are certain of how these things will come about, and can proclaim with authority which interpretations of this part of echatology are possible, or not.
My response doesn't make any judgment about you but about the opinion you wrote down as viewed from the perspective of our Catholic faith, so I don't understand why do you call it "judgmental". I agree with you 100% I understand now what you mean, but the way it was written down: Jon said: ↑ Remember, it may not be impossible for the chair to be "seemingly" usurped. It may not be impossible that the true pope is already in hiding.is actually a negative judgment on the legitimacy of Pope Francis and maybe several previous Popes -which you are clarifying in this post is not your thought. I just wanted to have this clarified. Thank you. For one thing, there are so many prophecies circulating at this time, and so many people trying to undermine the Papacy and the Church, that I think it is important to keep the boundaries of opinions clear and distinct from matters of faith. On the other hand, it doesn't sound very "sound" to disregard fundamental aspects of faith -re: the legitimate election of a Pope- on behalf of a possible prophecy or private revelation. These are two very different planes, one of reality backed by the Gospel and Church Tradition, and the other of sheer speculation -at least for the time being. Personally I do believe that the Church was certainly "infiltrated" somehow -the smoke of satan that Paul VI mentioned- but not at the level of the Papacy, and I would not speculate on that topic. I also hear what you say about the "high" that many people are having with Pope Francis, and I'm just waiting to see how they turn against him -Good Friday after Palm Sunday kind of thing- because it is not based on faith, meaning "this is the man that God has chosen to lead the Church NOW"; but rather for many it is about: "finally a good guy that thinks like I do or does what I like" type. Many people are watching gestures but are not reading or listening to his words. He couldn't be more right on the gospel : the Cross, martyrdom, service, forgetfulness of self, humility, true charity, conversion, preaching with our life, etc. He is challenging to the left and to the right with the same soft voice but strong words. This is no nonsense what he is bringing to the forefront but bare gospel stripped of trappings. And here we all have something to hide in ourselves. I think he is going to generate strong opposition VERY SOON. For instance, you probably have heard that he is backing the results of the Visitation to the LCWR (USA nuns) and the reformation of their statutes. Well, the LCWR now want an audience with Pope Francis because they are certain that "he doesn't have all the information". What does it mean? I think that they believe that the Pope can't be so much for the poor -the LCWR banner- and not support also all the other liberal and non-catholic takes that they carry in the same bag with the poor agenda. But this doesn't mean that there is a problem with the Pope, which I think it is rather in the people unaware of his depth. The problem is in the others, not in the Pope. But again, I support the Pope strongly only because it is the chosen instrument of Holy Spirit -who is ultimately the true leader of the Church specially at a time of crisis like ours. Thanks for all these explanations, Jon. No, I don't know how things are going to happen, and to be honest I don't delve much into the hows of the future. But I'm certain of the seriousness of our times and try to apply this certainty to my daily life by striving to be prepared to respond with fidelity today, and tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, whatever happens whenever happens -or doesn't happen. It is helpful to me, in any case, to have a general knowledge of what is coming -thanks to God's graciousness sending us prophets, and through prayerful discernment- because my life is very different from what it would be if I did not believe in the gravity of our time.
