A man who failed every Lenten Season (Saying the Chaplet of Mercy)

From my own experience, I have found that embracing God's mercy in the midst of our misery, deepens our compassion for others. The more we understand our own slow growth towards freedom in Christ Jesus, the need to react to others and to take out our frustration lessens because of growth in empathy, which is deeper than compassion by itself. Scapegoating is common, easy, and wounding for our souls.

Not sure this is addressing your question.
    Peace

    Dear Brother Mark,

Thank you so very much. I'm a bit thick, I'm not sure I get what you are saying. Your messages are very spiritual, insightful and a bit over my head sometimes. But I am very grateful for them, I just don't fully understand. :)

The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony contains all the graces necessary for the married couple to get to Heaven. I have learned to call upon those graces from God continually throughout my marriage. Catholic marriage is a vocation. The married couple helps each other to get to Heaven. Faults and all.

    Dear HH,
Yes, that's the theory. My wife is not interested in prayer or Mass, though.

It's not a theory. Prayers for you both, and the family. You can send a message to me.

Most of what I say flows from my struggles, it is the only way that I can grow, slow as that is. If you do not understand it is because my writing skills are limited. We dol learn empathy for others by our sufferings and failures.

    Peace

If I don't understand it, it's because my spiritual understanding is limited!

As we all grow closer to the Lord, an eternal journey, so does our understanding.......we often know more than we know.

Sit down and just write about it, just let it flow, hold nothing back, you may be surprised what you actually do understand my friend.

    Peace

    Dearest Brother,
As I understand it, you were saying: If I could manage proper fasting and staying away from sin, I could help my wife and my marriage. I must admit I have some doubts in my specific case.
May God bless you and your retreat center or monastery, muchly.
