Loreena McKennitt - The Seven Rejoices of Mary (set to the melody of the Star of the County Down).

    The Seven Rejoices Of Mary"

The first good joy that Mary had

It was the joy of one.

The first rejoice that Mary had

Was to see her new born Son.

To see her new born son good man,

    And blessed may He be.

Sing Father, Son and Holy Ghost,

    To all eternity.

The next good joy that Mary had

It was the joy of two.

    To see her son Jesus,

    Make the lame to go.

The next rejoice that Mary had,

It was the joy of three.

To see her own son Jesus,

To make the blind to see.

To make the blind to see good man,

    And blessed may He be.

Sing Father, Son and Holy Ghost,

    To all eternity.

The next good joy Our Lady had,

It was the joy of four.

It was the rejoice of her dear Son,

When he read the bible o'er.

The next good joy that Mary had,

It was the joy of five.

To see her own son Jesus,

    To make the dead alive.

To make the dead alive good man,

    And blessed may He be.

Sing Father, Son and Holy Ghost,

    To all eternity.

The next rejoice Our Lady had,

It was the rejoice of six.

To see her own son Jesus,

    To bear the crucifix.

The next good joy that Mary had,

It was the joy of seven.

To see her own son Jesus,

To wear the crown of heaven.

To wear the crown of heaven good man,

    And blessed may He be.

Sing Father, Son and Holy Ghost,

    To all eternity.

    And glory may He be,

    And blessed now be she.

And those who sing the seven long verses,

    In honour of Our Lady.

Let All That Are to Mirth Inclined

    Lyrics
Let all that are to mirth inclined
Consider well and bear in mind
What our good God for us has done
    In sending his beloved Son
For to redeem our souls from thrall
Christ is the saviour of us all.
    The twenty-fifth day of December
We have good cause to remember
    In Bethlehem upon that morn
There was a blessed Messiah born
But mark how all things came to pass
The inn and lodgings filled was
That they could find no room at all
But in a straw-filled oxes stall.
    Near Bethlehem some shepherds keep
Their flocks and herds of feeding sheep
To whom God's angels did appear
Which put the shepherds in great fear
With thankful heart and joyful mind
The shepherds went this babe to find.
And as the heavenly angel told
They did our saviour Christ behold.
Three eastern wise men from afar,
    Directed by a glorious star
Came boldly on and made no stay,
Until they came where Jesus lay.
And being come unto that place
    Where the blessed Messiah was
They humbly laid before his feet
Their gifts of gold and incense sweet.
See how the Lord of heaven and earth
    Shewd himself lowly in his birth;
    A sweet example for mankind
To learn to bear an humble mind.
Let all your songs and praises be
    Unto his heavenly majesty
    And evermore amongst our mirth
    Remember Christ our Saviour's birth.

    This is beautiful Garabandal,
Although slightly different to the seven Joys of Mary that I normally consider.
    However,
There is so much to consider!

We are never in want, when we apply ourselves to the considerations of our celestial Queens sorrows and joys.
    Thanks for the above

    Seven Joys of Mary Devotion

    The original number of joys were five and at one time it became fifteen joys. However, the Franciscan Crown or the rosary of the seven joys of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is composed of seven decades (one Our Father and ten Hail Marys each). At the end, two Hail Marys are added and it is concluded with the Our Father and Hail Mary (said for the intention of the Pope in order to gain indulgence. The seventy-two Hail Marys also commemorate the seventy-two years the Mother of Jesus is believed to have lived on earth. The following joyous mysteries are remembered;

    1) The Immaculate Virgin joyfully conceived Jesus, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, Her Spouse.

    2) The Blessed Mother joyfully carried Jesus, exemplified when she visited her cousin Elizabeth.

    3) The Most beloved daughter of the Heavenly Father brought Jesus, joyfully into the world in a stable in Bethlehem.

    4) The Most Pure Mother of God joyfully exhibited her son Jesus to the adoration of the Magi.

    5) The Most Holy Spouse of the Holy Spirit, joyfully found Jesus in the Temple.

    6) The Immaculate Mother of God joyfully beheld Her son Jesus after his Resurrection.

    7) The Immaculate Virgin Mary was joyfully received by God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and God the Son, (her son) Jesus into heaven, and was crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth, of Angels and Saints.

This chaplet is attributed to Bernardine of Siena (1444). It has a typically Franciscan flavour, is also called the garland of delights or the chaplet of the seventy-two Hail Marys. There are many other aspects to the devotion of Mary's joys (see: Gaude, Dei Genitrix; the meditation on the fifteen joys by Stephen of Fallai, 1225-50; chaplet of the twelve stars containing five terrestrial and seven celestial joys.)

    Thanks for that

We have the 7 joys of Mary & the 7 Sorrows of Mary devotion.

As well we have the 7 joys of St Joseph and the Seven Sorrows of St Joseph devotion.

Are there other devotions similar to these that I am missing out on?

I am going to do all of these joys and sorrows devotions this year in honour of St Joseph.

A simple devotion to the seven sorrows and Joys of St Joseph, which attracts a plenary or partial indulgence, every day in this year of St Joseph
    is below.

    Prayer:

(Recite one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be after each number)

    1. St. JOSEPH, Chaste Spouse of the Holy Mother of God, by the SORROW with which your heart was pierced at the yought of a cruel separation from Mary, and by the deep JOY that you didst feel when the angel revealed to you the ineffable mystery of the Incarnation, obtain for us from Jesus and Mary, the grace of surmounting all anxiety. Win for us from the Adorable Heart of Jesus the unspeakable peace of which He is the Eternal Source.

    2. St. JOSEPH, Foster-Father of Jesus, by the bitter SORROW which your heart experienced in seeing the Child Jesus lying in a manger, and by the JOY which you didst feel in seeing the Wise men recognize and adore Him as their God, obtain by your prayers that our heart, purified by your protection, may become a living crib, where the Savior of the world may receive and bless our homage.

    3. St. JOSEPH, by the SORROW with which your heart was pierced at the sight of the Blood which flowed from the Infant Jesus in the Circumcision, and by the JOY that inundated your soul at your privilege of imposing the sacred and mysterious Name of Jesus, obtain for us that the merits of this Precious Blood may be applied to our souls, and that the Divine Name of Jesus may be engraved forever in our hearts.

    4. St. JOSEPH, by the SORROW when the Lord declared that the soul of Mary would be pierced with a sword of sorrow, and by your JOY when holy Simeon added that the Divine Infant was to be the resurrection of many, obtain for us the grace to have compassion on the sorrows of Mary, and share in the salvation which Jesus brought to the earth.

    5. St. JOSEPH, by your SORROW when told to fly into Egypt, and by your JOY in seeing the idols overthrown at the arrival of the living God, grant that no idol of earthly affection may any longer occupy our hearts, but being like you entirely devoted to the service of Jesus and Mary, we may live and happily die for them alone.

    6. St. JOSEPH, by the SORROW of your heart caused by the fear of the tyrant Archelaus and by the JOY in sharing the company of Jesus and Mary at Nazareth, obtain for us, that disengaged from all fear, we may enjoy the peace of a good conscience and may live in security, in union with Jesus and Mary, experiencing the effect of your salutary assistance at the hour of our death.

    7. St. JOSEPH, by the bitter SORROW with which the loss of the Child Jesus crushed your heart, and by the holy JOY which inundated your soul in recovering your Treasure on entering the Temple, we supplicate you not to permit us to lose our Saviour Jesus by sin. Yet, should this misfortune befall us, grant that we may share your eagerness in seeking Him, and obtain for us the grace to find Him again, ready to show us His great mercy, especially at the hour of death; so that we may pass from this life to enjoy His presence in heaven, there to sing with you His divine mercies forever.

    Let Us Pray

O God, Who in Your ineffable Providence has vouchsafed to choose Blessed Joseph to be the Spouse of Your most holy Mother; grant, we beseech You, that we may deserve to have him for our intercessor in heaven whom on earth we venerate as our holy protector: Who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

To obtain an indulgence one must receive Holy Communion, go to confession (either 8 days before or after the day of the work), pray the prescribed prayer and pray for the Holy Fathers Holy intentions.

As I can not get to Holy Mass each day but wish to obtain as many partial indulgences that I can every day, this year of St Joseph, for the Holy souls, I found out that the spiritual communion in the pieta book has a 500 day indulgence attached! So we can obtain these indulgences, if we say the prayer or prayers, get to confession every 2 weeks, and pray for the Holy Fathers Holy intensions, which can be simply one Our Father, One Hail Mary and One Glory be.

The Spiritual communion below, is to be recited daily.

By a rescript of November 24, 1922, the Sacred Congregation of indulgences approved the following formula for a spiritual communion:

"O Jesus I turn toward the holy tabernacle
where You live hidden for love of me.
I love you, O my God.
I cannot receive you in Holy Communion.
Come nevertheless and visit me with Your grace.
    Come spiritually into my heart.
    Purify it. Sanctify it.
Render it like unto Your own. Amen."

Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof,
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

[An indulgence of 500 days, if thrice repeated. (129 The Raccolta 19
    ).]

It was the Cure of Ars who said, "A spiritual communion acts on the soul as blowing does on a cinder - covered fire which was about to go out. Whenever you feel your love of God growing cold, quickly make a spiritual communion."

This needs to be repeated per post above me, really, it could have it's own thread. I was listening about this on Trending with Timmerie on Relevant Radio, there's probably a pod-cast on it at the RelevantRadio website under her name. I had heard something about this previously but not a lot. Below, what does that mean, "...was pierced at the "yought??" of a cruel separation, we will figure this out. :

I really need to do this and they dedicated Wednesdays, well, they said Wednesdays are dedicated to St. Joseph... so good....there may well be more to this, they called it on the radio "The Seven Joys and Sorrows of St. Joseph"... so, thanks, I am not so sure this belongs in music, we can play it by ear. It sounds like a great devotion.

Thank you for posting this Josephite, a bit more:
