Thank you everyone for your prayers!!!

Surgery wasn't till 5:00, due to trauma cases yesterday and today delaying the cases till then. Mine took two hours, and I wasn't aware of anything till well after 8:00. I was in recovery till 9:00. Just returned to same room I had previously.

I feel like I got hit by a bus. Right abdominal quadrant hurts! A lot!

Due to presence of infection in the gall bladder at the time they removed it, I’m still be in the hospital for several days yet for IV antibiotics.

Glad to hear things went well Brian. I am surprised they did not remove your gall bladder but you are certainly better off with it if they can squash that infection.

I am in a lot of pain post op, some of it worse than the pain I was experiencing two days ago. This ordeal ain’t over yet I guess. I feel like they had me hanging by a meat hook through my right shoulder muscle.

Thank God you are over the surgery. Now we pray for an end to the infection. I hope they are giving you pain meds. I had a lsparscopic hysterectomy a few years ago and I thought going in it would be a piece of cake. Wrong!!! Hurt like blazes so I know what you mean. Rest and get well Brian. May God grant you complete healing and return to good health.. I will offer my holy hour today for this intention.. Keep us posted

Thanks for the update Brian. Ask for more pain relief if it is becoming unbearable.

May God grant you quick healing.

Abdominal area surgery really really hurts. I'm glad they are giving you IV antibiotics. And glad they had you on them going in. (I remember a friend describing an appendectomy as having a board nailed to her side! Please ask for pain meds.:) it helps the healing notcto be fighting pain.)

I’m not shy about asking for pain meds. They’re giving me IV dilaudid and oral oxycodone in between the dilaudid. And I’m sleeping in a chair. I can’t lay down or my right upper quadrant as well as my right shoulder instantly goes into a crazy spasm of pain that literally takes my breath away.

I was completely under IV sedation for pain relief before I got to the OR so I suspect they had to manhandle me onto the OR table and my right arm and shoulder were in an awkward position for 2 hours.

    Oh geezzz Brian,

sounds like you’re in more pain than ever.... you’ll need all three days for recovery. Hopefully you’ll start feeling less pain each day. That’s a load of sacrifice you have to offer here Brian. ...and every second will be very valuable ....but you know that.
    Rest....

Up til now most of the crosses have been more psychological/ spiritual that real physical pain. Even recovering form open heart surgery was NOT that difficult nor painful.

So I found myself wondering if God was sparing me from real, difficult physical pain.

    Nope!

Now I know the answer to that...

Pain in right shoulder is a side affect from your op it's the gas they use to inflate your stomach to allow them to see what they are doing the pain in your shoulder should subside after 24 hours (y)

Yes. A dear friend is a nurse anesthetist in Pittsburgh and just told me the same thing about the CO2 they use to distend the abdomen so the surgeon can see everything better.
