You are of course entitled to your opinion as you are making suggestions. Perhaps there is a fourth option that he made an honest mistake based on prayerful reflections.
From "Mystics of the Church" blog, and "Press Release," Fred Keyes said... To repeat what Anon posted at 8:26 above: charliej373 says: August 20, 2014 at 12:40 pm Thank you for joining us, Amolynick. I have people close to me who have suffered extended periods of depression. I, myself, have mild manic symptoms – sometimes up and a ball of fire and others struggling to get through the day. When still a teen, a therapist suggested certain medications to blunt the valleys. I pondered it – then asked him if it would take away the peaks, as well. He said it would. So I declined. I can be amazingly productive, insightful and inspirational during my peak periods. I did not want to lose that…and figured I could discipline myself to do the basics during the bad periods even if I didn’t feel it until I would pull out of the downsides naturally... [Fred Keyes comment] Those are not "mild manic symptoms." Bipolar disease has been a scourge in my family--my parents, siblings, children--even myself. What Charlie describes are classic bipolar symptoms--not at all a mild case. Even his refusal to take medications is a classic response from one who is seriously impacted by bipolar disease. Meds have been for me a magic bullet; without them I'd be fighting dragons and enduring periods of emotional flatness. This self-revelation by Charlie explains a great deal about his personality and the amazing(!) stories he's made up. May 25, 2017 at 1:21 PM
On judging others -- “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
You can report all you want. If in the first instance you had provided supporting evidence for what you said then I would not have said anything. I like people to be treated fairly and not picked on because you don't agree with them. Some of the comments about Charlie on this thread are unchristian. I stand my that.
When someone says they receive specific information concerning our future given to him by his Angel, of which none came true....as a nurse, I suspect delusions or hallucinations which is often related to Mental Illness. That is not judgement but a process of deduction. How else can you explain it. He was soooo far off the mark I was embarrassed to have followed him at all. There was a lesson there.
Yes, it was a report, on "Press Release." You did not read that thread before you accused me of not giving a report. I did give "evidence" in my first response, telling you to look at "Press Release," you just ignored it and answered based only on BrianK's post. The Press Release thred had a report,a quote from Charlie Johnston saying he had been called manic!! You say "I like people to be treated fairly." You did not do that. You should apologize.
Are your teeth rotting and missing? That's not the norm in the US...Dental care is soo important because it is the beginning of the GI system which is integral to good health.
Plus dental and gum problems can be a precursor to heart disease. One of my son’s friends died from an infected tooth.
Dental care is improving now in Ireland but traditionally poor - lots of older people have few or no teeth.
So Angels and God make honest mistakes. It’s pretty simple...you decide to be the mouthpiece of God, then you accept the consequences of failure. And I am being charitable. He had started a cult following...very dangerous. He used fear as his draw. And I hate to say... people were hungry for that type of presentation. And I think the teeth issue was a sarcastic post about me. I think, I am one of the few...that saw him live. My biggest issue was he still smoked. Yes, some of you might say thats dumb. But if you are getting messages from God every day. And God is telling you to tell the world. And those messages are... end of world messages. That means the person has to completely change. That means you are all in! I’m not saying you become totally pious or totally fake. You just have to clean up vices, your everyday life becomes a prayer, everything you do is centered on God. Not Charlie. I remember him arguing with people from this forum. Almost like Brother John servant of God. Or something like that. Those touched by God and asked to be spokes person for God. Would not be wasting there time arguing and insulting people on MOG. So, as much as people are standing up for Charlie...his ego got too big and he started believing his nonsense. And then he started creating timelines to his nonsense... and that was his fall. Again, I saw Charles live and he seemed like nice guy. He could have had a nice run as a Catholic speaker. But his ego got too big and that does fall into the realm of mental illness.
I didn't ignore it - I did not understand what you were talking about. It might have been an idea to provide a link as there is no obvious thread. Apologies.
I almost feel sorry for Charlie poor man -- hope he doesn't read this thread! Accused of having poor teeth, mentally ill, prideful, lacking in common courtesy, lacking good manners, a smoker – potentially a liar, potentially under the influence of the demonic – but perhaps worst of all behaves like a 'used cars' salesman'. He really doesn't have much going for him. That's an awful lot of faults in one man.
I'm not apologizing for my observations. He was not a prophet, clearly, nothing he said came to fruition. He stated he has a conversation with his angel in the chapel before our talk....well who was it then? Was it an hallucination?
Although I generally avoid these sorts of back and forth on this forum, I am going to jump in on this one. Charlie Johnston made a very public error - and he just as publicly admitted it and stood down. I don't understand the need some have to continue to flog him for that error. Personally, I still visit his website periodically and find myself edified by both his posts and the discussion that they engender. I learn quite a bit when I visit Charlie's "A Sign of Hope" blog.
