Thank you, Frodo. This link is the clearest rebuttal I have read. It gives me pause. Some of the quotes from Luisa's writings on the Eucharist, I find virtually reprehensible:

    6. "When I am sacrificed, the soul that lives with Me in my Will is sacrificed with Me, not only in one Mass, but in all Masses from the first to the last. Since she lives in my Will the soul is consecrated in all the Hosts. And Book of Heaven p. 106: "…my Will is Sacrament and surpasses all the sacraments together."

But then again, Frodo, some of my favorite verses from Paul, produce a joy while simultaneously minimizing the human side of the equation:

2 Cor3:17 Now the Lord is a Spirit. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all beholding the glory of the Lord with open face, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as by the Spirit of the Lord.

I will keep on reading and keep on Discerning, praying to the Holy Spirit to Light the way.:):)

But you know all these Devotions cause great scandal and confusion and opposition at first. The Sacred heart, Divine Mercy, True Devotion to Mary and so on. It's all par for the course.

    We will see.

    Oh Sacrament Most Holy
    Oh Sacrament Divine
All Praise and All Thanksgiving be every Moment Thine.

St Michael the Archangel at Fatima taught us to pray the following way before the Most Blessed Sacrament......

"Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly, and I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, present in the Tabernacles of the world, in reparation for all the sacrileges, outrages and indifferences by which He is offended. And by the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart, and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners."

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee; My God, My God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament. (note: we are Adoring God, not ourselves)

"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee. I ask pardon for all those who do not believe in Thee, do not adore Thee, do not hope in Thee, do not love Thee!"

As member seagrass states in the "kingdom thread"

Authentic prophesy is the sweetness of heaven conveyed to us, whether to encourage, to warn or to admonish. This sweetness makes us humble, helps us to love better. It returns us to our crosses with strength renewed to carry them.

  6. I must have the link to the more updated statement. Please read what is written here at https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?recnum=108 It is at the very beginning, as a 2010 Editor’s Note:

[Ed. note: In 2010, Luisa Piccarreta's cause for canonization was transferred from her local diocese to the Vatican, which has now opened the cause. The two theologians assigned to study her works have both given a positive judgement. This does not yet constitute an official approval by the Church, and the debate will continue throughout the process of her cause. However, it is clear that these two theologians, at least, do not agree with the reservations expressed below.]

There are intelligent individuals on both sides of this. But it’s my prayer that it’s the Church’s holy Wisdom which will leave its seal on all this one way or the other someday soon.~AN

  8. Now that you said this, I don’t feel like such a simpleton. There’s has been a pattern historically as you point out here. These cases don’t prove/ disprove the validity of words of LP. But they do make me take pause and consider.

Yes, but theologians not agreeing doesn’t a) mean much these days and b) address any of the reasons why it was deemed dangerous in the first place.

At the end of the day it comes down to doctrine, and there has been no such “update” that has shown why this translation is all of a sudden doctrinally sound. On the contrary, even the local Ordinary - who is a supporter of her cause - has admitted that the poor translations are impeding her cause. If that’s the case, why persist in spreading them?

I find in Discernment time is a huge friend. Take all the time in world and read and listen and learn. Time, time time , no hurry.

Well, Padraig, thank you for letting us join you in this journey, to meet and get to know the Servant of God, Luisa Piccaretta, I bought the book you recommended, and will read it carefully, I am so pleased it is easy to read. There are other books on the Divine Will, but they are not easy to understand, maybe it's because I'm old. :D

I understand that the difficulty is in obtaining a reliable translation of her work, or, primary source, which is essential in clearly understanding her work.
    As EWTN explains:

  13. So any current English translation violates a prohibition from the local Bishop?

Dangerous ground to be treading (disobedience) no matter the final outcome of the evaluation of official translations of her writings.

I totally agree here. Why put our souls in danger by being disobedient?

I don;t think I could wade into the volumes of her writings anyway. Years and years ago I bought the three volumes of the Letters of Padre Pio , but I was a big fan by this stage and so it was not hard work but a delight.

I find reading a little Spiritual Book like this best to be read as Lectio Divina, very slowly and prayerfully. I like that it is a kind of Spiritual DIY Book and shows practical ways of implementing the Devotion itself. I would guess that the best way of Discerning this Devotion is to go by trying out, 'Gifting ', Divine Will'.

It reminds me in a way of Brother Lawrence's Classic, 'Practicing the Presence of God'.

When my Spiritual Director was dying of cancer I asked him to recommend one. He told me to take Jesus as my guide from then on as he could not think of anyone he would trust with the task.

Looking at the state of the Church now I can see what he meant.

  17. there seems to be good things about this devotion, but also strange things. the fact is that it is not yet ripe for the church. it is not yet time for this devotion. this is very easy to see. I hope that someday in the future some Pope will be able to raise this devotion to the whole church and correct all its mistakes.

but one thing I could see: the people who spread this devotion the most are at the same time deceived by false apparitions and are living an apocalyptic sect way of life. they follow Vassula. perhaps it is because they want to live a spirituality to which they have never been called and it is not even for their time.

I can see where people who spread this devotion are also devoted to other false apparitions. I see that in a man I know who spent 15-20 years of his life promoting the condemned messages of Bayside and now has totally immersed himself in LP.

  19. Hello, Frodo.

Theologians agree/disagree on that very point: doctrine. And if there is admittance that there are, indeed, poor translations, then all the more reason to see how BOTH sides on this issue need to see clearly the possibility that they may be right or wrong. The final, authoritative translation will put this all to rest one way or the other. I will abide by what Rome says when they say it.

But, for now, I cannot treat it personally as taboo. It’s not asking me to do something abruptly in my life with my family, home or finances. and as far as spreading her messages go, there are many different levels of what that can even mean. If I had first heard of it all along time ago, before people were asked to stop disseminating the volumes, I might find it difficult not to talk to people about something I thought was beautiful or true and of which enhanced my faith and prayer life. (A possible answer to your last question?)

However, I am a new kid on the block who has just now dipped her big toe into the pond and I am not going to make the mistake of quickly running away with my arms flailing in reactionary mode. The devil can play tricks on two sides, in that he can make someone “see” evil where there isn’t any. ~AN
