    Then I suppose they don't believe the earthquakes are caused by movement in plate boundaries, as Brisn explained in his post.

    seems there has been a small landslide on one side of the mountain although not the side TV Canarias are showing. Their camera is focused on the side where there was a split in the vent. Right now, it looks like the whole side could collapse.

    Watching this volcano can be addictive. I need to get a life, as the kids would say.

    Yes I can see that as a good explanation but when the Icelandic eruptions where happening USGS reported on all of them :confused::confused::confused:

    Iceland is on a plate boundary. La Palma isn’t. I don’t know if that accounts for this or not.

    A volcanoe spewing lava, exploding violently and being generally unpredictable in its ferocity and far reaching consequence s just is precisely what you would expect from a volcanoe. If it happens to cause the devastating tsunami there is not a lot we can do about it to be fair. I have a kayak in the shed the wife and kids can look after themselves. And to hell with everyone else. :whistle:

    Bill McGuire updates on the threat of mega-tsunami - dated September 20 2021

    It is likely that when the west flank fails, it will do so during an eruption, but this could be 10, 30, or 50 eruptions down the line. The chances that collapse will occur during the current eruption are very small, but we cannot say they are zero.
