I know its depressing but this is as far as the Church has sunk. Two million $ (For year 2020) and 1.4 mil (for 2019) for disgraced Cardinal Wuerl from old pal and fellow homo-sexualist fellow traveller. Cardinal Gregory.

How much might he have gotten if he was not disgraced?

Not so much snouts in the trough as being handed the entire farm.

I wonder how much Mr McCarrick is being dropped?

With interest that would be at least $50 000 a week payoff.

Nice work if you can get it. I wonder how much he'll get next year?

The unmitigated gall of these men is unreal. Simply unreal. No shame, just do whatever they want

I’m in that diocese. I wonder if we helped pay for this?

if I was in the diocese that was paying those bills; I would let everyone know that they would receive no more contributions from me or my family

This is an alternative plan. I'm not there yet, though.

The problem lies in the fact that Sunday offerings are taxed by the Archdiocese. I think this is probably a universal practice. So what people give to their parish also might end up supporting unknown and unwholesome causes.

I didn't know that Sunday offerings are taxed by the Archdiocese. But it makes sense. I wonder how much, our church is very very small.

Where there is money there is always, always corruption. The more money the worse the rot. The love of money is indeed the root of all evil.

I wonder if this was the main reason that the German Church has turned Schismatic? They get bank rolled by the State and are filthy rich.

    1 Timothy 6:10

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

I love the Church so much and when I hear of great scandals like this it can still shock and wound me. I was praying to the Lord about this and He was pointing out that it should indeed shock me still . The Lord was pointing out to me in prayer that the reason why it shocks me is that the people who cause these scandals are so different than myself which is no bad thing.

Imagine a dog looking at a cat. How can a dog ever really understand a cat, or a cat, a dog ? They are coming from two such different places.

In this case we are looking at pure unblinking wolves. Not understanding them is a sign of innocence and I think innocence in this case is a blessing. We cannot grasp the depth of the total depravity as we have never plummeted it ourselves.

It all reminds me a little of the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

One question often arises. Why does God let these monsters..and yes they are monsters...away with it?

I think I found the answer in a book I was listening to last night by St Alphonsus Ligouri, 'Preparation for Death'.

The saint says that the reason why God does not strike people dead on the spot is that he is reserving for them a much deeper place in hell. That letting them carry on with their sins so he can reserve for them a far, far greater punishment..

The same could be said for the State of the World at the moment.

I used to wonder why God did not strike. Now I know. He is getting set for a real, real biggie.

H is not letting people off the hook. He is placing them on the hook.

It is a bit scary, I admit. The Redemptorists used to take a vow (before Vatican 2 ) to preach on hell. I know this is not to everyone's taste but it is to me. It is the salt that saves and savours. We as Catholics have become too soft. There are such things as God's Justice, Hell and fearful Purgatories.

    We have forgotten.

One thing St Alphonsus and other saints of the period drive us to ask is the simple question,

    'What is my Eternal Destination?'

Heaven or Hell? ...or a terrible Purgatory? It throws me a bit to be faced with a searching question. Who asks such things these days. St Paul answered it by saying that as far as he knew he was fine but that it was God who would Judge his soul. The fashion these days is to suppose everyone is getting to heaven. But this is not what the saints thought. They thought that the large majority of mankind would go to hell and only a few would gain heaven. I am inclined to agree:

Well you have only to look around you at the world today:

"So vast a number of miserable souls perish, and so comparatively few are saved!" –Saint Philip Neri, mystic

“The greater number of Christians today are damned. The destiny of those dying on one day is that very few – not as many as ten – went straight to Heaven; many remained in Purgatory; and those cast into Hell were as numerous as snowflakes in mid-winter.” -Blessed Anna Maria Taigi, mystic

“Among adults there are few saved because of sins of the flesh. […] With the exception of those who die in childhood, most men will be damned.” -Saint Remigius of Rheims

Another thing St Alphonsus and other saints suggest is that we can kind of run out of the rope of mercy and run head on into God's Justice. That there is a given limit of the amount of sins we are allowed to commit before the doors get shut.

To take an extreme example. Say you are a Satanist and repent and go to confession.

Then you change your mind and go back to devil Worship again.

Well what St Alphonsus is saying that there is a limited amount of times which God will permit a soul to keep doing that back and forth thing.

    A sobering thought.

I don't know which is more disheartening. The sickening information in Michael Voris's video or the knowledge that most of us aren't ever going to see Heaven.
