W Where is your faith in seers like the Venerable Mary of Agreda who wrote The Mystical City of God 339 years ago, and her body is still incorrupt? Or how about St John Bosco who not only had dreams and locutions, but visions. He is the one that prophesied the Pope will succeed in anchoring the boat of Peter between the twin pillars of the Eucharist Devotion and devotion to Our Lady. So many great examples of great seers and saints that lived holy lives, and gave us hope. All of them were private revelations. Our Catholicism is built on those private revelations, that tell us She is the most perfect way of approaching Jesus.
And, ok, well, sometimes there are those who are false. So what? It happens. We don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. In the meantime, the signs of the times are here. And Christ is most definitely persuading us to love him.
I see your point. For me the problem is with seers who are making very immediate and apocalyptic predictions. It's easy for me to be captivated by their messages. It's easy to begin hanging on each message or presentation they give. I am attracted by the mystical and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Mary of Agreda's Mystical City of God is great. Isn't it amazing she catechized the natives in what is now Texas before the missionaries arrived?. St. John Bosco's vision of the two pillars gives me great hope for the future. In Sinu Jesu, has inspired me to pray more for priests. But, maybe this book's message were not truly given by God either. I can't say for sure. The difference is that this book doesn't engender a strong emotional reaction or cause me to become fixated on a particular seer's words. The danger is that we can become convinced that certain things are going to happen and then we start changing the way we think and the decisions we make. We can become kind of obsessed with a seer and his words. We can lose our peace and our focus on God's Providence in our individual lives. The influence can be subtle but powerful. Some people may be able to watch Father Rodrigue and not be much affected. I am not one of those people. I watched a little and then decided it wasn't for me because I know, from previous experience, that his words will influence me. And I just don't know if he's a true or false seer. The vast majority of these seers have been proven over time to be false.Discernment, particularly regarding current seers, is difficult but absolutely necessary. In these cases it's better to error on the side of caution .
I used to keep up with the current Catholic prophecies and locutions waaaay more than I do now—and I questioned the messages very little. At some point, I came to the conclusion that I was treating alleged prophecies as some sort of spiritual fortune telling (just as you said MMM); hoping to gain some inside knowledge into the future. After confessing this, I felt a weight taken off of my shoulders and have not been drawn in by it all as easily as I was before. Now when I read alleged locutions, I am less gullible and more likely to play the part of a cynic. That being said, I don’t condemn others who read various prophetic messages or believe in them. This was just my own personal experience.
The problem with messages, they tempt people! It is not just "be informed," these warnings stir up people to do something! This can hurt anxious people, older people, because they are all set up to get worried, I think some people are "wired" that way. So, if a group of people make a living, etc., making these messages known, they should also know some of the people they reach will be anxious, will act, maybe without thinking through things. And, this will upset their family members, too, who see a loved one "all wound up." "Not condemned" is low bar to spread messages that can tempt some!
this is the answer. these are the fruits from websites like countdown. following locutions is not catholicism. God himself told me this. They are extremely naive in spreading all this kind of locutionists. you give the devil control of your soul in a very subtle and powerful way. without a special grace it is impossible to be freed from this subtle influence, because it is really subtle, but powerful. And you think You are helping people, but you are not helping. You are putting them in the arms of the devil.
That is .... human creation, Adam, made in the image and likeness of God is figured to be around 6000 years. There was the period of Genesis, of other creation that came prior to Adam.....as with all of that God, the Creator, was still left "lonely". He had shared some of the creation of the Cosmos with His angels, and, like the scientists' minds of today who also are permitted to share in the Mind of God, or the quantum field that is endless, they began thinking they were also like "god", and wished a particular kind of creation, to their own defective thinking, separated by their own free wills from God. So the Jewish thinking separates that beginning creation period from the time of the creation of Adam. .......The first thing we have to understand is the origin of the Biblical calendar. The Jewish year is figured by adding up the generations since Adam. Additionally, there are six days leading up to the creation to Adam. These six days are significant as well. Now where do we make the zero point? On Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, upon blowing the shofar, the following sentence is said: "Hayom Harat Olam -- today is the birthday of the world." This verse might imply that Rosh Hashana commemorates the creation of the universe. But it doesn't. Rosh Hashana commemorates the creation of the Neshama, the soul of human life. We start counting our 5700-plus years from the creation of the soul of Adam. We have a clock that begins with Adam, and the six days are separate from this clock. The Bible has two clocks. That might seem like a modern rationalization, if it were not for the fact that Talmudic commentaries 1500 years ago, brings this information. In the Midrash (Vayikra Rabba 29:1), an expansion of the Talmud, all the Sages agree that Rosh Hashana commemorates the soul of Adam, and that the Six Days of Genesis are separate. Why were the Six Days taken out of the calendar? Because time is described differently in those Six Days of Genesis. "There was evening and morning" is an exotic, bizarre, unusual way of describing time. Once you come from Adam, the flow of time is totally in human terms. Adam and Eve live 130 years before having children! Seth lives 105 years before having children, etc. From Adam forward, the flow of time is totally human in concept. But prior to that time, it's an abstract concept: "Evening and morning." It's as if you're looking down on events from a viewpoint that is not intimately related to them. Looking deeper into the text. and then it really gets interesting: ....... The Talmud (Chagiga, ch. 2), in trying to understand the subtleties of Torah, analyzes the word "choshech." When the word "choshech" appears in Genesis 1:2, the Talmud explains that it means black fire, black energy, a kind of energy that is so powerful you can't even see it. Two verses later, in Genesis 1:4, the Talmud explains that the same word -- "choshech" -- means darkness, i.e. the absence of light. Other words as well are not to be understood by their common definitions. For example, "mayim" typically means water. But Maimonides says that in the original statements of creation, the word "mayim" may also mean the building blocks of the universe. Another example is Genesis 1:5, which says, "There is evening and morning, Day One." That is the first time that a day is quantified: evening and morning. Nachmanides discusses the meaning of evening and morning. Does it mean sunset and sunrise? It would certainly seem to. But Nachmanides points out a problem with that. The text says "there was evening and morning Day One... evening and morning a second day... evening and morning a third day." Then on the fourth day, the sun is mentioned. Nachmanides says that any intelligent reader can see an obvious problem. How do we have a concept of evening and morning for the first three days if the sun is only mentioned on Day Four? There is a purpose for the sun appearing only on Day Four, so that as time goes by and people understand more about the universe, you can dig deeper into the text. Nachmanides says the text uses the words "Vayehi Erev" -- but it doesn't mean "there was evening." He explains that the Hebrew letters Ayin, Resh, Bet -- the root of "erev" -- is chaos. Mixture, disorder. That's why evening is called "erev", because when the sun goes down, vision becomes blurry. The literal meaning is "there was disorder." The Torah's word for "morning" -- "boker" -- is the absolute opposite. When the sun rises, the world becomes "bikoret", orderly, able to be discerned. That's why the sun needn't be mentioned until Day Four. Because from erev to boker is a flow from disorder to order, from chaos to cosmos. That's something any scientist will testify never happens in an unguided system. Order never arises from disorder spontaneously and remains orderly. Order always degrades to chaos unless the environment recognizes the order and locks it in to preserve it. There must be a guide to the system. That's an unequivocal statement. The Torah wants us to be amazed by this flow, starting from a chaotic plasma and ending up with a symphony of life. Day-by-day the world progresses to higher and higher levels. Order out of disorder. It's pure thermodynamics. And it's stated in terminology of 3000 years ago. and what is time when you look at it beyond human time...or that which is calculated only from the creation of Adam/human time from then on, as far as only human life is concerned? So that other calculation of those other days/eons? of creation.....entering now into estimations of billions of years in which this world participated, created in forms prior to Adamic man having fallen into its form, the world which has authority given to Lucifer over it....as its "Prince".....but limited within the universal law of the Creator. ........ Here's an example: One evening we were sitting around the dinner table, and my 11-year-old daughter asked, "How you could have dinosaurs? How you could have billions of years scientifically - and thousands of years Biblically at the same time? So I told her to imagine a planet where time is so stretched out that while we live out two years on Earth, only three minutes will go by on that planet. Now, those places actually exist, they are observed. It would be hard to live there with their conditions, and you couldn't get to them either, but in mental experiments you can do it. Two years are going to go by on Earth, three minutes are going to go by on the planet. So my daughter says, "Great! Send me to the planet. I'll spend three minutes there. I'll do two years worth of homework. I'll come back home in three minutes, and no more homework for two years." Nice try. Assuming she was age 11 when she left, and her friends were 11. She spends three minutes on the planet and then comes home. (The travel time takes no time.) How old is she when she gets back? Eleven years and 3 minutes. And her friends are 13. Because she lived out 3 minutes while we lived out 2 years. Her friends aged from 11 years to 13 years, while she's 11 years and 3 minutes. Boggles the defective mind.....why the theological or spiritual mind can fathom the meaning better than science alone but which also plays its own role in possible calculation!!
Heede – I am coming! I am at the door! In these approved apparitions under the title of Our Lady, Queen of the Universe, the Blessed Virgin began appearing in 1937 in Heede, Germany to four girls. According to the International Marian Research Institute at the University of Dayton: “The Heede apparition appears to be a follow up on the Fatima event and promotes its message (it is deplored that mankind had ignored the Fatima messages). Apparitions of other holy persons are reported (Jesus himself and the “angel of justice”). … The seers were reportedly told of a coming “minor judgment.” It was only after wonderful cures occurred that the parish priests and other clergy supported the seers… The bishop of Osnabrück at the time the apparitions commenced, appointed a new parish priest who declared that there are “undeniable proofs of the seriousness and authenticity of these manifestations.”” [1] Later, in 1945, Jesus appeared to the same seers with His own revelations, exhorting obedience to the earlier messages of His mother, and adding [2]: I am coming! I am at the door! My love has planned this action before the creation of the world… The world lies in dense darkness. This generation would deserve to be wiped out; but I wish to show Myself merciful… I am coming Myself and I will manifest My will… The things that will come shall surpass by far what happened. The Mother of God, My mother, and the Angels will take part in it. Hell by now believes itself certain of victory, but I will take it away… I am coming, and with Me, peace shall come. I will build my Kingdom with a small number of elect. This Kingdom will come suddenly, sooner than what one thinks. I will make My light shine, which to some will be blessing and to others darkness. Humanity will recognize My love and My power.
"Good questions" aim to get at the truth, on a Catholic forum. It was obvious, Prince of Peace was making a personal statement. I have not seen "Prince" laughing at other's comments, or being snarky. "Prince" is right, locutions are not considered part of the Catholic deposit of faith, and are nothing anybody has to believe, to be Catholic.
But he just contradicted himself. And that’s not snarky to mention. Nothing wrong with laughter. This is Countdowntothekingdom.com thread, if you don’t believe in these locutions, please take your contradictions elsewhere. You contradict and then get angry when it’s mentioned. You can’t have it both ways. God bless.
no, the way God speaks with us, in that part of your soul where the devil has no access and not even your guardian angel, and no other spirit we can call it listening in the heart, I recommend that you say a rosary in front of the most holy exposed, receive the Eucharist and then stay in adoration for an hour. this is the easiest way to listen to God. and I thank God every day for showing me that this group that brings together all those locutions are following their own desires and not God's. this locutions crew are deceived men, they are pure deceit And to help you I have to tell you that you need to be patient, because God will not speak to you when you want to, but only when you have a lot of sincerity and patience to wait on his Will. when God speaks in your heart it is unmistakable, even because it is a rare experience. doing some novenas to saint could help if it is a urgent cause.
there is no contradiction in what I said I maintain everything, it is just like that and there is no contracdition the problem is you do not know what is catholicism and do not know the genuine way to listen to God this is one of the fruis of reading locutions: people do not know how God works in their souls anymore
Byron, This thread is open to all. You have posted many, many responses on the Fr. Rodrigue/Countdown threads. It is OK if others have different opinions. Perhaps, it is a good time for everyone to step back from high emotions? This is only a discussion thread, among Catholics, after all...
