Based on no. 7 in this (hyperlinked) list, can the memorial of St Tarcisius (August 15th) be considered a viable option as a date for the Miracle of Garabandal? (Am I overlooking something?)

Jumping in. How wonderful you are going to confession. The priest will help you if you ask. God bless you. Just do the best you can.
Start by saying the length of time since your last confession.

    March April or May....

Some evidence only April is viable...

Of course God can do whatever He wants.

While you're waiting for Glenn to reply...

As mentioned above by "HeavenlyHosts," it's absolutely wonderful that you have decided to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (aka Confession) after being away for several years. Every participant on this discussion thread will be thrilled for you! :)

Consider contacting a Catholic priest - in advance - to request what is often referred to as a "general confession." This phrase will reveal to the priest that you will require a little extra time. You can mention that it has been a number of years since your last confession. In this way, when you eventually meet, the priest will guide you each step of the way. However, in advance, it’s also a good idea to spend a little ‘quiet time’ with a written outline for a personal examination of conscience. HERE is one such example. There are many other such guidelines available on the Internet. Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten and guide you as you prepare for your confession.

"One who desires to obtain reconciliation with God and with the Church, must confess to a priest all the unconfessed grave sins he remembers after having carefully examined his conscience..." CCC, §1493

Typically, the priest who is administering the Sacrament will NOT require tremendous details about each and every sin which you have committed in the past. Nor would you be expected to remember every sin or every detail. Sometimes the priest may request that you clarify or disambiguate a particular sin which you have confessed. For example, if you confess that you have stolen on two separate occasions – which would be a violation of the 7th Commandment – the priest may ask if you stole a box of candies from your brother, or a luxury automobile from the local car dealership. Clearly, this is an important distinction. Click HERE also.

Even those sins which you have sincerely forgotten will be forgiven when the priest grants you absolution at the end of your confession. However, it is VERY important that you do not ‘deliberately’ conceal or withhold any serious (mortal) sins which you do in fact remember at the time of your confession. If you do so, this will invalidate the entire confession. [It's not uncommon for penitents to suddenly remember a few unconfessed sins after absolution has been granted by the priest. That's okay and nothing to be concerned about. These too have been forgiven.]

"...When Christ's faithful strive to confess all the sins that they can remember, they undoubtedly place all of them before the divine mercy for pardon. But those who fail to do so and knowingly withhold some, place nothing before the divine goodness for remission through the mediation of the priest, 'for if the sick person is too ashamed to show his wound to the doctor, the medicine cannot heal what it does not know.'" CCC, §1456

Before the priest grants you absolution for your sins (in the name of Christ and His Church) he will ask that you voice aloud an “act of contrition.” This can involve a script which has already been written… or one which you say in an impromptu (unrehearsed) manner. If you want – though it’s not necessary – at this time you can also ask the Lord for His forgiveness of any sins which you have genuinely forgotten. (Hope this helps a little...)

Most importantly, please do not be nervous, afraid, or ashamed. There is nothing that you will confess that the priest has not already heard from others. God is merciful. You will be in my prayers.

Actually, my concern involved the fact that August 15th is also a Marian feast day (solemnity). Therefore, is it reasonable to speculate that St Tarcisius might be the "young martyr of the Eucharist"?

  9. My friend Credo...

I feel we have come full circle.

Years ago I speculated that perhaps St Tarcisius was the young martyr...

You pointed out his feast day was in August and ( not April, May, or June) and also on a Marian feast day. You also pointed out that if God wanted us to know the day He would have not made it impossible to figure out....

The point being we should not concern ourselves with the idle speculation about the date but rather living the messages given to us by Our Lady....Your advice to me years ago.

Hello Friends, I haven't posted in quite some time, but have been reading every so often. And this conversation intrigues me. Here's a very long shot and probably an absolute no as I don't know what the saint day would be, but has anyone given any thought to Carlo Acutis? He was not a "martyr" of the Eucharist but he did create an online database of Eucharistic miracles around the world set out at a very young age to do this. Just a thought.

Seems to me, offer up any challenges that come your way as sacrifices & penance. They could be physical, emotional, spiritual, Mass cancellation, being chided for difficult choices, etc.

    Does that sound right?

This one of the reasons I go on a regular basis, easy to remember the details. Most Priests are very understanding, just give the best estimate of how long its been, that is not as important as to giving a better idea of the "type of sins" you've committed, in general terms. Just go, you'll be fine, God knows what's in your heart.

Think.... How could he possibly be the "Martyr ", if Conchita saw his name on her Kitchen calendar in the 1960's ???

    “MIRACLE DAY MARTYR” CRITERIA

A young male martyr of the Eucharist.

Because of the first statement, it is male , not female.

Not being of Spanish heritage. (as per Conchita).

The Miracle is in April, so must the feast day.

Feast day must fall between the 8th-16th.

His feast day will coincide with an Ecclesiastical event in the church,
but will not be a feast day of our Lord or a Marian feast day.

Since the " Miracle Saint" information came about in 1963, it would have to be the Traditional Latin Mass schedule. The Novus Ordo didn't start until 1965. ( It is possible that his name did not appear on the calendar in 1963,so that complicates things. Saints feast days do move)

SO PLEASE CHECK ALL THESE ITEMS OFF BEFORE YOU SUBMIT THEM.THANK YOU.
