I started the Novena of Grace March 4th it ended the 12th,..that novena came to us by St. Francis Xavier,....I think it worked! Sunburst, After you posted that novena, I also said it and completed it on the 12th and lo and behold on the 13th we have Pope Francis, that was definitely a powerful novena!
Thank you,..I'm so glad somebody else joined me,..I was praying for a strong Marian Pope..I'm so happy,..God Bless
For what it's worth, this is just another bit of speculation. We will know soon enough when the new Pope talks to us directly... "Bergoglio was elected pope on 13 March 2013,the second day of the 2013 papal conclave, taking the papal name Francis.Vatican deputy spokesman Thomas Rosica said the same day that the new pontiff had chosen the name in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, and had done so because the new pontiff was a lover of the poor. Cardinal Dolan, a first-person witness and participant in the proceedings of the Conclave, confirmed that, immediately after the selection was announced, the new Pope said, "I choose the name Francis, in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi."However, those not initially aware of the statement made by the new Pope in the Conclave mistakenly believed that, as a Jesuit, he chose Francis in recognition of Francis Xavier." I heard a priest on EWTN say that if he were choosing the name of Francis Xavier, that it would have been announced as "Francis Xavier" because that is his full name. St. Francis of Assisi is the one that is known only as St. Francis. We will see.
If that isn't the work of Satan, I don't know what is. Leading the flock away from the seat of Peter...
Woah... His middle name is Mario...what is wrong with that? What about all the girls named Mary? What about all the nuns and sisters who take Mary's name? What about all the confirmands who choose Mary as their saint? I know at least 6 priests who have taken the name of Mary in their own names....one of which - Father Peter Mary Rookey. This is a way to honor HER, not to honor yourself.
OH Glenn...I am so sorry! I wondered where that came from. When I read "I assure you, she is not" I thought it meant that Mary is not happy about it either.... My most sincere apologies! Maybe I should just delete that post altogether.
It shows the danger of false prophesy. They were told he would be evil and a false Pope. God gave them a great reforming, vary lovable saint . Yet still they think him evil. False prophecy is very dangerous. 'Maria' if you read this, shame on you'. I am saddned you were once a member of this forum. But we warned you!
From Fr. Jerabek in Rome: It is 2:00am so I will be going to bed here in a moment, but I wanted to share some initial reactions with you. Cardinal Tauran (who has Parkinson's) is the one who made the announcement of the new Pope. He read the announcement fairly quickly and many people didn't fully follow what he said -- whether due to nerves, or his illness, or just a lack of experience in reading exciting statements before an enormous crowd that wanted to interrupt with applause and so forth, it was hard to hear him at times. But I did hear him say quite clearly "BERGOGLIO" -- and we were all shocked. Because -- SURPRISE! -- he was not really a contender for this papal election, at least in terms of any of the major predictions made by any media outlet, Vaticanist, or anyone else. Let that be a lesson for those who look to the media for guidance on Church things! Anyway, so we were all extremely shocked. And since he has not been in the news as a serious contender, many people did not know anything about him. Some Italians around me were "consulting" with each other to try to figure out anything about him. Obviously he has an Italian last name, and he's from Argentina, which isn't so bad, and he's a Jesuit, *AND HE CHOSE THE NAME FRANCIS* (Italians LOVE St. Francis), so it sounded pretty good. Well then, he came out on the loggia and began to speak. His first word was "Buonasera" -- Good Evening. It was very endearing. And he started to win people over immediately. From there he spoke from the heart in a very simple and straightforward way. And he asked us all to pray for God's blessing on him before he imparted his blessing to us. For about 30 seconds the entire Piazza was absolutely silent and still. It was a very beautiful moment of prayer. Before this -- lest I forget -- he led us in prayer for the Pontiff Emeritus, Benedict XVI. In Italian (although the new Pope mixed in a bit of his native Spanish, which is easy to do) we recited together an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. It was exceedingly evident that all were quite pleased and grateful for the opportunity to show yet again appreciation to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and to pray for him. After Pope Francis gave his Apostolic Blessing, with which was offered also a plenary indulgence, the various bands (Swiss Guards, Gendarmes, et al.) who were assembled beneath the balcony played the Vatican National Anthem and also the Italian one. Then he said a few more words and wished everyone a good night and that we sleep well! It is obvious that he is a humble man, and that he made a very good impression on the crowd. We of course await the coming days, months, and years as we see how he will lead the Church, and we will support him in prayer and any other way we can as he carries out the heavy mission that has been entrusted to him by God via the Cardinals. He will not be Pope Benedict XVI, Pope John Paul II, Pope John Paul I, Pope Paul VI, or Pope John XXIII -- or any of the other popes you may have known in your lifetime. He will be Pope Francis, the Pope given to us by God at this particular moment in history to lead us in what are truly extraordinary and difficult times in the history of humanity. May God protect and guide him and may He bless us all!
WORDS OF POPE FRANCIS------------------------- "Brothers and sisters, good evening! You know that the duty of the Conclave was to give a bishop to Rome. It seems as though my brother cardinals went almost to the end of the world to get him. But here we are. I thank you for your welcome. The diocesan community of Rome has a bishop. Thank you! Before all else, I would like to say a prayer for our Bishop Emeritus Benedict XVI. Let us all pray together for him, that the Lord may bless him and that Our Lady may watch over him … [Our Father … Hail Mary … Glory be] And now let us begin this journey, [together] as bishop and people. This journey of the Church of Rome, which is to preside over all the Churches in charity. It is a journey of fraternity, of love, of trust between us. Let us always pray for one another. Let us pray for the world, so that a great brotherhood may be created. I hope that this journey of the Church, which we begin today and in which my Cardinal Vicar who is present here will assist me, will be fruitful for the Evangelization of this beautiful city. And now I would like to give you my blessing. But before I do, I would like to ask you a favor: before the bishop blesses the people, I ask you to pray to the Lord that He bless me…. the prayer of the people for a blessing upon their bishop. Let us take a moment of silence for you to offer your prayer for me.” [Silence … the Holy Father bows] [Cardinal said … “The Holy Father, Francesco …”] “Now I will give you my blessing and to the whole world, to all men and women of good will.” [Pope’s blessing] Brothers and Sisters, I leave you now. Thank you for your welcome. Pray for me. And we’ll see one another again soon. Tomorrow I want to go and pray to Our Lady, asking her to watch over Rome. Good night and have a good rest."
I am so excited about this pope. I also think he took St Francis of Assisi as his name due to his great love for the poor and the fact that he turned down a limo preferring to take the tube to work! I am delighted, I am sure that he will do a wonderful job and will be docile to the heart of Mother Mary..
This is good for Latin America as it has been heamoraging Catholics to these new evangelical Protestant sects with their diluted version of the Gospel
