In my opinion there are major problems with polling right now, as there were during the 2016 election: The surveys are purposely flawed by oversampling Democrats, thus to discourage conservatives from voting Trump. And people are lying when polled to mislead pollsters or fear of reprisals.

 

Mayor Lori Lightfoot planning to remove Christopher Columbus statue from Chicago’s Grant Park

Mayor Lori Lightfoot is planning to remove the controversial statue of Christopher Columbus from Chicago’s Grant Park as soon as Thursday night, in part to avoid another high-profile confrontation between police and protesters like the one that happened last week, sources told the Tribune.
Not all Italian American leaders in Chicago are on board with the decision, but it has received the blessing of some groups, sources said.
Protesters marched downtown last Friday then headed into Grant Park, where a group of people attempted to take down the statue, similar to what’s happened in other cities across the country.
But chaos followed the protest as officers and demonstrators clashed around the statue. At least 20 complaints of police brutality were filed against Chicago cops, including one involving activist Miracle Boyd, who said she was hit in the face by a police officer during the skirmish, knocking out at least one of her teeth.
Lightfoot and police leaders blamed a group of protesters wielding black umbrellas and shields for inciting what they called “anarchy.” Lightfoot also said she isn’t happy with officers who may have mistreated protesters or reporters.
Chicago’s statues of Columbus have become a heated controversy for Lightfoot, who has rejected calls to bring down monuments honoring the explorer.
She also has rejected calls to rename the Columbus Day holiday.
Columbus has been condemned by activists around the country who point to the Italian explorer’s mistreatment of Indigenous people after he landed in the Americas in 1492.

CHICAGO — Statues of Christopher Columbus have been taken down from both Grant Park and Arrigo Park in Little Italy early Friday, amid a plan by President Donald Trump to dispatch federal law enforcement agents to Chicago.

This just sickens me that in her hatred for President Donald Trump, because he is going to send in the Feds, Mayor Lightfoot has taken down both Statues.

At first, she was not going to give into these Anarchists, even defending the statues to the point of allowing 54 police officers getting hurt in the process. I really feel sorry for Little Italy (an area where many Italians reside in Chicago). What does that say about the Italians in the city? Even though the city took down the statues, the Anarchists are now going to the mayor's house and chanting "defund the police".

Well, if the Anarchists are after Christopher Columbus statues because he had conquered, enslaved people, promoted Catholicism 500 years ago, I can only guess what happens next, because the United States was not desolate when it was occupied!

GOP's Gohmert introduces resolution that would ban the Democratic Party

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) introduced a House resolution Thursday calling on lawmakers to ban organizations or political groups that have historically supported the Confederacy or slavery in the U.S., a list he said includes the Democratic Party.

"A great portion of the history of the Democratic Party is filled with racism and hatred. Since people are demanding we rid ourselves of the entities, symbols, and reminders of the repugnant aspects of our past, then the time has come for Democrats to acknowledge their party's loathsome and bigoted past, and consider changing their party name to something that isn't so blatantly and offensively tied to slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination, and the Ku Klux Klan," Gohmert said in a statement.
The resolution is co-sponsored by GOP Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Jody Hice (Ga.), Randy Weber (Texas) and Andy Harris (Md.)

It comes after the House on Wednesday voted to remove from the Capitol statues of people who served in the Confederacy or defended slavery.
The vote followed weeks of nationwide protests against racial inequality and police brutality sparked by the killing of George Floyd. Protests and demonstrations have targeted statues of Confederate leaders, explorer Christopher Columbus, former President Andrew Jackson and others.

Gohmert on Thursday said the legislation "failed to address the most ever-present historical stigma of the United States Capitol, that is the source that so fervently supported, condoned and fought for slavery that was left untouched, but without whom, the evil of slavery could never have continued as it did to such extremes that it necessary to address here in order for the U.S. House of Representatives to avoid degradation of historical fact and blatant hypocrisy for generations to come."

The Democratic Party supported the institution of slavery during the time of the Civil War, though the modern Democratic and Republican parties bear little resemblance to their 19th century iterations.

Gohmert also cited examples of racist policies within the Democratic Party's history, including former President Woodrow Wilson's endorsement of racial discrimination.

He suggested that the party change its name Thursday, saying that "that is the standard to which they are holding everyone else, so the name change needs to occur."

During a congressional hearing on reparations last year, Gohmert also tried to make the point that Democrats were historically the party that supported slavery, as a protester interrupted by shouting "you lie!"

I would have to say that this is “Cancel Culture” at its best!

Antifa splinter cells are planning a day of terrorism across the country in retaliation for the feds doing the job that Portland police won’t do after they took control of the rioting mobs. Tomorrow, Saturday, July 25th, is being dubbed J25, and actions are planned in several cities.

It seems as though these protests and riots will never end. The names of some of these so called "Coalitions" are just preposterous! Heaven forbid, another accidental killing from a police officer and all mayhem strikes again. It's not the "Empire Strikes Back", it's the "Protesters and Rioters, Strike Back!" I am all for a peaceful protest, but if there is just one criminal infraction during a protest, all bets should be off and the protest at that point should be terminated. My guess is, if these protests are going to continue to progress and get out of hand, there will have to be new laws enacted in the near future to deter the looting, riots, insurrection. Police officers should not have to endure what has been coming at them.

Should police officers be held accountable for flagrant dereliction of duty, and prosecuted when they exhibit lawless conduct and don't adhere to the law, absolutely. But, police officers should also be allowed to have what is called "Qualified Immunity." It looks like the Supreme Court is going to rule on how much qualified immunity a police officer should receive or they might even take it away from them since they are the ones who created it. The Supreme Court created qualified immunity and could of course overrule it, subject to its principles of stare decisis. At the court’s private conference on June 4, it considered eight petitions for the court to take up the issue of qualified immunity next term, meaning that the soonest a decision on the merits could come down would be next year.

Black armed militia planning Louisville march claims it’s ‘Not F---ing Around’
A Louisville councilman urges residents to stay away from the city’s downtown area while Saturday's march is underway.

Grand Master Jay, head of the “Not F---ing Around Coalition,” refers to the U.S. Constitution when talking about his Black armed militia group, which plans to march in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday.

“I didn’t write it,” he says about one of America’s founding documents. “They wrote it. We just abide by it. So that’s our destination, because when it looks like the government is being indifferent to the people, the people have the right to form themselves – and arm themselves — to ask those questions.”

The focus of the group’s march, he says, will be an attempt to seek justice for Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old woman who was fatally shot March 13 during a police raid in her Louisville home.

Other militias also plan to be in the area Saturday, but Major Aubrey Gregory of the Louisville Metropolitan Police says the department has a plan for maintaining peace and separating groups that have opposing political views.

"We expect nothing but a peacful protest this weekend," Gregory told WAVE3 of Louisville.

Taylor’s death came after police executed a “no-knock warrant” at the address, in search of a drug suspect who did not live there, and no drugs were found in Taylor’s home.

Family members and supporters of Taylor have called for the officers involved in the shooting to be arrested but none of them has been charged with a crime – although the FBI launched an investigation in May after the family filed a lawsuit.

Grand Master Jay’s coalition has called for those joining its march Saturday to open-carry their weapons, wear black and remain peaceful, WDRB reported.

The group’s leader says he has already spoken with city officials about the Taylor case, hoping to see results – but is now advocating for the mayor and city council members to be replaced, the station reported.

The Louisville organization of Black Lives Matter has distanced itself from Grand Master Jay’s coalition, accusing the armed group of being “outside agitators” – noting the militia had staged a march in Stone Mountain, Ga., on July 4, WDRB reported.

On Friday, Louisville Councilman Kevin Kramer, a Republican, urged residents to stay away from the city’s downtown area on Saturday while the militia’s march is underway.

“The potential for violence will be heightened as we will more than likely have a number of highly armed groups representing very different viewpoints as well as other groups all situated within a block of each other,” Kramer told WDRB.

“While efforts are being made to ensure a safe environment to all persons present, I would caution you that the potential for violence will exist.”
He added: “I don’t have a lot of confidence that the police department is going to have the resources that they need should something go wrong.”

The Taylor case gained broader media attention after the May 25 death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis – with many supporters of Floyd’s family also backing the Taylor family’s efforts in Louisville.

In June, a Louisville police detective linked to the Taylor case was fired.

Earlier this month, a government oversight committee in Louisville launched investigations into the deaths of Taylor and of David McAtee, a cook who was fatally shot at his restaurant by a National Guard member on May 31.

The two cases have sparked numerous protests as well as rioting in Louisville in recent weeks, including a demonstration Friday afternoon that resulted in 76 arrests, according to WDRB.

We have gone from peaceful protests to rioting and mayhem to calling for the de-funding of the police and now finally to the real goal all along of these groups IMO which is the call for total abolition of law enforcement and the overthrow and replacement of government in the US by revolution.

Meanwhile, the US Supreme court has just ruled that churches in Nevada are limited by decree of governors to maximum congregations at worship of 50 people regardless of the maximum occupancy size of the church. Casino's, restaurants, and other businesses are allowed to operate at a 50% capacity level with proper social distancing guidelines in place. Caesar's palace has been granted precedence over Calvary Chapel.
