Cardinal William Levada condemned her in 2007
Prior to that I believe she was condemned in the 1990s.

Interesting. Do you know the specifics about the condemnation by this Cardinal? Just out of curiosity.

One last bit: We can't throw the baby with the bathwater so-to-speak. Vassula is only stating something which other have already have come to conclude as well. In other words her statement regarding Akita and Fatima being the same and that Cardinal Ratzinger at the time attested to it seems perfectly reasonable.

I respect your difference of opinion Ezdra, but using Malachi Martin as a reason to trash the unapproved messages reported from La Sallete, After all who approved Malachi Martin?

And Neues Europa. I don't know why Blessed Mother bothered to come to simple shepherd children when there were so many better options, with people of high intellect and many qualifications. Sadly Rome is full of these types, and look where that has got us.

  7. She won't be "approved", or not, by the Roman Catholic Church since she does not fall under that jurisdiction. She is Greek Orthodox. Benedict, as Prefect, did write a qualifier to be placed in her writings after she graciously agreed to answer the official questions requested of her. As things stand it is up to the local bishop where she may be holding gatherings as to whether Church facilities can be offered if requested and to whether priests may participate. There are many Bishops who participate and many priests as well. Those within the Church who have endorsed her are such as the Marian and Private Revelation Church recognized authority, Fr. Rene Laurentin, Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi, Fr. Jozo of Medjugorje, Fr. Petar of Medj (the priest chosen by Mirjana to reveal the secrets in the future), others:

Our bishops can certainly tell their flocks that she is condemned and not to attend her prayer gatherings
She engages in automatic writing which is questionable at best.

  10. She's not condemned. Rather....ecclesiastical guidance via this:

    Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur

The True Life in God prophetic revelations enjoy the Magisterium’s Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat – official ecclesiastic seals of approval. The Church’s Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat are an exercise of the Magisterium and the Church requires of the Christian faithful „adherence with religious assent‟ to the Church’s Magisterium, which is particularly exercised by those bishops teaching in communion with the Pope.

    5. By virtue of the conferral of the Magisterium’s Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat upon the TLIG prophetic revelations, Christians are prohibited from setting themselves up as their judge and from publicly condemning them.3 On the contrary, inasmuch as all Christians are to “concur with their bishop’s judgment concerning faith and morals” and “adhere to this” judgment and to the Magisterium “with a religious assent of the mind”,4 the Magisterium’s Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat upon the TLIG prophetic revelations elicit from the Christian faithful said religious assent.

I read her book and liked it. She brings many into the Church who are good, well meaning people, but had not practiced the teachings of the Church. So, there is conversion that has happened through her works. It’s interesting. God works in mysterious ways.

Please don't make this thread all about Vassula!! The official ecclesiastic seals of approval don't mean the Church is saying this is an authentic message from heaven!! Only means there is nothing in the material that is against the Church, but, if the Vatican takes up the issue of Vassula it means their opinoin usurps that of any particular bishop who writes an approval. What is the latest word from the Vatican, that is what matters. Also, Vassula is not Catholic she is Orthodox, and the Orthodox Church has condemned her, I believe.

  13. Only trying to set the record straight as it now stands. Again, Vassula lies outside of the Church's official process of approval since she is Greek Orthodox. And, after reading the Church's guidance (as given above) of an ecclesiastical stamp one can safely use that guidance and feel safe. That prohibits any "condemnation" that gets so easily thrown around these days re: certain Private Revelations. And it would appear here that people do not understand the "latest word from the Vatican" which does indeed "matter"! It's left up to the Bishops....and as usual, in such matters, Bishops are often clueless and must themselves be educated. The latest is the "clarification" which permits the local dioceses of the world to decide....and that is what has been and continues to be the rule, w/ many informed Bishops and priests participating freely in such pilgrimages, etc.

    • The TLIG prophetic revelations enjoy the Magisterium’s Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat – official ecclesiastic seals of approval.
    • The Church’s Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat are an exercise of the Magisterium.
    • The Church requires of the Christian faithful “adherence with religious assent”1 to the Church’s Magisterium, which is particularly exercised by those bishops teaching in communion with the Pope.
    • The teachings of those bishops in communion with the Pope and exercising the Magisterium2 have granted to the TLIG prophetic revelations said seals of approval (11/28/2005 Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur) that remain in full force this day.

The Orthodox Church has not "condemned" Vassula. There is a lot of ignorance re: the Orthodox Church as well, when that overall term is used:

The Orthodox Churches point of view

Some readers may not understand the distributed nature of the organization of the Orthodox Churches. Whereas The Patriarch of Constantinople has recognized seniority, over the other Patriarchs, this seniority does not in any way imply overseeing responsibilities. Each of the other Patriarchs is independent and has the right to administer his domain as he is inspired, according to the canons and traditions of the Orthodox Church. Because there is no centralized authority, the Orthodox require a synod in order to reach decisions on significant matters of faith. Individual Bishops report to one of the Patriarchs and those bodies are administered as distinct Sees.

Thus, the Orthodox Churches (they are Catholic, also) do not have a unified ecclesiastical hierarchy. With respect to TLIG most of the Bishops prefer to maintain a “wait & see” attitude.

And so, as with the Bishops, the different Patriarchs act independently w/ re: to their participation or not w/ Vassula.

"For the Orthodox Churches to approve TLIG as one body, it probably requires a world-wide synod… something that last happened in the eighth century AD. The author believes that only a divine intervention would cause the Orthodox to convene in a Panorthodox Synod in order to approve TLIG!"

It wasn't necessary that this thread became about Vassula (but only lately) but when there are falsehoods re: a fellow Christian I would think that people would like to clear them up. Yes, then, let's do get back to....um, Akita? instead...within this thread labeled "The Third Secret of Fatima, etc."!!

The latest word from the Vatican about Vassula that I can find on the Vatican's website: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/c...con_cfaith_doc_20070125_vassula-ryden_en.html

In short, Vassula told the Vatican that her messages are her private meditations and not divine revelations, and the Vatican has declared it to be "inappropriate for Catholics to take part in prayer groups established by Mrs. Ryden". That should be enough to relegate Vassula to the also-ran category of prophets/seers/locutionists. We should, of course, pray that her meditations will lead her home to Rome.

Judging by the number of texts and extracts which have been doing the rounds this past 60 years, if Archbishop Vigano hasn't read the secret he must be one of very few people to have set foot in the Vatican and not read it or had it revealed to him by someone who did read it.

There's definitely something amiss but we probably will never get the full secret and interpretation as given to Lucy unless doing so is in the interest of someone who would benefit from discrediting Popes John Paul and Benedict, and that won't happen while Pope Benedict is capable of defending himself.

Maybe it is all history and the worst part of the secret was mitigated or deferred by Pope John Paul's consecration of Russia. If the secret is really the same as Chapters 8-13 of the Book of Revelation, it can only have been deferred to a later date because divine revelation cannot be changed.
