I’m keeping you in prayer at this difficult time Garabandal. One of my friends was in Church at the beginning of the covid. He asked the Lord what was behind it and immediately got the words, “A spirit of fear and a spirit of leprosy.”
Seems like you were carrying a heavy cross in Holy Week. Your mom in heaven could probably help if you offer prayers to her and other souls in purgatory to help in this situation. I agree with everyone else, you'll find your answer in prayer. I'll keep you and others in similar situations in my prayers. Just this morning we were reminiscing on the fact that when we were kids, we could eat stuff that fell on the ground or was a bit unclean in some way because we considered that in catching something, we were being immunized. In fact, our parents used to say this. As did I in the early years of my kids - we even had chicken pox parties, remember those? For years, the increase in allergies (a skewed immune reaction) was blamed on too much cleanliness. But now I guess fines or prison time will apply to parents who think this way. Oh how science changes with the times. On a practical side, I have read that many people have had covid-19 without knowing it and have anti-bodies. Perhaps you can get tested for antibodies and if you have them, this would appease the minds of your son & DIL.
This is so true. Does anyone remember they used to say, "You have to eat a pound (16oz) of dirt before you die." LOL
Pray! And I would refrain as long as possible. You've had a discussion about it with them, and obviously they feel differently than you. I would NOT get the vaccine, pray everyday that this will blow over and you can see your grandson, and wait. The next move is theirs. If you are quiet about it they cannot push you into a corner anymore. If they ask you out of the blue if you have received your shot I would say that you have decided to wait a few months longer and change the subject. If they tell you that you can no longer see your grandson even after they have given your grandson the vaccine (which I bet they will very soon), then they obviously have other issues with you and are using this as an excuse. If they can bully you into this, the next move may be to bully you into not sharing your faith with your grandson, and the list will go on from there.....
I have been asked too often by family members, co-workers and people I know 'have you got the vaccine yet' -- even people on the till of shops What's this all about that people feel they have the right to ask you about a private health matter between yourself and your GP and God? Strange times.
Hi, Garbandal, I have two grandchildren living with me, and their parents. It’s not easy at times. They have their own ways and outlook on life, different to mine. But I know God’s love is expressed in their hearts in all sorts of ways. Is our cross self imposed or placed on our shoulders by others? Either way we are required to learn to carry it. First and foremost, there is always a need to forgive our children for any perceived pain they may cause us. And may they do likewise for any pain we bestow on them, and for any cross we place on their backs. My own eperience reminds me that a sense of pride and stubborness is never far away in family disputes, and it was pride that made angels fall from heaven. God speaks to all hearts in his own way and in his own time. We should never forget that God is the good in every heart, whatever the person’s lifestyle or beliefs. And so we are called to let God be the judge. Be there for your grandson – don’t hold back – and place your complete trust in God to guide you on your way and through the storms of family life.
A I remember when building up a child's "fighting" germs was a thing. It seems to be the opposite nowadays. Also, there seems to be an increase in the number of children affected by asthma and autoimmune problems. Perhaps that's because there are better means of diagnosing such illnesses now. Who knows? I surely don't. I'm afraid that having had covid isn't considered sufficient reason to avoid the vaccine. There's a video on YouTube of US Senator Rand Paul asking Fauci why people who have had the virus need to be vaccinated and why those people and the immunised must continue wearing masks. Fauci said that the people who had the virus were only infected with what he called a wild strain. According to Dr. Fauci, antibodies from the wild strain don't provide sufficient immunity to the new variants. I'm too lazy to find and post the link but it isn't hard to find on YouTube. Having zero medical knowledge, it all makes very little sense to me. All I know is that I prefer to wait for an ethical vaccine - one that has gone through proper trials. Note to Garabandal: I'm also under a lot of pressure although my situation isn't nearly as dire as yours. Holding out is hard. I'll say a prayer that you have peace of mind whatever your eventual decision.
The wild strain? I don’t know whether to laugh incredulously or get angry. That’s a new one on me. I don’t know enough to refute him but on the face of it, it sounds ludicrous. It sounds like a way to coerce more people to receive the vaccines . Just my first thought upon reading that.
Same here. The vaccine discussion has suddenly become very 'public '. When I am asked this question it always comes from someone who has already been vaccinated, so I feel as though I am being set up to be shamed. My brother in law called last week bragging that he and his wife had the shots, and my husband ended up in an argument with him. I had a weird encounter with a random woman at the market last week. I stopped to use hand sanitizer on my way out of the store, and she proudly announced that she had been vaccinated so she no longer had to bother using the sanitizer like me. People are acting like they've won some sort of golden ticket. I don't see this mentality ending anytime soon, I suppose the unvaccinated will be shunned by society.
From a Mark Mallet piece a while ago: Recently, an Irish reader said she asked the Lord what was behind COVID-19 and the global response to it. The answer was swift: A spirit of fear and a spirit of leprosy—fear that drives us to treat others as lepers. Defeating the Spirit of Fear - The Now Word
Change tactic. This is not about will you take or not take the vaccine or the ethical issues surrounding the vaccine. The point rather is simply that there is no need for a vaccine for the overwhelming majority of people considering your own immune system is more efficacious then the vaccine itself. Covid poses a risk like the flu for vulnerable compromised people. There is a whole host of medicines that have been maligned for the treatment of covid that also make the "vaccine" irrelevant. Give your son the stats, the hard scientific data. There is no pandemic and there is no excess mortality to speak of anywhere in the world.
I know all the stats off by heart told them to him but there are ears that don't hear! We have to realise the majority of people have been brainwashed by the MSM and the fear mongering. The number of people I know who are awake and think like me I can count on my 2 hands.
I'd be tempted to hit back at them with something like "Have you started the menopause yet?" or "Are you taking Viagra yet?", or something similar, depending on their age. That would shut them up fast.
That's the spirit. War and laughter. Laughter is the best ingredient. Expose the silliness through gentle ridicule and laughter.
Or change the subject... "Never mind the vaccine, what I'd really like to discuss with you are my bowel issues.."
He seems to mean the original strain of the virus from Wuhan. The cynic in me suspects that calling it the wild strain serves two purposes: (1) it tells us that it came from animals and not the laboratory; (2) it cuts out any mention of Wuhan or China. Do you remember when calling it the China virus was condemned as racist? Racist to call it the Wuhan or China virus but not racist to call variants the UK strain, the South African strain or the Brazilian variant. You couldn't make it up. What's more, at least in Ireland, the same people who call us granny killers if we don't like the restrictions or take the vaccine will be pushing euthanasia on us next year. And when euthanasia is legalised, there'll be no shortage of members of the caring profession lining up to give us a different kind of injection.
