Alert: Volcano eruption in La Palma could result in mega-tsunami

I think the problem with the volcano is we just dont know exactly how it will pan out, different scenario's have debunked what may or may not happen, so many factors have the possibility to be either a non event or a catastrophe, things like tide depth weight etc. I think the best way to deal with this is to put things in perspective..

Just noticed a string of earthquakes in the last 24 hours which stretch around the center of the globe from a volcano in hawaii through mexico, puerto rico, canarys and india. strangely in a straight line ??

I just saw this comment on the thread at the forum I linked above. It sums up my current concerns:

What we see above the sea level is but a mere fraction of what is underneath. The same people that would say that an iceberg is much bigger under water then above, also say that the bit of the island that could slide in the ocean is too small to cause a mega tsunami.

What we see on streams is but a fraction of the section that could slide in the ocean. The chunk in question it's wedge shaped and what we see above the water is the very TOP of the land mass in question, and it is SLIM compared the the volume of same chunk of land that CONTINUES under the water.

This is no joke.

If certain conditions are met, and it really looks that those conditions are happening right now (lava is SLOWLY going up, and slowly oozing from the at least 8 mouths open on the surface -hence no volcanic tremors-, the heat is slowly moving towards the ground water -second law of thermodynamics- ), that already UNSTABLE mass of land who fell 13 feet in the past (from 1949 eruption quakes) could very well slide fully into the ocean (due to vapor pressure from heated groundwater pushing the landmass upward enough to trigger a landslide).

DO people really think that this is ALL that happened? 8 days of quakes and a night of cool lava eruptions)? The amount of lava that is underneath is massive compared to what was spewed out in the last 24 hours.

The lack of quakes is absolutely worrying, for me, at least.

When the tremor sequences started on 11th., the "experts" were saying "it might blow up, but probably not for another thousand years". When things accelerated, the same "experts" were saying that it might erupt, but not for weeks, judging on the depth and intensity of the quakes.

I believe that what we are seeing now is like a "filament" of the lava mass, and found it's way to the surface, through some cracks. It explains the multiple vents and the low intensity of the eruption. Yeah, LOW, even if it looks massive on the screens, it's a very weak eruption.

We have conditions in place that could trigger a landslide big enough to destabilize the landmass that can trigger a mega tsunami. Either a powerful eruption in the coming days, that will instantly trigger a quake powerful enough to destabilize the landmass in question, either heated up groundwater triggering vapor accumulation that can destabilize the landmass in question.

If this will happen or not, it remains to be seen, but to remove it out of the realm of possibility is insane.

If this landslide + Tsunami was a 1:100,000 chance to happen, now it is much higher, and each day that passes, rises this possibility, until the main eruption takes place.

We could call ourselves lucky if the lava doesn't cause enough vapor pressure, and the main eruption (which is YET to happen), won't cause an earthquake strong enough to destabilize the landmass in question.

Yes Brian I have been carefully watching and listening all day from what I have gathered the lava flow will reach the sea around sunset (La palma Time) once the lava reaches the sea it will obviously cause steam, boiling water, ash plumes and acid. one thing for sure that alone will be a spectacular sight.

 

This video is part of a longer video on a possible La Palma landslide and tsunami. But it’s very well done and definitely worth watching, especially the second half. After watching it everything pointing to the distinct possibility of a landslide makes a lot more sense.
