I want to point out something that some people may interpret as a "miracle cure"; it is definitely not. Having said that, I cannot overemphasize the benefits of taking Vitamin D as a preventative measure. I cannot speak for Brazil, but I know in America, 40% of the population is deficient in Vitamin D. One of the main features of this vitamin is the role it plays in reducing inflammation; and you'll see one of the main problems with covid is how it causes inflammation throughout the body's systems.

Whats more, in America of the African-American population 60% are deficient in vitamin D, while in Hispanic populations it's around 80% deficient. Which two groups have been hit hardest by Covid?

This was backed up by a study done in Madrid, Spain, and published in a medical journal there. A doctor noted that many of the patients coming to the hospital for covid were deficient in vitamin D. So, as a test, he took 74 patients of varying ages and conditions, all deficient in vitamin D. 50 of them he gave massive doses of vitamin D to bring their levels up to normal, then continued smaller doses to maintain the proper level; the remaning 24 did not get extra vitamin D. ALL of the 24 who did not get the vitamin D required intensive care intervention (intubation, etc.); of the 50 who got the vitamin D only 1 required intensive care. Administering vitamin D has now become a standard procedure upon admission to that hospital.

When I had covid back in March of last year, it lasted the standard 10 days before I felt better, however, my throat was still raw and I could only talk for about 10 minutes before my voice shut down. I had read an article some time before about how men of my age should take extra vitamin D, so I got some and started taking one pill (about 1,000 units) each day. By the 3rd day the inflammation had gone down and I had my voice back. About that time I had a doctor's appt. and I asked them to do a vitamin D serum to be sure. A few days later they called back -- after two weeks of taking the extra vitamin D my levels were down, and they wanted me to take more! So now I take 2,000 units per day.

The reality on the ground in these countries--India and Nepal and Sri Lanka included--does not fit your description. The health systems are being strained to the limit. Luan is boots on the ground in Brazil. He sees it. Friends just returned from Brazil. It is serious. This variant exacerbates it. India and Sri Lanka are in a spike that does not bode well. There has been much talk out there on the internet about the evil vaccines and the evil medical establishment and the false covid numbers. I know there have been inexcusable misinformations some deliberate--some because of the newness of the virus and a the need to take time to understand it. I think people were doing their best for the most part. To dismiss it as a hoax or a flu (yes Anne Barnhart i am looking at you) is to gravely wrong those who have suffered and those who have died. Some of us saw this up close and personal and by God's grace friends and family survived tho not all. Bottom line: I am praying for Brazil and India and Nepal and Sri Lanka. And I hope all of you will too.
I may sound harsh--but I think we must realize that competing narratives out there on both sides distort and exaggerate while people suffer. The truth so often lies somewhere in the middle.

I’ve been on here for well over a year (or 16 months?) BEGGING people to take at least 3000-5000iu per day of Vitamin D. Some folks probably thought I was nuts at the time, but my advice was borne out by the studies you quote here.

It is concerning. I wonder if the surge perhaps coincides with the vaccinations?

I’ve heard Moderna is the worse. This is very sad...

Again I will.have to respectfully disagree. If the health system has collapsed it in no way reflects the virulence of the virus which is statistically bad flu equivalent. The collapse speaks of an already broken system. Even in so called developed countries the health systems are a complete mess how much more so in so called third world countries. A normal flu year in Ireland has thr health system on the floor. What else it speaks of is the underlying health of the population. Are young healthy people dying in huge numbers in these countries?

Some say the virus may be man-made, which would suggest it is dangerous. The vaccines may be even worse.
