My deepest sympathies to you, Garabandal, and your family. May your dear mother rest in the loving arms of Our Lord.
I want to thank everyone for their prayers. The Requiem Mass for my Mum was restricted because of the regulations (30 people) but the priest was flexible and we got at least 100 into the chapel (a large chapel so you would hardly notice one hundred). The music was beautiful - Introduction Ave Maria beautifully sung - also had 'On Eagle's Wings' the psalms were sung and the departure was Our Lady of Knock my mum's favourite hymn. The service was simple, beautiful and understated just the way Mum would have wanted. She was a quiet lady who liked no fuss. I experienced a deep peace at the Mass so your prayers are much appreciated.
In honour of my Mum. OUR LADY OF KNOCK (composed by Dana) There were people of all ages gathered 'round the gable wall poor and humble men and women, little children that you called we are gathered here before you, and our hearts are just the same filled with joy at such a vision, as we praise Your Name Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, all my cares and troubles cease as we kneel with love before you, Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace Though your message was unspoken, still the truth in silence lies as we gaze upon your vision, and the truth I try to find here I stand with John the teacher, and with Joseph at your side and I see the Lamb of God, on the Altar glorified Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, all my cares and troubles cease as we kneel with love before you, Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace And the Lamb will conquer and the woman clothed in the sun will shine Her light on everyone and the lamb will conquer and the woman clothed in the sun, will shine Her light on everyone
I will pray for the repose of the soul of your beloved mum in my Rosary. I am sorry. It’s difficult. My mom has terminal cancer. No pain. No treatment. No idea how long for her.
Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known, Anyone who fled to thy protection, Implored thy help or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence I fly to thee O virgin of virgins my mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petition But turn thine eyes of mercy towards Lorraine, And in thy clemency hear and answer our prayers for her That she may feel your loving presence in her hour of need. Amen.
*Garabandal, I appreciate being able to share this thread with you, as others were asking about my own mom who I mentioned in my reply to your initial comment.* Concerning my dear mom, one surgeon had said 18 months but, in researching it myself, it could be a much longer time since this is often considered a slow-moving cancer. Because she said, “No” to chemo, radiation and any further testing, it’s all a guessing game. But, in all this, God has been SO merciful and healing! You see, she had been away from the Church for a fairly long time and had taken care of my dad before his death (which is a long and emotional story I won’t get into here.) By the grace of God, she decided it was time and my pastor came to hear her confession and gave her the Anointing of the Sick in the Traditional Form and Holy Communion. He did this (masked) during the steep upsurge of Covid19 here in NJ when, very soon after, stricter rules were enforced. It was nothing short of a miracle as my husband and I have been praying for her for YEARS. And, truth be told, the Sacrament has healed her heart in so many important ways. She’s always prayed the Rosary, so I have a strong suspicion I know who was behind it all! <3 <3 <3
