I’m the first to admit, I was totally wrong yet again. I previously thought that nominating Lagoa would be the easier route to take.

Two things came to my mind immediately after watching how Amy carries herself:

    1) I need to thank God each and everyday for being born and raised into the Catholic faith, it is a treasure worth more than anything this world has to offer.

    2) Women all across America who in the past have been reluctant to vote Republican, after seeing this woman up close and personal, may not think it’s a bad idea to do so now.

I caught half an hour of the inquisition over lunch yesterday. The senator from Hawaii (I think) was finishing up her presentation showing that ACB's nomination had been set up with the help of some conservative groups with ties to hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars in "dark money". Without directly accusing her of corruption, the senator made clear that obviously ACB was in the pocket of these groups, bought and paid for.

The next senator, a Republican, then demolished the previous senator's statements. He showed the amount of money recv'd by the Democratic senators was several times what had supposedly been spent to promote ACB.

Of course, today all I heard about was the "forceful questioning " done by the Hawaiian senator and nothing about the rebuttal.

That Hawaiian senator should be ashamed of herself.
The people of Hawaii need to vote her out.

Makes me want to gnash my teeth. Or as we used to say as kids "spit carpet tacks." The senator from Hawaii is painful utterly painful to watch. ACB is wonderful! Articulate patient intelligent articulate. Utterly professional.

They won't, though. Hawaii has been solidly Democrat since it was admitted to the Union.

You're being too hard on yourself. Lagoa would have been a good choice but the Democrats have to be more careful in how they attack Amy Barrett. Attacking a member of the faculty of Notre Damewould be like attacking one of their own. That she happens to be an exception to the a la carte types we normally associate with Notre Dame Catholics doesn't change the fact that the University, their faculty members and wealthy alumni (probably Democratic Party members, donors and voters) know that her being on the Supreme Court raises the University's status.

I don't know why but I watching the Hearings today for the longest time. There happened to be a blind lady that came on and spoke about Amy it was so very, very touching amongst all the malice and hate. She shone like a beacon.

Laura Wolk was her name, so very, very touching.

Who talks about simple kindness and compassion these days?

Won’t there be a Senate vote to confirm next week, regardless of the Democrat stall tactics?

“This goose appears to be cooked,” , a Democratic member of the judiciary committee, Senator Corey Booker said during deliberations on Thursday preceding witness testimony.

I watched Senator Booker giving testimony today and was impressed. If he, a thoughtful Democrat , says the goose is cooked I'd say Amy takes the chair, no matter what mud gets slung.

Plus Mitch McConnell says they have the votes. Reagan did the exact same thing in the past.

It seems to be a no brainer.

The Finger of God rests on this lady, I look for very, very great things. I suspect she has a huge devotion to Our Lady.

She seems to me so Marian in her virtues. Such a huge sense of strength and peace.

    Matthew 11:7

    Jesus Testifies about John
6Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of Me.” 7 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the wind? 8Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear fine clothing are found in kings’ palaces.…

  12. As Amy Barrett demonstrates there are actually many solidly orthodox, knowledgeable and even renowned professors at Notre Dame.
Like 99% of Catholic Universities there is an influx of liberals especially in administration.
I know some of the faculty as well as priests working there.
I assure you that one can still receive an excellent, orthodox fully Catholic education there.
One needs to be careful which classes are chosen. Fortunately there is a web site that gives students and parents information on which professors are solid Catholics...
    http://www.ndcatholic.com/profiles
This is not available at other Catholic Universities and most ar far more liberal than ND.

The divide in the student population between the orthodox Catholics and the ones who embrace the secular world is apparent and there is not much socialization between the two groups.
Two of my children are currently attending Notre Dame.
As to wealthy alumni and parents, some are some are not.
I grew up in poverty and we certainly are not wealthy...One income as a delivery man with 5 kids!

As to graduates of ND being liberal or unorthodox, don't paint with such a broad brush...
Some notable ND grads you might recognize:
    Jim Caviezel
    Amy Coney Barrett
    Michael Voris

    Somethings to consider:
Notre Dame still segregates dorms by gender.
Daily Mass the Blessed Sacrament in every dorm.
Notre Dame 4 year graduation rate is near the top of all Universities

Notre Dame gives the orthodox Catholic students an opportunity to encounter the secular culture inside and outside the college while still having the support of many faithful Catholics around you.

You make a good case for Notre Dame but I'm not sure that it is good enough to redeem ND's poor and declining reputation for being just another Catholic in name only place of higher education, as described in this Catholic Herald article: https://catholicherald.co.uk/since-honouring-obama-notre-dame-has-become-ever-more-secular/

The very fact that there is a need for a website at a Catholic University such as the one in your link is a cause for concern. I read on the website that the priest who instigated the project was required to end his involvement with the site and was not at liberty to say why. I clicked at random on the page for Economics Department where I read this about one faculty member who is not Catholic:

"She is well known for a course she teaches on “The Economics of the Family.” This course covers a range of topics from an economic perspective such as the effects of women in the work place, the gender wage gap, the effects of birth control, and so on. Professor Buckles presents her information from a social scientist’s perspective and allows students to build their understanding of the marriage market, household production function, and models of fertility in light of the data she presents. She does not offer a Catholic perspective on this data, but she clearly respects that perspective in her students. She is an engaging and lively teacher and a truly good person open to assisting her students if she can."
I don't find that particularly encouraging, especially in light of this from the Catholic Herald article:

"No one doubts that it compares favourably to most Jesuit universities. Nevertheless, what the late Charles Rice, a Notre Dame law professor, once told the Cardinal Newman Society still applies: a well-formed student who carefully seeks out faithful friends and professors can fare well, but “a kid who is struggling with his faith will sink like a stone”."
Better than the Jesuits is not a high standard, especially when there appears to be a downward trajectory.

As to whether the parents of students and the alumni are rich, they may not be mega rich like Soros or Gates but I doubt that many are living pay cheque to pay cheque. Sure, some parents probably struggle to put their kids through ND, but how many parents are in that category and how many are well off? My guess would be that the majority are very comfortable. And with a high graduation rate, I would be surprised if the majority of the alumni are not very comfortable.

Of course, like any Catholic university, there will be orthodox parents, students and alumni. (I'm acquainted with the parent of a student and met a group of ND students last year. Well behaved, they were evidently well reared, and seemed likeable enough). Sadly, there weren't enough at Notre Dame to prevent the Obama scandal and, evidently, there still aren't enough to prevent its increasing secularisation. Is Fr. Hessburgh's memory still honoured there?

  15. Well all the big name Catholic colleges are no better (and many worse) than ND. Believe me we checked them out.
Georgetown, Villanova, Perdue, Boston College, Creighton, Loyola etc. have all lost their Catholic identity.

There are smaller Catholic colleges which are still orthodox, but many will not have the opportunities and majors offered at ND. And none will come close to the graduation rates.

You can still recieve an excellent clasical education at a few non Catholic Colleges.

55% of ND Students qualify for need based aid.

At some point the young adults will have to encounter the secular culture on their own.

Fienstein's problem appears to be with all Abrahamic religions. Since, all have issue with abortion. Only her religion, Satanism is the religion that has no problems with abortion.

The same deal with Ruth Ginsberg. Looking at her made a chill come down my spine.

One truly, deeply scary lady. Witches and broomsticks

So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.

Yep, you have to be an atheist (which is the same thing as a Satanist) or out of the closet Satanist to not have a problem with abortion. There's NO going around the issue. You CANNOT believe in God and be pro-abortion, it just doesn't follow. It truly is a God vs Satan issue.
