    Be careful with your terms. We have had anti-popes before, during the Great Schism where there were up to 3 popes. The problem is that all 3 popes were validly elected under the rules of the time. As soon as things got sorted out, the true pope immediately changed the rules so that a new pope could not be elected while the valid pope was still enthroned.

    What to be concerned about is not an anti-pope, but a FALSE pope: one that was elected in violation of the rules set down for the conclave. One such event would be if a quorum of cardinals could not be assembled before the 20th day after the late pope's death. By law, the conclave MUST begin no later than the 20th day after the death of the old pope, and within the Sistine Chapel, or if for some reason that is not possible, within the walls of Vatican City. (I don't know if Castel Gandalfo would qualify as being part of Vatican City.) If the cardinals assembled, even if they didn't form a quorum, were to undertake the election of a pope OR if they began the conclave after the 20th day (say, due to civil disturbance or pandemic quarantine), then what would be elected would be a FALSE pope, without the charism of infallibility.

    It is like a knife through the heart.

    But the Pope is Mary's favorite son on Earth.

    How it must grieve her to see the abominable things he is up to. These things will make God very,very angry indeed.

    The Hand of Justice is on all our shoulders. But most especially on Pope Francis's.

    Mark my words this guy will come to a very,very bad end indeed.

    God is not mocked

    'Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
    He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
    He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
    His truth is marching on.'

    Agree AED….and the pace that this is all taking place is unprecedented….both church related division and global chaos.
    We just need to constantly remind ourselves that “God has this”….even if we feel its out of control, He is in control!

    Amen! That’s the attitude we need to take. We know His victory is coming…we need to live with confidence in the victory now.

    It's so depressing. Cardinal Czerny is just another Jesuit, so we can expect all sorts of heresy and apostasy to be passed off as continuity and doctrinal development.

    Looking at the decline in Catholicism in Latin America, it boggles the mind that any Bishop would boast about his track record there.

    An interesting thought of Anne’s that if the church were to be restored in all her beauty and truth the modern Catholics couldn’t take it. There is certainly a contempt for ‘pre Vatican II’ anything.

    And yet… there is hardwired into all of us a sense of the truth even if it is so largely obscured. I have read that in the UK there were around 3000 conversions a year to the faith. The current figure won’t be a shadow of that. A renewed and holy church would attract more, certainly. And yet…

    There is another factor to this aversion to the truth in the modern age and the rarity of a well-formed conscience. The modern age is such that even without Vatican II I think we would see a decline in numbers. Someone in the classical age said that Rome would conquer through the bath house and the forum - comforts and shopping. Yup, that will do it. St John Paul II warned the poles after communism fell that they must beware the commercialism and materialism of the age and they didn’t like it. He was right.

    It’s not as if we don’t have holy priests. I am sure many of us know holy priests who may not hit the headlines but who live heroic lives and believe what the Church teaches. I have known several who would have been exemplary in any age.

    Everything that is Catholic is truly Eternal, all that is not Catholic is perverse and passing.

    We , by our very nature have already won the Victory the Fight.

    The Tribulation is a bonfire that burns the perverse all the quicker.

    We burn too, but to our Sanctification rather than our own dam nation.

    All is passing, only Heaven is Eternal.

    I wouldn't get too hung up on the evil heresies and heretics alm around us, Go's is dealing with them in His own way and on Gis own time scale.

    But dealing with them He is .

    Did you ever notice how they are getting crazier and crazier?

    A sign they are crashing and burning.

    I agree Clare. Money and leisure has not been good for us. Sloppy catechesis and a general lukewarmness has been devastating. Our holy workaday priests and there are many--do not grab the headlines.
