Yes, current events in the Church are inclined to lead to huge humility. When the clerical abuse thing broke I was in a state of denial about it all. I thought it was an attack by the media on the Church.

    Goodness was I ever wrong.

The thing is, we can find a few good pastors in all denominations, even within the Catholic Church. Percentage wise in every flock there are those we can point to that are nuts, like you mentioned, and then there are the few that are sound. Billy Graham and his son are fine people and believers in our Savior. But, for the life of me, I could never figure out how these good bible thumping Christian ministers could not accept the fullness of the truth they claimed to believe in? Take, for instance, the whole 6th chapter of John's gospel when Jesus foretold the Eucharist and they said, "these are hard sayings who can endure it" then "many of his disciples left him and followed him no more", because they knew he was speaking literally. Now these "good" protestant preachers have this in their bible as well, but they like the followers of Jesus, can not accept this teaching. Bottom line is, we can find a few good/holy priests, bishops, cardinals and even popes over time, but there is so many more who are bad and that is what this purification and the upcoming warning is all about. We are in the last days of mercy of the one true God, before the door closes and His justice comes. "I wish you were either hot or cold, but because you are neither hot or cold but lukewarm, I will vomit you out of my mouth". Partial truth is coming to an end soon and those left will be ONE in the era of peace. To think, living ones whole life as a protestant Christian and not once receiving the literal true presense of Jesus in Eucharist :(

As far as Islam is concerned, looking to the log in our own eyes. Islam is openly and persistently opposed to sexual perversion.

I don't mind so much that many of our clergy, even at the very highest levels are pretty well openly perverts. What really troubles me is that whole regions , such as Germany are openly espousing perversion as a good thing.

Try to rack your brains for a High Ranking..indeed any Islamic cleric who states such a thing.

As I say the times we're in are inclined to make you humble.

I mean Pope Francis's stand about perversion is to say the least very, very ambiguous indeed.

As far as praying with folks, I suspect I''d be a lot less uneasy with getting along with a lot of Imans than the Likes of Cardinals Tobin and Cupich who make me cringe.

They really, really do, they make my flesh crawl.

Well I suppose if sacrificing with devils is concerned, the German Hierarchy springs to mind.

The real danger is within, not without. We really do have to look at the log in our own eyes. Whole regions of the Church are Apostate. I include the Vatican itself in this.

I worry about my own eye first at the moment.

That's quite enough for me to be along with at the time being. The whole College of Cardinals for starters.

Yes, I am not praying to Jesus as One of the gods! He is the Only God! I can’t say in faith, “oh I like and believe in Your god too! Let’s pray to them all.”

The virus did not come along by accident. Every Church door in the world is not closed by accident.

Its because the Church is effectively Apostate.

As I say I am looking at the log in our own eyes first before other splinters.

As to worshiping other God St Paul said when he saw the Greeks worshiping at the shrine of the Unknown God that they really worshiped the true God. This is often the case. Folks often worship the true God by mistake in their mistaken beliefs.

    Acts 17:23

    Paul Before the Areopagus
22Then Paul stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I see that in every way you are very religious. 23For as I walked around and examined your objects of worship, I even found an altar with the inscription: To an unknown God. Therefore what you worship as something unknown, I now proclaim to you. 24The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands.…

    Fatima,

The real issue is not the Real Presence, even for well-meaning Protestants, it's the Authority of the Catholic Church. The Real Presence in their mind is directly linked to the Catholic Church and thus "must be wrong!

The true insanity is their adherence to sola scriptura which can't be even found in the Scriptures! On top of that, even if they were to acknowledge that sola scriptura is false as proved by incessant divisions, their response would be, "But if that is true then I would have to consider becoming Catholic!" This is their true anathema!

Deep down, what Protestants really can't believe is that any particular body of Christians (ex. Catholic Church) can be inerrant. So subconsciously they cling to faulty sola scriptura because it's the best one can do. They won't publicly acknowledge that, but they know it deep down.

After all, a particular Church had to discern which of the writings in the early centuries following the Resurrection even belonged in the Bible. Some of the runners-up were noteworthy writings such as the Gospel to the Hebrews, the Didache, and the First Letter of Clement. Even in the 3rd century, certain prominent Church leaders questioned whether the Apocalypse was even canonical! The books contained in the Bible were finalized at the Council of Carthage in 397 AD.

Safe in the Barque of Peter!

Yes, it's the Authority of the Catholic Church which is a stumbling block for those outside of it.
(most of my family was not Catholic, only a few were Catholic, so I grew up with knowing what you say is pretty much true.)
But the astounding part was that when I was 15, I became a Catholic with the blessing of both of my parents. It still astounds me to this day.

You weren't wrong. It was an ill-founded attack by the media on the Church but it just so happened that there actually were more perverts in it than in the media's wildest dreams.

It's one thing Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict calling for this kind of thing, entirely another when Pope Francis does so.

Anyway, I doubt rigid Catholics are included in the call. I intend to completely ignore it.

Only a sedevacantist or one completely deluded by Pope Francis could deny that the present incumbent's two predecessors were very considerably more orthodox in the great majority of their actions, writings and sayings, which places their mistakes into a different context.

Any well-intentioned person can make a mistake. When one's thoughts, words and deeds seem to be frequently and consistently adversely directed towards the welfare of the institution to which one is responsible, it is not surprising to come under suspicion of malice.

I find it interesting that this day May 14th the day we are being called to prayer and supplication is also the same day that Israel will swear in it's new government in the Knesset.

Is it where you stand, Padraig? Anathema to cardinals and bishops of the Catholic Church, who are not accused by a Church court, even less, condemned? Perhaps you will review your position. It is certainly not the pope's position who appointed cardinals Cupich and Tobin, and who does not take any action to excommunicate the German bishops, not even cardinal Marx the most outspoken one of them. Simply because they did not trespass anything that deserves such action, they discuss married priesthood something already allowed in the Catholic Church's Eastern rites, something discussed en large by the Latin American bishops as well. As well as giving communion to people with a civil second marriage, something proposed by pope Francis himself in Amoris Laetitia and affirmed by a number of bishops including the Argentinian bishops, that is also something allowed in the sister Orthodox Churches whose sacraments are 100% accepted by the Catholic Church. That is not the excommunicative type of behavior one would expect to see. Or the discussion of a greater role for the women in the Church. As if there aren't altar girls and women giving Holy Communion in virtually every diocese? Where is the devil here, I do not understand. Nobody, to my knowledge, wants to ordain women priests.

As for example, the cardinalate is not a sacrament, and as such is open to lay male persons (as in the past) and theoretically to women. There is a need of more cardinals who will represent better the very diverse humanity, younger ones, and also non-ordained ones (I prefer to stick for now to male cardinals though). If we want ever the status quo of a closed system to be somehow improved. The election of pope Francis himself as a man outside of the inner circle of Vatican, comes to change the status quo. His election was a mandate for change, voted by the majority of the cardinals in 2013. His entire program was that of a change, including structural in the curia.

I wonder, whom the majority cardinals will vote for when pope Francis finally retires or passes away. And then, you guys may be bitterly sorry for the days when everything was allowed under pope Francis' pontificate. Even if you do not admit it, it is not a secret that the very conservative views do not enjoy majority in the Church, neither among the cardinals nor among the bishops, nor among the priests, nor among the common people the laity. In a way, to have a dreamed Church that does not sin so much (that secretly I admire too) you can't make it with the real situation you have 1.3 bln and 5,000 bishops who do not think in those terms. I know what you will say, Jesus said that and that....but notice, that the majority of bishops ALSO preach JESUS every Sunday! Why should it be, that they have less Holy Spirit, and you assume on yourselves arbitrary to speak as if from God's positions? Isn't it bordering the grave sin of pride, the first sin that made the angels fall from heaven in first place? While you hunt down everyone who has mercy towards the sinners of various kinds (not only the homosexuals) and mercy towards the poor people expelled by unjust secular system? Even if you have never ever sinned with moral sins, other sins do exist, including the judgment of the neighbor (let alone hierarchy). As if Jesus tells you and me alike: "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."

I am happy to see that cardinal Sarah withdrew his signature under that NWO conspiracy declaration. Even if half of it is true to some degree, it leads to nowhere. That makes me think the pope is very much right to keep him in the high position he holds now, despite their apparent different points of view on some questions, including on the question should the priest face east or not. There is nothing wrong in different points of view, if it remains a point of friendly discussion and not a banner to fight a battle within the Church.

Jesus clearly said His last command on the Supper, along with that of the brotherly Love, more specifically for the Church He formed: "to be all one". https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+17&version=NIV Countless Saints and Fathers of the Church wrote about the importance of the unity in their writings.

    John 17:20
I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

And the last possible day for this calendar year for the Miracle to happen! I expect very much to happen on this day, although not the Miracle itself. Unfortunately, i cannot allow myself to speak openly in public for questions I deem secretive and even dangerous personally for me.

I question the day as well in my original post. The day Israel declared itself as a nation, the day President Trump declared Jerusalem the Capital or Israel and opened Embassy there.... just too many coincidences for me.
