October 19, 1982 Garabandal Interview with Mari Loli Q. Do you remember what the Blessed Mother said about the communist tribulation that is to precede the Warning? A. It would look like the communists would have taken over the whole world and it would be very hard to practice the religion, for priests to say Mass or for people to open the doors of the churches. Is this prediction starting to come true in Ireland ? I am hearing sad news today coming out of Ireland, PLEASE PRAY FOR IRELAND ! Fr John S. Hogan, ocds (FROM TWITTER POST ) The Irish Government has confirmed that the celebration of public Mass is an offence punishable by law. A priest may not leave his home for a Mass except for a restricted funeral/wedding. Citizens may not leave their homes to attend Mass. https://www.catholicarena.com/latest/2021/3/28/irish-government-adamant-that-mass-is-unlawful-reports?fbclid=IwAR1N-AjuxudRZb8cZaRNNVoXV96fVmwXFHAyG7pFcn2ecNwn04WpiPGq7ZY
Public Masses are forbidden in the Philippines at this time due to Covid – let us keep Father JeLo and his parishioners in our prayers this Holy Week.” This was just posted on our parish fb page. Fr Jelo served us as pp before our present
The Irish people seriously need an election to replace the diabolical government running the show. Are mosques closed. I heard they are open for use in Ireland, and no one is interfering with them. And how come people are allowed to travel five kilometres from their home, but Priests are not allowed to go to their Churches. And how come we are able to watch live stream Mass in Dublin every day. This is simply confusing news.
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/soc...-says-mass-in-breach-of-covid-rules-1.4522152 Gardaí set checkpoints near church as priest says Mass in breach of Covid rules Mass ban is ‘sectarianism’ and anti-Catholic Church, Fr PJ Hughes of Mullahoran says Garda checkpoints were erected close to Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Mullahoran, Co Cavan, on Sunday as parish priest Fr PJ Hughes said Mass in defiance of the Covid-19 regulations. The 10am mass was delayed for about 20 minutes with many locals detained at the three Garda checkpoints erected on the roads into the church, which is in a rural part of the parish. Fr Hughes said he was furious having got a call from a local man who was prevented from getting to the church. “The guards attacked me and accused me of spreading the virus,” he claimed beforehand. “A guard told me that I was putting the lives of elderly people at risk. It’s a sad day that three Garda cars are circling around this church. Have they nothing else to do? God help us. “It is our faith that brings us here and they told me that I wasn’t reading the statistics and didn’t know what was going on. I told them I did not accept the negative message being poured out by RTÉ. It’s not fair. “This is sectarianism. This is against our faith. It’s a sectarian act against our Catholic Church encouraged by the Government who don’t believe in God anymore.” Fr Hughes likened the Covid-19 Level 5 restrictions – which mean all religious services, other than funerals, can be held online only – to the penal laws and Oliver Cromwell. He admitted he had “no friends in the Church” and the bishops did not want him saying Mass.
God help those who want to practice their Faith, especially keeping holy the Sabbath Day. As long as those people keep that distance, and wear those awful masks, why shouldn't they go to Mass. To me closing the Churches to the people is no different to hospitals being closed to patients, and people only allowed to watch the wards and the doctors and nurses on line. What use would that be to patients who needed to be IN the hospital to receive the medical assistance they needed. People should be free to be present and receive the Sacraments of the Church, not only watching on line. IMHO
Did you hear what happened in Scotland just a few days ago? A group of Pastors took the Scottish Government to Court under the European Convention on Human Rights. The Government was found guilty of breaching Religious Liberty of Expression by closing the Churches and it was found to be illegal. They have been forced to allow the Churches to reopen. As far as I know Ireland is signatory to the Convention and thus the closure of Churches in Ireland is illegal too.
https://www.newsletter.co.uk/health...ling-overturns-ban-on-church-services-3180180 Landmark court ruling overturns ban on church services A Court of Session in Scotland this week ruled that Scottish government Covid pandemic regulations, banning church services, “disproportionately interfered” with the freedom of religion secured in the European Convention on Human Rights. The quite extraordinary Edinburgh court ruling specified by the judge Lord Peter Braid, was in response to a judicial review taken by 27 church leaders of various denominations, including some Church of Scotland, Free Church and Roman Catholic congregations.
Yes Ireland is a Signatory of the European Convention of Human Rights and it was carried on into Irish Law in 2003. Hence the closing of Churches is as illegal in Ireland as it is in Scotland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_9_of_the_European_Convention_on_Human_Rights Article 9 – Freedom of thought, conscience and religion 1. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief, in worship, teaching, practice and observance. 2. Freedom to manifest one's religion or beliefs shall be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society in the interests of public safety, for the protection of public order, health or morals, or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others.
Thanks for posting ! I knew Ireland was not having mass but I did not realize that it was the government declaring it illegal! I will ask God to bring all of Ireland with me to Mass this week as we celebrate Tenebrea, Holy Thursday Mass, Good Friday Service and Easter Mass
We're at a very dangerous point here in Ireland in terms of basic civil liberties and rights. But then you'd have to wonder, do we not deserve to lose everything? First nation in the world to vote in same sex marriage and killing of the unborn by popular demand, and then celebrate it in the streets . Those two events are treated almost like public holidays here, the nation prides itself more on those two decisions than on anything else in the history of this Republic. We deserve much worse punishment than what we've seen so far.
Yes , but on the other hand there are I believe a load of Irish Saints walking the Earth. Also all the saints of Ireland, including including tens and tens of thousands of Irish Martyrs are interceeding for us.
We have all sinned, we have all fallen short, and deserve to be punished. But in spite of the blindness of Irish people allowing themselves as a Nation to vote for death and deadly cultures; I beg our Merciful Jesus to spare Ireland, spare all of us in His Righteous Indignation what we truly deserve. God bless the believers in Scotland. Brave Hearts. Saint Patrick and Saint Joseph, and Our Lady of Knock, pray for Ireland. And thank you Angels and Saints of God for bringing to the public forum, that the Irish government are breaking a law they have signed up to, when they impose closure on the Churches. With the help of God, people will be allowed to practice their Faith again without fear or favour. Praise God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
