Thus far, the only fact that matters is the lack of a "worthy of belief" statement from the Ordinary of whichever diocese Fr. Rodriguez was in when he received these messages which he claims to be from Heaven. Being a priest,he should know the drill for getting Church approval for spreading the content of private revelation. The procedure involves an official investigation. The information we have is that there has been no such investigation and that none was requested by Fr. Rodriguez.

Self-proclaimed prophets are ten a penny nowadays. It's like fortune telling for the pious with "locutions" , "messages" or "secrets" replacing tarot cards or a crystal ball. If Catholics get sucked in it's their own fault for not waiting for official approval from the appropriate Church authorities.

There was a report that priests were hearing Confession in defiance of their Bishop at one of Charlie Johnston's gatherings. That should have been a huge red flag to Catholics but it wasn't for some. They trusted Charlie's "angel" instead. Short of coming right out and calling Fr. Rodriguez crazy or a charlatan, the Bishop of his former diocese can't make it any clearer that Heaven hasn't made Fr. Rodriguez an apostle for the end times or any time.

  3. Did he discern the messages were false, or did he just state as bishop he wants people to stop distributing the messages

    He did neither.

Disallow: to reject as invalid, untrue, or improper. Definition
The subject of Bishop Lemay’s letter was: “ A disallowance of Fr Michel’s messages and prophecies.”
So yes, I would say that he discerned they were false since he rejected them as invalid, untrue or improper. The Bishop called it a “total disavowal.”
The link to the full letter from Bishop Lemay is on page 1 of this thread in Christy’s post.

  5. The Bishop's actual wording in the body of the letter: To this total disavowal of Father Michel Rodrigue‘s messages and prophecies

Disavow: To disclaim knowledge of, responsibility for, or association with.

Bishop Lemay would never accept any such messages no matter the chosen conduit and could not therefore judge them with any expected neutrality because he simply personally does not accept the topics themselves about which they pertain. In his case they are already pre-ordained to be in error.

I absolutely disagree with the prophecies .... on the aforementioned site (Ex. Warning, days of darkness, Era of peace, punishment, World War III, construction of shelters, etc.). This is what I intend to answer to the people who have asked me.

He disagrees with such things as he mentions. This is what Fr. Michel said previously about the Bishop personally not believing in these things.

It is, therefore, unsurprising that an individual who disagrees with the reality of such things — events prophesied by countless approved revelations — would likewise disavow Fr. Michel’s messages.

In fact, the September 3rd open letter includes nothing new relevant to the status of Fr. Michel’s messages.

    https://www.countdowntothekingdom.com/on-bishop-lemays-open-letter-of-september-3rd/

Unfortunately, the false statement is still present in Christine Watkins' book "The Warning: Testimonies and Prophecies of the Illumination of Conscience" (pages 278 and 280)

Well, "unfortunately", the Bishop is incorrect about this. Christine's present edition corrected this as requested by the Bishop.

Wise words from a Facebook friend,

It takes enough grace to put a camel through a needle’s eye to detach people from such disordered clinging to false prophets. I’ve learned there’s no persuading them. There’s an excuse and an explaining away of every huge red flag.

If people were spending the time they should be in Scripture and daily mental prayer, they would recognize immediately that the voice behind the messages is not God’s. No special gift of discernment of spirits is needed. “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

So we have the conditions for people being deceived: not knowing the voice of God due to lack of spending time with Him and in His word, not knowing enough about virtue to recognize fruits of the Spirit vs. anti-fruits, and basically an ignorance of the spiritual life that leads to being taken by someone with a compelling-sounding message, delivered at a time of upheaval.

Each will say as they will and believe as they will in regards to God's alleged prophets of these end times. Each will have to answer to God for what they have said against his prophets. As for me, even though I have no doubt about the credibility of Father Abbot Michel, I will wait and see through October and November towards validating his prophecies, as I neither desire to offend God, nor his prophets. He has said nothing contrary to our Catholic faith or scripture. Yet, the naysayers will spew their disgust, and even hatred towards him, instead of waiting and seeing as God would desire from his people towards his prophets. The prophets of biblical times were treated no different. They naysayers did not fear God then and it seems they have no issue with potentially working against him now. Best to bite ones lip then to speak against what God is revealing through his prophets.

I am starting to do this in much more detail and recently bought a hard bound new testament of the Navarre Bible. It is fantastic!! I highly recommend getting this Bible if you don't have one. The teachings and writings of every book is incredible for unlocking new knowledge around the scriptures. The New Testament alone is over 1000 pages.

I don't know. I was very much inclined to believe Fr Michael at first for several reasons. He was a priest. A senior priest, a supposed Abbott. He was supposed to have the backing of his Bishop. He was supposed to be an Exorcist and what he said chimed in with authentic Catholic Prophesy.

What actually caused alarm bells to ring was watching a video of a talk he was giving. He was prophesying truly awful terrible events to come. But as he did so he was smiling and laughing. It was rather like watching an oncologist telling some poor person they had three months to live while roaring with laughter.

I just switched of after that.

I do not believe Discernment is always easy. I do believe very good , holy and Saintly believers can be deceived...at least for a while.

As far as I recall St John Vianney, the Cure of Ars and Patron Saint of parish Priests changed his mind three times about LA Salette.

However I do think false things tend to unravel over time.

Fr. Mark is right, warnings from heaven are always urgent. God in His mercy gives His children plenty of time to prepare. I think messages that talk of events happening within a specific timeframe are troublesome, and far different than a warning about great trials coming soon. We have been warned that there would be many false prophets, and I think those days are upon us. As for Fr. Michel's messages we will know soon enough, but even without them I think we are all expecting to sail into troubled waters in the near future. Discernment is a challenge, and I often feel ill equipped to sort it all out.

Totally agree. I am steering away from these lurid and dramatic predictions. I am praying a lot of surrender prayers to the Sacred Heart these days. Like Fr Spitzer's prayer "Jesus, i can't do this. You can. Please do it."

  14. I, too, took away a very bad sense, as did Padraig, of the complete juxtaposition of Fr. MR’s strangely placed joviality amidst his delivering alleged prophesies of epic proportion. Something doesn’t seem right about him in this regard. (PLEASE, no one tell me it’s the French Canadian way. I don’t buy it.)~AN

I too love this bible, Andy, I have learned so much about the Gospels from reading it. But the hardcover is way too heavy for my arthritic hands, so I purchased each book separately in paperback, and it works just as well. (y)

BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF HEARST JOINS BISHOP OF AMOS TO TOTALLY DISAVOW FR. RODRIGUE

    http://hearstdiocese.com/diocese/wp...Y0YFzHMV8Kt_M6J65og0kzefBIbjeY_THT3hNaIiHn3zw

LETTER TO THE FAITHFUL OF THE DIOCESE OF HEARST -MOOSONEE

    Hearst, September 9,2020

Subject: Messages and prophecies of Father Michel Rodrigue

    Brothers and sisters,

For a few months now, we have been hearing about Father Michel Rodrigue, a priest who worked in our parishes from 1989 to 1996. Father Michel Rodrigue then left the diocese and moved to Montreal to join the Sulpicians. Therefore, we had no news of him for many years.

Although he is still incardinated in our diocese, he has worked in the diocese of Amos since 2011 . In addition to having been parish priest, he also organized retreats and other activities in the Amos Diocese and elsewhere. He even introduces himself as "the apostle of the last days" and "an official exorcist of the Church". His presentations may be found on various websites. Father Rodrigue even declared that his messages and prophecies were supported by Bishop Lemay, the Bishop of Amos, who strongly denied any such support.

In union with Bishop Lemay, I express total disavowal of the messages and prophecies presented by Father Michel Rodrigue. I also refute his claim to be "an official exorcist of the Church".

Father Rodrigue currently has no pastoral charge or function in the Diocese of Amos nor in our diocese. He still resides in the Diocese of Amos.

I pray for all the faithful who may have experienced moments of anguish in the face of Father Rodrigue's words and presentations.

    In Christ,

Well, the Countdown people weigh in--just as expected. Their rallying cry is "Not Condemned!"

Emmett O'Regan is among those saying the Church should investigate the Countdown website.

Fr. Michel’s Messages Are Not Condemned
Yesterday, Bishop Robert Bourgon joined Bishop Gilles Lemay in publishing his own personal “disavowal” of Fr. Michel’s messages. However, yet again, no formal condemnation has been issued, and these statements remain the personal opinions of the prelates themselves — opinions which they are of course entitled to express, but which are not binding upon the faithful in accordance with how these Bishops themselves have chosen to word them and promulgate them. (If, on the other hand, a formal condemnation were to be issued, we would immediately obey by removing Fr. Michel’s material from this website.) We note that Bishop Robert phrased his own “disavowal” as being “in union with Bishop Lemay,” who, in turn, has phrased his disavowal of Fr. Michel’s messages in relation to his own “absolute” rejection of prophecies of the Warning, the Chastisements, the Three Days of Darkness, and the Era of Peace (all of which we have extensively documented, on this website, as being contained in countless approved revelations).

For readers who may be confused as to what exactly a formal condemnation is and why the various existing statements pertaining to Fr. Michel do not amount to one, we are including below an example of such a condemnation of a recent alleged apparition:[1]
